We are struggling to find a boat in Bodrum! It is proving to be difficult to find one close to us. Turkey is a very big country as you know and takes hours in a car just to move from A to B.
We are considering to rent a car but the driving skills of the people here in Turkey are leaving us very discouraged. As the taxis are very cheap, we are moving by taxi but 2/3 hours is a bit far go go by taxi so we are trying to find the best way to do it.
We might have to get the Ferry to Kos, in Greece to see some and then another Ferry to Rhodes and back to Turkey via Marmaris where it looks that are some more boats for sale around there.
So we go through our plans on how we are going to afford to buy this boat that we want, the Lagoon 450 Flybridge or another major brand around 45f long.

    A little bit about us...
We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream!
Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia.
We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way.
Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is!
As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream.
We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

Hi Guys. Very exciting project. So glad you are doing this. As others have mentioned I do think that Lagoons reputation has suffered a bit with the bulkhead issues. After an extensive search I just purchased a Leopard 48 in the Caribbean. I do think the build quality is a little better than the Lagoons.
    Just my 2 cents worth.
If you do buy a Lagoon 38 I think one area you guys could improve would be the galley. I think that’s always been one of the weak points of an otherwise decent design.
    Cheers Nick

As an Armchair sailor I would avoid older Lagoons. There are horror stories on social media with the bulkhead issues.

I think you are thinking of the 450 and the 400. They are not the older designs but some of the newer model. The hull bulkheads on the 450s are being addressed by Lagoon but sadly for most the 400 are not.
The 400 has, amongst other problems, the main bulkhead that has been known to rot under the water tanks, but not on all boats.
They are still great boats and having owned a 400, I would buy another, but a 450 is where our hart is. With or without wobbly bulkheads

Got to get afloat again on the big blue sea after the dull river Thames. And Carla wants to sail around the world. So that is the end game.

In my humble opinion and given the current market conditions I would first sell the current boat and opt for a 40ft. cat. Take your time, do not rush in making your selection on just one make.

Thank you John. We are open to any brand really, the best price is going to come first. We are analysing them all as you will see on next weeks video and onwards.

i would stay away from Lagoon for a good few years. you say you dont want to do much work, but you do realize bulkheads are the talk of the day and, to the best of my knowledge, no one really knows the extent of the design fault when it comes to other models, - not only the 450, but all of this is being hushed. Im not saying you cant make money flipping a boat, but THESE particular boats are radioactive in my view. if you are doing bullkhead repairs and a common-sense future owner ( yes i know common sense isnt common) comes along and asks about your experience with structural repairs, what are you telling him? or if you arent doing any repairs because there are none to be, apparently, done, what assurances can you give someone that the boat is solid? a normal survey?! the actual state of he industry both in the brokerage and surveying sides are nothing short of appauling and downright criminal in a lot of cases. best of luck. you already dodge a bullet by not taking on that huge project just before the smaller barge showed up. i hope you can dodge another. all the best.

I still think they are great boats. As far as I know the 380 didn't have any structural problems unlike the 450 and the 400.
I agree that who knows if the repairs to the 450 is a sticking plaster or a sold repair.
Carla is still very pleased that we didn't buy the green Humber barge. And the boat we bought was more than enough work for one season.
      Best wishes
