Of all of Todd's songs I think this is the one Hall and Oats should have covered. It would have been a smash hit. About a decade ago Todd and Daryl did this at Rundgren's Hawaii place for Daryl's show. I thought they should have tried to release THAT version to radio.... it was so good.
This was at the Palladium in NYC on Feb 16 and was the late show, the second show of the night. I was there. Rick Derringer, Patti Smith, David Johansen, Blue Oyster Cult also performed. Got home around 5am.
I believe every artist has a peak , playing an instrument or singing, and in Todd's case, I think from 79 untill 89 were his peak years as a stage performer. I prefer his studio work from 73 through 77, but love anything on stage from the above year's. His voice and the fender mustang was the cats meow for me!! Enjoy!!

Saw him in recent years a couple of times in 4 different settings and all but one (totaly screwed by the soundman)where great perfomances, i think it's often a hung towards nostalgia that we prefer certain periods. Todd will be Todd whatever he does.
I agree wholeheartedly!! Melancholy lingering in one's heart of a special time and place does something to one's ear perhaps. Todd in maturity is a hard act to follow. Who would want to judge genius and g-d given talent. Isn't it enough that he's chosen to share the beauty with us? Let's enjoy and stop making comparisons to which era was better. Listen to whatever time period pleases you. But be greatful we have him.
This song made me realize that I was in a bad relationship with a jealous, possessive, and controlling guy back in the late 70's. Thank God I got out of that. I can't tolerate smothering men.
I really love hearing Todd sing. This is beautifully done.
glad you like it
I am not sure how Todd’s talent will be noted in history - however - he has an amazing musical journey and his style is legendary 🎸

🤣 yeah, just about every rock star has a “sorry about the hair” moment from the past. Love the Sultan, regardless.
