I do not think this is a standard. But as a violist, I have never touched a Suzuki book, nor do I know what 'regular' violists play. But since there is not a lot of original compositions for the viola (compared to the violin and cello), I do think this is one of those pieces many violists learn.
I believe it’s quite popular! Maybe not the exact repertoire progression or repertoire that must be studied by all violists in their journey such as Telemann, Stamitz, Walton, Brahms/Schubert sonatas.
