Do what my mom did to my dad. They were elderly and needing assistance, and needed to move into assisted living. My dad was adamant that he wouldn’t move. My mom, who was doing all the cooking etc., finally got exasperated and said, “Well, I’m going to move, because I can’t take care of this place anymore! If you want to be with me, you’ll move with me.” 🤣🤣 My dad reluctantly moved. 😅😅
Hearing your mom talk I think a small condo would be great for her and your dad in Cincy. They would just need a one bedroom with in suite laundry, a nice patio, and a garden outside of the building to walk Walter. No stairs, not too much to manage, and they could travel back to NY when they felt like it. You and your brother have good sized homes so it's not like they would need anything large. Your dad may get used to Cincy and decide to finally move, but it's a win/win!
Would it be possible to remodel the basement area to accommodate your parents? Maybe a good temporary option? Tom is an excellent builder. It might get him excited with opportunity to build something?
Oh I feel you on the doctors being female. A woman doctor birthed my daughter but I had a few med students in the room helping me. One was an attractive young male and he was all up in my business. At that point I was in so much pain I couldn’t really worry about being embarrassed.
It’s your birth and you should be 100% comfortable. You are your own advocate to make it as comfortable and special as you want. Women have been midwives for centuries and we feel connected and supported by woman in that setting. You do what’s best for yourself don’t worry about what anyone else says or thinks. It’s your birth. Love y’all! ❤
Renting an apartment does make sense. They need to live there and make sure they like it. Maybe your mom could spend more time there than your dad in the beginning. Give him time to adjust to moving.
For TMJ, you can wear a night guard to help with grinding. It will slow the wearing down of your teeth. There is also an option to get botox into the jaw so it can't clench completely. There are also physical therapists that will help you learn how to massage the jaw and hold your posture to stop the pain. As far as basics, pain medicine, soft foods, talk less, ice the area, and don't chew gum/ice/sticky foods.
I always find it uncomfortable that males choose obstetrics. I know some women don’t mind male doctors, but for female issues, I want a female with similar anatomy.

Why not just build Mother in law quarters to your home. Either attached or detached little suit with laundry and kitchen. Your parents could save a ton of money and still stay in their home but visit you for extended periods at a time. While maintaining their privacy and baby boo can walk on over to see granny and grand dad.
Still watching but omg so sweet that scene with your brother's kitty😻. Our kitty that we found on the streets as a tiny 4wk old baby passed away yesterday. She made it to almost 14yo. Our hearts are broken but that scene warms my heart 💞
Clancy, you should have a registry a baby registry. Also, if this is your first most family or friends throw you a shower baby shower well that’s tradition anyway so anyway so I don’t know if you like tradition like that.
I'm not a fan of male doctors and I think it's for a cou9le reasons. I remember when I went for my physical when I was like 13 he asked if I had an "under shirt" on and it's like dude I'm not 5. I don't have an undershirt I have a bra and it just made me feel weird haha. But also men never take my concerns seriously but then freak out about things that I'm not concerned about. And sometimes it's because the office staff sucks and the male dr does not do anything about it. I will say I have male eye Dr's and they have been better than other types of Dr's
I make the bed with the pregnancy pillow. It was a shock at first, you get used to it (or maybe will). It’s the start of things changing in your home! Haha

A male ob delivered my first daughter, and it was no biggie at all (I gave birth early on a Saturday). The ob is only there for the end of pushing, maybe 10 minutes for me. I barely talked with him, what made a bigger difference was indeed the nurse I had. I also did not care that multiple men were there (the NiCU came just in case). You’re just concentrating on giving birth and coping. I’m 39 weeks now, and I honestly don’t care who delivers me. Of course it’s fine if you feel different. I haven’t seen my actual ob in a month either since she had a long vacation, which is bad timing..
I swear to you people are just so miserable and they leave horrible reviews. My ob/gyno is amazing. People leave horrible things on fb groups about her. I literally don’t see it. She was so kind during my ectopic pregnancy and both of my pregnancies.had an emergency c section and a planned one. I actually saw her at the hospital last week when I visited my mom while she’s admitted and she walked to the floor with me! Deft don’t let other people get in your head.
I think once you have that precious little baby nothing will be able to keep your Mom and Dad from moving!! Your Mom is a realist. Your Dad just doesn’t realize what’s going to hit him once he sees his first grandchild. ♥️
Hey Clancy, a fellow Cincinnatian here, you could have a staff of all female OBGYNs at For Women Inc to deliver your baby and take care of gyno stuff. They are located in Evendale and Clifton, I believe. I also never wanted any male doctors.
I have the exact opposite reaction to male doctors. I trust them more and I personally have better experiences with them. I have only have had a handful of bad doctor experiences and they were all females. Only the female doctors judge me or are nasty to me. I have a few specialist for different reasons: a urologist, a gastroenterologist, I absolutely loved my dentist until he retired, etc. They are literally the best doctors ever. Saved my life, listening to me. My dad is an orthopedic surgeon and one of the best doctors in Cleveland. My gynecologist is a female and I love her. I try to go on an individual basis.
I agree with Kathy… no matter how much you love your parents it is extremely difficult to for them to be around 24/7 post partum between having a newborn, figuring out how to transition from spouses to parents, and also dealing with all your new hormones. Like she said, she would definitely help when needed but trust me, it’s important for you to have your own space during that time ❤
I had put in my birth plan that I didn’t want residents or intern while I gave birth. Luckily the plan never got taken out of the bag. In the end the male resident was so sweet and encouraging (I was in labour for a loooong time). He also saved my life when things went wrong. I’m wording this carefully so I don’t scare you, but I’m so grateful I never took out that piece of paper. On a funny note, when my daughter came out she was a chunky baby, and they were making bets on how much she weighed. Apparently the OB won five bucks😂

Omg I have TMJ just like your mom!! It makes it so hard to eat and it can be sooo painful 😢 The only thing that helps me is getting it massaged by a rolfer! Love to you both ❤❤

I was sooo glad the doctor on duty switched over from a male doctor to a female doctor before I started pushing lol. But even so, I was with female nurses for almost the entire process until the last 20 minutes or so of pushing!

If you are concerned with asking for your wishes during delivery to a specific doctor, have Zac or your mom or a doula have your birth plan and have them deal with the doctor. My doctors during pregnancy were male and female, but my male doctors were both great during delivery. A doula isn't a medical professional; they are a seperate person that is an advocate and a comfort during delivery. They would be paid out of pocket in addition to the doctors, nurses, staff. The hospital nurses are the ones that will be with you in the trenches for the nitty gritty details. Good Sam has the best NICU and is closest to CCHMC if the baby needs any extraordinary measures. I say that as a preemie mom, not to stress you out.
The only thing I can think is that the apartment probably stages that bedroom with a bedframe against the wall with the window and it makes it look like a tall window?
With my second baby the doctor didn’t even make it in time. A nurse delivered. So yeah don’t worry about the doctor too much. They’re barely there and when they are you’re probably not even gonna realize it.
My guess is it’s your unspoken rule. I don’t like to make a bed either so I don’t have decorated pillows. I just have a comforter that I just toss over.😂
Buying things for baby is seriously the freaking best lol I love it! I also love planning & everytime I have a baby, my bags are packed SO early. I packed this week & I’m only 32 weeks 😂😂 we are readyyy ready 😂
I feel ya know on the male doctors! But honestly you won’t care so much on delivery day. I prefer to build a good relationship with one doctor throughout the whole pregnancy rather than seeing a different one almost every time. That way if something does come up in your pregnancy, you feel more confident in their ability to help you because they know your history and also just know you as a person. It’s more comforting to me that way, if that makes sense. Also, (not sure if this is how your hospital works) but our doctors don’t deliver the babies unless it’s a c-section or complicated/risky birth. They send in a midwife or med student to deliver the standard vaginal births and save the doctors for the emergencies and surgeries.
