    Such an in-depth, beautiful analysis on the matter! Really don't know how many people cover such subjects with so much attention!
    Took the D7000 for a test myself as well and here are some of my conclusions:
    1. The colour potential is indeed a bit pronounced on the D7k
    2. I found the D7k focusing engine more advanced and thus regular landscape shots came out sharper in comparison to the D90.
    3. While on the D90 with an f/8 & 18-105 lens, image edges looked visibly slightly blurred, on the D7k they were almost super crispy clear.
    Thank you for the video and my conclusion is that both are great cameras which complement each other very well!
    Cheers, Kris!

      Thank you so much Dan,
      Your comment really means a lot to me, especially since I am just starting out on UA-cam. I am glad you were able to test out both cameras. Doing my comparison while doing my video I saw good points about each one. But I truly do love the colors the Nikon D7000 produces, I just need to tone down my vivid mode a notch. What mode do you shoot on? One thing I really like on the D7000 is that there are many more focus points so you can get a pretty sharp image when using autofocus compared to that of the D90 when putting together a composition. I agree on your conclusion. If needed I take the D90 along with another lens attached because when the moment arises it takes time to switch lenses. Thank you again for the reply and outstanding comment. Hope all is well,
      Kris.

      Thanks for the reply, Kris! 👍
      I use 'Standard' color mode. Vivid is indeed a bit too much for me.

    You forget one thing: digital aliassing. The D90 is 12 MP, the D7000 is 16 MP. And the monitor is a lot less. When you present one digital image on a digital screen you get alieassing since the pixel frequencies do not match. If you compare two camera's with different pixel densities on one screen with one pixel density you are comparing two discrete aliasses.
    There is just one solution: make 2 x 3 feet prints and compare these.
    It is similar to what occurs in digital oscilloscopes: you get interferences, when the sample frequency does not line up with the frequency of the event you are measuring. You always have to oversample such a scope such that the sampling frequncy is at least 11 times higher (or lower) than the change rate of the signal.
    Also called 'the strobe effect'. When you put the D7000 in 12 MP mode, things get a lot better to interpret and the differences will be a lot less.

    The comparison is a little off, as the subject has moved due to the wind. The conditions are not absolutely identical.

    Buy either camera and let your focus be on taking good photographs. Both are exceptional cameras relative to their current cost.

    yes, the older camera, like D700, has better noise grain in high iso.
    why ?

    • @zetacrucis681

      fewer, bigger pixels. If you downsample your high megapixel image (from newer full-frame camera) to match the D700's resolution, it should look cleaner.

    Hi Kris, you have a new subscriber.
    Just a little bit of my background for you.
    Back in Wales I was a keen SLR photographer in the 80's. Unfortunately (for photography), I started getting more and more into my cycling.
    In November of 2015, I decided to get back into photography. Unfortunately (it's that word again), I was a month away from marrying the most beautiful woman in the whole world (I'm very biased). So, I couldn't spend too much money.
    I remember my father recommending I buy a Nikon way back in the 80's. So, I bought the cheapest Nikon DSLR with a lens on eBay. Oops......
    I bought a D3000 which came with an FX 35-80mm f4D lens for £117, about $140 at the time.
    Could I use it? Pah...... and I'm a manual man myself. The menu had soooooo much settings in it. What the heck is Active D-Lighting, to name quite a few.
    I used it a few times and then just left it in the draw. I was not a happy bunny, and serves me right.
    We moved to Valencia in Spain to help out my mother in law's business and all was well until we got locked down. We had to buy a house in Sagunto (which is 20 odd miles north of Valencia) as it was less than half the rent we were paying for our flat in Valencia. Money was very tight.
    Now Sagunto is an ancient town with more history than you can shake a stick at. It has a mile long castle sat on a hill directly behind our house.
    I got the D3000 out and started to learn how to use it. I studied tutorials and so on until I knew what I was doing and my images have improved immensely over the last 2 years since getting it out. As you can imagine, I have now outgrown it and need to upgrade. But, I no longer work as the business has lost 2 thirds of the students we once had. Therefore, no wage for me.
    So, I'm stuck with it, but I get great pleasure in getting out and doing photography and that's the most important thing.
    I've decided to learn computer coding for the next year and see where that takes me. I really would like a D7000 as that would be the ultimate camera for me and what I do, and spend on old glass. We shall see.
    Great video by the way. Dave.

      Hi Dave,
      Thank you so much for subscribing! I really appreciate it! Wow what a story! I am so sorry you have had to go through so much the last couple years, the pandemic has caused so much hardship on so many all over the world and to hear just a small bit about your experience in all this has really helped me understand even more how hard things can be in places other than the USA. It doesn't sound like you have had an easy time, but I hope it is getting better, and I really do hope that your journey with computer coding takes you far and that you are eventually able to get yourself a nice Nikon D7000 so you can take your photography skills even further and get some nice old glass to put on your camera as well. Thank you for such a nice message and for sharing your story and background. It is a pleasure talking to you.
      Thank you again!
      Kris

      An FX lens will not couple with a D3000 body. You need a body with a builtin AF motor, like a D90, D50, D70 or D7x00. Try to get a D7100 and you'll be fine.

    I see the difference you had the D delighting on the D90 and not the D 7000 it will make the image not be as rich as the d7000 is…

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  7 місяців тому +1

      @robertbland5131 Thank you for pointing that out I really appreciate it. The D90 is my moms camera, it is something I unfortunately overlooked. She must have been using it on that setting before I did this video. I had set her camera up when she bought it and had active D lighting off. Both cameras are still very amazing. The one thing that is noticeable is defiantly the resolution. When I made this video I was still very new to UA-cam and just didn't think about checking that. Thank you for watching my video. Hope all is well.

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  Рік тому +1

      @arif photography For me both cameras have their strengths and weaknesses. But the D90 can be better for certain things. One is that its AF system is more precise and that I have seen it perform better at night. It just depends on the situation. But the D90 is at the top of my camera list.

    A very good comparison, incredibly detailed. The D80 was my first DSLR and the next camera I got was the D7000. There is no question that the D7000 is a lot better than the D80, although the latter is still very much usable today. Thanks for a great video.

    • @Kris_World

      @Travelling Observer Thank you so very much! The D80 is the camera that I had before I bought the Nikon D7000. I had been borrowing my mom's D90 for a bit but wanted something of my own that I could use. The D80 was a great camera for me and sometimes I miss it because of it being a camera I really learned DSLR photography on. I had a connection to that camera. Then one day I got the infamous error code and noticed my shutter was stuck. It was a sad moment for me. I am so happy you liked my video. Please take care,

    I have thesame observatios too. I also have both cameras. At first the difference was a mile away in favor of the d90 when it comes to sharpness. However, I fine tuned the AF of the d7000 which is known to have out of focus, the d90 was still sharper, very significant still. Though the d7000 got better. I was disappointed with my d7000 which is supposed to be better.

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  5 місяців тому

      @haroldbriones7041 I have two d7000s and both have a focusing problem, once you adjust the fine tune of each lens that you have for this camera you should be in much better shape. Most copies of this camera came with this problem and firmware has not fixed it either. Nikon did not acknowledge it either, which is unfortunate. With that being said the D7000 once adjusted in camera is still a pretty nice camera. It just needs a lot of tweaking and configuration in the menu settings compared to other cameras.

    • @Kris_World

      @selfimprovement17 Hi, well it all depends on what kind of photography you are interested in shooting. If it is portrait photography, you might want to look into getting an 85mm lens. You can probably get one in the 200 dollar range. But if you are looking into doing landscape photography you can try a cheap 18-55mm lens, especially if you are on a budget. If you have a little more cash I would look into a 16-85mm. That's not a shabby lens. You can also find some cheap film camera Nikkor lenses for pretty cheap. All Film and Mirrored DSLRs have the same F mount on the camera so you should be fine using older lenses. I would recommend starting with a 18-55mm and a 55-200mm both in VR versions to get started on this camera to get going then upgrade later. They are relatively very inexpensive. Hope this helps.

    Nikon d90 and Nikon d3300
    Which is better in 2022? Plz answer, I wanna buy 😊

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  2 роки тому +2

      @Tamanna Tisar Hi! That is a very good question. There are some major differences with these two cameras that one should definitely consider. And they are mostly by preference. To name a few, one is that the NIkon D90 can use older nikon lenses that do not have a dedicated AF motor built in. It is a also a much less expensive camera because of its age. From my experience this camera is a pretty solid feeling camera when holding it and the battery life is actually better. But if you aren't worried about using older lenses, or if you do, you would just have to use manual focus. If you are not to worried about price and battery life which isn't that significant, then I would definitely consider the NIkon d3300. The 24mp sensor on the Nikon D3300 is definitely the best part of this of this little camera. It has more features and some of the same as the Nikon D90. If you are looking to use the video function then I would also choose the Nikon D3300. This camera is lighter so it will be easier to carry around. You just don't have all the pro features a higher end Nikon will have. The dials and buttons that are on the outside of the D90 are in the menu of the D3300. So overall if you buy Nikon DX or FX lenses that have a built in motor drive, and some extra batteries I would go with the Nikon D3300. I do love the Nikon D90 don't get me wrong. It is a legend of a camera and was and still is a workhorse. But the dynamic range and color output of the Nikon D3300 makes the D90 look aged. I do not own the D3300 but from everything I have read this little camera is a beast and will give you some phenomenal photographs. I hope this helps. Thank you for the awesome comment. Hope all is well.

    I loved my D90 - over time and with good feedback online, it turned me into a
    world famous photographer under my artist name. I switched to the D700 and
    have no need for anything else. 14 by 14 is perfect for what I do. When I stopped
