    I've owned my 65 Corvair since before you we re born! Runs and drives like new. Fun car. Clarks Corvair parts has well over 10,000 different parts. My last belt was over 20 years when I replaced. When engine is cold you need to ba able to turn the generator/alternator fan with one finger. When engine is hot it will be tight. Too tight will cause lots of problems.

      I picked up my floor pans from Clark's for mine but as ya saw I'm my other video... The engine was trashed long before I got to the car... Or was alive lol... The 65 is such a cool body style... I'm in the process of picking up a 67 Monza coupe that I'll be doing a video on in the future! Next video I'm doing is getting a corvair I found in the junkyard to run so I can harvest the engine from it... Also came out with a set of 140hp Corsa heads too!... Gotta check out my junkyard tour...I found 5 or 6 corvairs in there... One of them being an early spider... They really are cool cars! Thanks for watching!

    Cool find! One smart thing to do when starting to work on an abandoned Corvair is to remove the “turkey roaster” top shroud over the fan. Rodents love to build nests in there and will block air flow. Get that cleaned out so it doesn’t overheat when you try to fire it up.
    Initially Corvairs were introduced in Oct ‘59 in only 4 door sedans in the base 500 line and the upscale 700 line. However the 2 door coupes became available in both lines in Jan ‘60. The 900 Monza coupe became available in April ‘60. Because of the late introduction they are fairly rare, but they do exist. No 900 Monza sedans were made for ‘60, but were introduced for the ‘61 lineup.

      I got the top shroud off and the upper cover and found some really bad destruction lol I can tell why it was parked all those years ago! If you check out my other video you can see how bad it really was! And the Monza option quickly became the most popular package for the corvair! And if all my research is right it was the most common package for the sedan in 61 .... Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!

    extend the front doors and eliminate the rear doors. Super coupe with that awesome wraparound rear window. You can set it up to run on one modern carb as well.

    If it is like most Corvairs it should not take that much to get in going; That's the best thing about a air-cooled engine they can sit along time, & start back up with a little work. Good luck on getting her going.

      I hope it doesn't take much...I figured out a lot of moisture got down the intake so she's been fighting me a bit... Next video will be quite interesting! Thanks for the good wishes and thanks for watching!

    That old Corvair got you a new subscriber, Corvairs are my Kryptonite, I love them all. What were they going to do with the convertible next to it? Can't wait to see part 2 but that motor looks pretty rough, good luck, you are going to need it I'm afraid, but I hope not. 😀✌❤

      I'm a fan of corvairs myself and couldn't pass this one up! And that convertible was for sale too but was missing an engine and transmission but wasn't in terrible shape and the motor had a rough go before it was parked...I put out a short part 2 on the engine so check it out! Thanks for watching! and thanks for the subscription!

    My first car was a '60 Corvair. Bought it in 1969 for $100. Lots of memories from way back when.

      They are such cool cars and your 60 had a lot of really cool one year only options...I bet ya had good memories with that car! Thanks for watching!

    Awesome find! I believe the four doors were Monza 700

      The 61 sedan was the first year for the 900 Monza option for the sedans... But it did keep a lot of the 700s fancier options.... Thanks for watching!

    You need to pull the carbs then the top cooling shroud as I guarantee the cooling fins are clogged with crap.

    • @Midnightautorepair
      @Midnightautorepair  10 місяців тому

      Already started on that to make sure the engine will make it to the next video... Was locked up solid so I pulled the carbs and upper sheet metal and ran a vacuum and air nozzle over everything so I wouldn't have any garbage fall in the engine while it's marinating in marvel mystery oil and automatic transmission fluid lol thanks for the advice! Next video is gonna be a battle!

    I have a 1960 900 Monza Coupe sitting in my grandparent's backyard, it came off the factory line in June 1960 out of Michigan according to the Tag in the engine compartment. You may want to take a look at that tag as well. You'll have Monza 900 on the dash (as you do) I wonder if this is a 62.

    • @Midnightautorepair
      @Midnightautorepair  5 місяців тому

      1960 is a really cool year for the corvair since it has a one year only front end and a 140 cubic inch engine... That's worth getting up and running! And I ran the code on mine and it came back as a factory 900 Monza sedan 1961 but it's getting an updated 63 102 HP engine since the original engine hydraulic'd a rod sometime 54 years ago lol so I can take a little creative license on building a new engine for it....I appreciate ya watching! and I'll have more content on it coming up soon as the weather is getting better here in north Carolina lol
