We use this as our primary form of restraint at the psychiatric hospital in which I work. It is very effective and has definitely been a factor in reducing both patient and staff injuries
I plan on making a medical version of this chair that comes with a IV spike, a built in toilet, heated cushions and massagers, leather armrests with heaters, two front tires, and straps that automatically adjust to the persons build.
I had a hard time typing my comments. Somehow they ended up in the Replies column, not in the Comments as I wanted in the first place. I am not tech savvy. Thank you for your attention to my problem in which I want to have my comments move back to the Comments column.
These chairs are so stupidly designed. It takes a team of 6 cops fighting with straps to try to get someone strapped in while being at risk of being bitten. The undoing of handcuffs is the stupidest thing imaginable. A good design should allow one cop to be able to force someone into the chair and easily lock the paths of movement.
see supermax prison cell extraction it looks to me not as a good design it appears to me ankel straps pulled tight and appplyeng pressure to the shackles and back of the leg painfully my opinion
Not every parent has bad children. One good spanking when their young usually does the trick. 😆 They learn "consequences" for their actions. Simple and effective.
While this is true for individuals destroying property or injuring others who show continued signs of irritability and anger, the safety restraint chair is also known as the "medical restraint chair" which is used during situations where the inmate needs intravenous injections in order to sedate a individual injuring oneself (self mutilation). Plus with the safety restraint chair, there have been no reported deaths since its release. The old black restraint chair has been under some serious scrutiny recently with the number inmate deaths so agencies/departments avoid using it due to liabilities issues (lawsuit).
Actually 7 ppl have died in this chair as it's being used for torture. I am the only one who has survived. The straps were pulled so tightly I could hear my own tissue ripping. My hands and feet were purple and white I screamed begging them to stop. They all laughed.
Why is this used in hospitals? Medical restraints should be absolutely the last resort to prevent injuries to self or others. I have less of a problem with it used in corrections, but still should be ladt resort. With hospital patients softer padded restraints on a gurney or bed should be more standard. If someone is being treated for mental illness, it doesn't make them a criminal. Terms like "detainee or inmate" is highly offensive especially if they've not been accused or convicted of a crime. I cant believe this is used in hospitals! Terrible. I'm not completely opposed to hospital restraints, I'm opposed to this method.
Or instead of torturing an already mentally unstable person you let them do whatever they want with their own body and/or life. Once they pose a danger to someone else there are 100s of other options.
I was tortured with this device. And I am permanently injured. As in forever . Someday s I wake Up and panic because I think my arms are gone I wasn't resisting. I am going to make sure your chair is an archeic reminder of how barbaric behavior modification used to be. What on Earth were you thinking ? How do you sleep knowing you are responsible for numerous torcherous deaths and mamings ? Your contribution will be the same as Masuier Guilletine.
Seriously? I have seen these used on people hurting themselves and others. If it was improperly used on you I'm sorry but this is most definitely a needed device.

Awesome video, Thanks. Very well explained. Great video.
We use this chair on my job. Works like a charm.
Yes, it’s used to restrain people who are combative and violent.

Mike Donaway actually you can buy one off eBay for about 9,000 to 10,000 dollars so yeah

Often criminals are. I've seen videos of them both cuffed to the rails as well as soft wrist strapped into this particular chair.
@@rachaeloneil7614You’re saying this has only been used 8 times…lol
The chair is not needed. The carpeting alone is enough punishment.
😂
Surely the leg irons can come off after they are secured to the chair.
I would purchase one if you can add a crotch strap and a padded leather collar to it.
Also, I need it modified so I can lock myself in.
