Perhaps more period than my 1940 Gents electric master clock or my 1950s Bush radio! My only potential upgrade would be to investigate Riley's history of using the crosshead screw; a heathen device best eliminated if there is any excuse for a straight slotted screw. Do you have the luxury of Britax seat belts or just rely on a felt motorway safety cap ? Looking forward to some motoring antics.

Hey, that is very observant indeed ! Yes cross head screws, what a pain they are but they are the originals, no seatbelts, pleases do stay tuned for the adventures to come, it's going to be a spiffing ride

@@fourwheelswobble Blimey, that's Riley's advanced fastener selection for you! You could outdo Hubnut with your excellent coaxing and fettling; I'll move onnto your runs out with interest. My classics sit folornly in sheds awaiting the round tuit; only my Series 1 is from the 50's however. The 'felt motorway safety hat' comment springs from a 1950s Autocar advert in a pile I bought in Haye on Wye. I'm sure your Riley must have been compared there to a Jowett Javelin at some point and the Tapley Brake Tester deployed. All great fun, my favourite childhood cars were Dad's Mk2 Zephyr and a P4 Rover 100 mothballed in deference to the Popular in the 1973 fuel crisis. Lowest points undoubtedly were sadly all Fords which were not great in the damp, with the Pop, a Thames van and the dreaded Mk1 Cortina estate being the most reluctant.

@@fourwheelswobble More time warp decrepitude and loss of focus. You are wiser with two good classics.
