Cool.... I had a white 73 Hilux. That engine uses a double timing chain set up, the tensioners tended to get a bit loose and cause timing chain noise. Never skipped, but made intermittent racket. Also, there is a carburetor heat tube that is under the manifold that can end up with holes in it from the exhaust and direct exhaust gases back into the carb, it screwed my carb up to where the secondarys stopped working... But, that is a cool truck . I got mine at 83,000 miles in 1983 for $500.00 and ran it to 120 something a couple years later...
73 Hilux was my first car! Pulled a 66 Fairlane from Michigan to DFW with it. Could not kill that thing
Wow,the truck is a bad ass classic.
Though the build date is 1973, this truck was produced for the 1974 model year. 1972 & 1/2 and 1973 pickups had the fuel cap on the driver's side. From 1974 to the end of the RN20's production in 1978, the gas cap was on th passenger side.
Correct
Yeah,it's (high-locks ) hilux
Love it I have a 1976 Toyota hilux with the 20R just love that little truck is fun to drive not to many on the road
Interesting, Toyota belt buckles. Cool. I need to get me some now. Just for grins in the collection bucket.
With reverse. Handy
My Grandpa had one exactly like this one . Same color and all.. Thanks for posting . I wish I could find one to restore..
Man just give it a good wash job and call it good. with a good service it will still last a very long time yet. Those were hard to kill. I'm jealous.. I want another one like that.
I have a 1979 2wd long bed, the production date is January 2nd 1979. I looked 5 years for this body style toyota on the east coast, beautiful find sir. That'd be a solid chunk of change on the east coast
I had a ‘73 short box in white with an automatic transmission- ran great!
A diamond in the rough so rare to see one 🤩❤️..!!!
It's been 30 something years since the last time i saw that dashboard, i love the cone shaped cover in the gauges/speedometer my dad used to have i believe it was a 1975 Toyota Dyna 3000 with similar dashboard, man you just made me happy i got to see this.
My first truck in the mid 90s was a 72 toyota hilux with the tow package, had a granny first, and had made two trips from CA to Alaska towing a trailer. My buddy also got a 72 from his his dad, BOTH our odometers broke at 118,000.
That’s insane Toyota4Life!
That's one hell of a preserved truck
No way that was in a barn it wouldn't look the way it does in 44,000 miles or whatever the hell I guess more likely 144,000
Now this is a cool little pickup!
Such a beautiful pick up.
Beautiful vehicle!!
I had a 74 Toyota HiLux with the 18RC engine.
Great Little truck.Keep it away from people like Chip Foose.. they will destroy it
No kidding .
Toyota truck 1960 to late 1995 have fully boxed frames
Amazing. Solid truck...
What a beautiful truck :)
That's a beautiful find I'm not much for foreign rigs but that doesn't change it's condition nice find
Defiantly agree. That's a crazy good barn find.
Beautiful truck, very rare to find one that straight and rust free. These were throw away vehicles, people used them, beat them up, they rusted out, junked and crushed. Nobody ever thought about preservation.
As for the patina, I'd leave it as is, give the mechanicals a once over, replace every rubber door seal, hose and vacume line and leave it at that. Use it for weekend runs to the hardware store and the local cruise in. If you start to paint this truck, its going to be one of those never ending things IMO. You're going to want to paint the door jambs, fender wells, under the hood, do you pull the motor to paint under the hood??? Gotta paint the inside of the doors too, before you know it you're doing a frame off restoration.
🤣true about never ending
It's really beautiful
That's nice for a 44 year-old Toyota Hi-Lux. Love it man.
Sweet looking Toyota Hilux truck.
good find....I had a 1988 toyota pick up. .80 thousand miles on it for $1200 dollars I put 100 thousand miles on it .no problems at all ..except rear pin seal on axle and break light thing under dash...30 mpg all day long. ..all end..28mpg..
yo this truck is awesome!!
keep it like that or path it up and paint it. the truck is amazing to have, and lucky
Love this one , I have a 78 Toyota sr5 very unique, different from a Hi Lux .
I thought the difference is just where it was sold, all hilux were sold as pickups in the US
I have a 77 sr5 longbed pickup, love these little trucks man
muy bonito saludos de encenada bc
you got the better end of that deal....that's a beautiful truck.
Cool truck
Nice truck.. Change out all of the rubber.. Hoses etc.. Lubricant on all metal on metal.. Almost like cleaning an old gun! Good luck dude.. I drive an 86 Toyota Pickup everyday.. Great trucks.. Only wish they had air bags 🤕
Kevin Francis Fuck airbags. We die like real men!
*perfect specemine for a complete frame off restoration*
i have a 1976 baby blue, just an amazing vehicle
I have a creme colored 77 I wanna do babyblue , sounds bitchen dude
@@timothy2935 color blue or white bro 👍
Nice find!
If you find it in a barn it's a barn find. Excellent truck! Excellent shape!
A barn find would have all kinds of critters living in it and most of the electrical would be chewed up
You lucky shit I would never paint that truck in my opinion it’s just get a clear coat the patina on it is beautiful
My first truck went I was 18 was a red 72 hilux 4 speed. I drove it four years and years. It was a clean truck also
!!!!jesuscrist !!!!!! The the horn is working. Incredible. And have the owner manual impossible!!!😀😀😀
Nice truck! The old ones didn't rust as bad as the newer ones. I had an 81 with a 4cyl. deisel! I kick myself in the butt for ever getting rid of it! Had hardly any rust at all and ran great! Not a high speed vehicle, but lots of torque with that lil deisel!
They used to be petrol engines..no diesel ones dump fuck.
81 still used to use petrol .. fucking y tube troll
@@km5444 your mother raised such a nice person...I mean f-in idiot! I had one. I know!🥴🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
@@km5444 bite me!
If those seats have tears in it has to be more than 100 K. No doubt. Check floor gas pedal.
X insurance estimator.
Wow! Just wow!
BashamMotorsports $?
mark you are killin it !!!!!!! love this. please buy it for me - ur biggest fan
Haha thanks a bunch Bridget!!!!!!!!!
It's original one from the past. How lucky you are.
Great shape!
I'm jealous
Clear coat this truck. Save the patina👌
Nice truck
i wish id never seen this video. that is my dream truck. i am having hell finding one...
Good luck finding your unicorn
Nice truck! Hard to find!
beautiful truck, awesome condition, and how was the area where the weather stripping is connected to the top of the cab at the top of where the door meet the cabin, I've seen a few trucks where the stripping is cracked and can hold water, which we all know leads to rust. but overall I'm happy to have just seen a truck like this!
Come to Oregon there's tons, I have a 71 hilux that's in crazy good condition. And a 78 that's mint.
I was just thinking of saying that most old cars in oregon still look new
tim the man god why is that? That state also has lots of well maintained classic RVs
I want to see your Hi Lux
I just bought one today for 500 bucks. Straight drives great. One owner
Im in oregon
Looks like the heater core is leaking have you guys taken care of that problem I see a little Trail of dry water running from it down to the passenger side floor?
I've never seen a Hilux of that body style. What a fantastic little survivor truck but do you keep it like it is and just lacquer it or do you do an all-out resto? I'd love to be the one to have to make the choice...
I love all toyota cars. I wish have a car
😍
I got one out of a junkyard in 1991. It was a nice truck. Sorry that I sold it
Patina. Keep it, drive it that way.
Great find! I'd drive it as is, but I could understand if you'd like to paint it back to original. Sooner or later, all things need new paint. Maybe upholstery. Otherwise, leave it alone.
This would be ideal to restore to original
I miss my 88 toyota. ...
I have a 72 hilux runs great
Kevin Castro want to sell it?
Sorry brother, but it was given to me by my grandfather it would be really hard to give it up it
Is it an RN14 or and RN20 series?
I agree, it's perfection! ,,I drive a Toyota to , very reliable.
That is a keeper. Give it a polish with some Patina butter and drive it daily.
My first car was a 1969 toyota corona the motor looked the same and the dashboard door panels very simular
that's fucking mint man !!!
wow
You one lucky man ...
My first vehicle
Have my 1976 listed on Craigslist rn if interested
Absolutely what’s the link?
Neat little truck. Are those supposed to be lights on the side of the cab?
"HIGH-LUCKS" (HILUX) not particularly difficult to pronounce. This was the begining of the demise of the american trucks in other parts of the world. Cheap(er), robust, reliable and efficient. Still a few of these buggers driving around Africa doing heavy work.
good
It's got the silhouette of one of those support out troops ribbons on the tailgate so the earliest it was ever put in the barn would be like early to mid 2000's
Bot : That is not right . When that sticker was put on the truck would be when The Iran Hostage Crisis back in 1981 . From what I can see the idiot pealed it off just before messing with this truck .
as Richard Rawlings says .."just clearcoat that" and sell it !and would love to see you sell more vintage iron
Cool truck WITH Rust. He needs help with narrative
That’s surface rust that does not effect the structural integrity of the teuck
Center America .....is the paradise for the kind truck Toyota sr5 .........the same like Datsun 1500
Toyota truck from 1960 to late 1995 have fully boxed frames
I will say when your selling something it is funny the way it's narrated man look at this it has the original motor ......4spd with reverse with a truck like this it's fine as is 👌 it wouldn't be worth a frame off resto since the truck ain't worth more than 5k max it take 10,000 plus to restore it the plus it's cheap to rebuild that motor and trans and in 75 and under they were so simple anyone can work on it definitely a nice driver .
I want a 75 and I wanna k-swap it as a project , beautiful truck
I have one for sell
I live in California
ques equipment pics ?
Do you have a Facebook of IG
ques equipment my ig is mr2cito
Wich I had it" as is,,I wonder if a rx7 engine will in it,,you have a nice ride..
Such an awesome truck
Looks like my '85 Toy pick up
Evening now days is barn find, evening when sits exposed to sun.
Tripling Price.
turned over a few times -those odometers flipped back to 0 after 99,999 -i have the exact same truck thought it was low miles too
Dan Kirchner those pedal covers don't appear to have 100,000 miles on them ..
never know -yet i've seen fresh looking pedals on 200k odometers
Do you still have it?
I just got a 1975 toyota hilux with a wood flatbed with a 20r engine in it.
Where’s the video to prove it?
72 horsepower with torque at 144
Burnout city
It's a machine beauty, they were and will always be. I'm s. Best
Any old vehicle that was protected somewhat by any structure is a barn find, no matter the condition. If you find it in an actual barn, then it's a barn find. How is the weather stripping still good... I mean not all there, but functional and not hardened up.
Very nice track, is it for sale
I appreciate the kind words everyone!!! Thanks!!!! I’m so enthusiastic about vehicles like this one i had!!! Post some links to yours on my UA-cam channel!!! Can’t wait to see!!!

Nice truck but I think u got a little to excited on the frame thing?it's 2500$ truck in my opinion
Nice but newer than my first Toyota, mine was a 1970 Hilux I got used in mid 70's. I knew this was newer as soon as I saw it because it actually has front turn signals under its bumper. Early imports didn't have any up front signals, but' they had side view mirrors right on top of the fenders so to conform to our laws Toy or dealers ordering them moved the mirrors to the doors and placed tractor style turn signals in their old fender holes and Ta-da, there ya go! lol
If Toyota only knew I was going to drive the shit right out of it, over load it almost twice what it legally should ever carry every week and then total it out they'd certainly not went to so much trouble doing those signals for me..lmao That poor truck... It sure sold me on Toys reliability even back then it was remarkably tough trucks. But I do remember having to call around to order a new starter once, we had no actual dealers back then. Random new car dealers sold a few here/there around the country we were told but' no one ever sold them near me. Small town, so most everyone knew each other and nobody knew where it came from? It sure took a good while to get that starter direct from Japan. Now' UPS/USPS wasn't like today trust me it took weeks I know that because I pushed started it every time waiting on it. lol. Starters then were $15-$20, but' mine was so special it cost me $71.71. I still reel from the sticker shock, oh ya' I then had to locate a shop with metric tools, very few shops actually had those up until the mid to late eighties believe it or not.
Nice Hilux' you'll have a hard time finding another one like it in this shape.
Has this been sold? Very interested.
