I honestly really wish that if a Soul Eater remake would ever get actually greenlit, Takuya Igarashi could get another chance at it. Although that could be unlikely considering he's been stuck with Bungo Stray Dogs.

Can't wait to see you do a video on Fire Force now that you've done SE, or the Monogatari series in general if we're speaking on fomer Shaft staff. Bake and Kizu in particular I'd love to see broken down. Your videos are very educational and entertaining, so keep up the great work! I use them to expand my knowledge and ensure I'm delivering accurate information in my own videos, just without getting into the nitty gritty of who animated what lol.
If you’re looking for better retention on videos, I’d recommend tightening them up a bit more so that they’re quicker, and throwing in more of the jokes that this one had. Chapters may help as well with your style of presentation. I myself don’t usually use them but found myself looking for them on this video when I wanted to go back to a specific segment.
Good to keep in mind that retention will vary a bit depending on the video and views, but by and large I think covering SE was a good idea. The previous ones I mentioned too, but covering this like Bocchi and CSM, discussing the internal production of studios like MAPPA - how CSM was falling apart, how it ties into JJK S2, why they take on so many projects, how they used to be - and general deep dives on anime studios would likely do very well. People don’t understand that a studio is sometimes just a name - Vinland S2, KonoSuba - and that sometimes they do play a big role in how an anime looks like in SE’s case.
You’d not only be covering current stuff with things like Bocchi, Gundam, etc. - perhaps Oshi no Ko next season and compare it to Kaguya and how works by the same author can get wildly different adaptations - but you’d also be carving a niche for yourself as an animation educator that people can easily refer back to as “this dude/video does a great job explaining why MAPPA is the way they are, why Kyoani is the way they are, etc.”
I think that could really blow up your channel, and I’d love for someone clearly educated and passionate on the subject to reach a wider audience than the people who currently do. I’m just spit balling ideas, tho. Let me know if you ever need any assistance and I’d be glad to help out as a fellow UA-camr.
Hope you keep killing it either way!

I remember the first time I "saw" Soul Eater. Everytime I would go to the mall and I'd sit in the food court there was this anime store nearby that sold anime stuff like Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, etc and one of its interesting aspects was the TV it had facing towards outside the store (to the passerby). I am not sure if it was reruns or it simply liked to show it but I remember seeing Soul Eater there all the time.
If I being honest, I thought it was weird at first, Im not sure what it was exactly (maybe the dark attire some of the characters wore as well as Death) but I thought I would never watch it but years later when I was a teenager, with netflix (i think I cant recall) I decided to try it out (especially since I was getting into anime) and I loved it so much! It makes me sad that I didn't "discover" it sooner but it is what it is.

I like to call those Action Flow Frames, for obvious reasons. Soul Eater definitely showed how they could change up the feel and dynamic of an action scene. Shows like Fate UBW and Demon Slayer have shown just how refined AFFs have become. There are a ton of other examples of them in other works and it's one of my favourite techniques that have been used in animation.

I would love to see a soft reboot of Soul eater where they don’t redo the whole anime but go back to a certain point in the story and continue from there. Like if they started where Medusa (possessing a child) surrenders to the D.W.M.A or redo the story from the start of the Arachne arc and then just follow the manga. If you still don’t understand what I mean look at the Blue Exorcist anime for reference. The end of season 1 had some anime only stuff from what I understand and season 2 over writes that ending and continues. When’s season 3 coming out?!

Soul eater is my special interest and I’m a super nerd for animation, so this video was super interesting!! I’ve always thought the soul eater anime was beautiful, even though the story lacked comparing to the manga, the songs, animation and style made up for it big time!

Straight facts, I'm surprised you didn't include Fire Force since it has the same creators and it has a Soul Eater easter egg of Maka's dad. Although that could be another video idea. Still a quality video regardless!

    • @forgottenrelics1197

It's unfortunately one of Wakabayashi's last major contributions to the industry but certainly one of his most ambitious, which is saying something considering his previous work on Naruto. It's controversy tho is no surprise, anime fans typically react negatively to staff that vear off model, and this one was probably one of the extreme examples of that.
Overall it's totally fine if people don't like it, when I first saw it the episode left me quite mixed. Although the criticisms leveled at it were often ignorant blaming budget or laziness.
