  • We have had a lot of people ask what kind of planning went into our recent trip to Moab, Utah. Since we are all from the east coast - Ohio, New York, West Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania... it took some extensive planning. All of us have never really driven some 2,000 miles across the country like this before and most of us have never camped off grid before, so there were a ton of questions we had. And we did not find any really great videos on this topic, so we thought we would put one up.
Planning a trip like this took quite a bit of time and consideration, so here's what worked FOR US... I will say that this is just an outline of how we did it, and while there might be some good ideas, it may not be right for everyone. Still, we learned a lot from this trip and in this video, we will share some of the pitfalls as well as success stories.
The fridge that we use is the Alpicool C40 from Amazon. A few years ago, we didn't know how "into" this we would end up getting, so we did not want to spend for a Dometic or some expensive fridge and I'll say this thing rocks! For a $299 fridge (at time of purchase in 2020) this thing has not missed a beat. Well, it looks like that one is not Prime anymore and went up in price, so check out their C45 which is similar in size. amzn.to/3V5YHPB

I marathon drove out and back. (kansas and the first 2 hours of colorado is boring) one night in Hayes Kansas hotel and a rest area on the way back. in 7 days I had 3 dinners in town, the rest of the time I had cans of soup in the desert..I think my entire trip was $2000... and I cannot wait to go back and do more of Needles and San Rafel..
