You were spot on, it is Japanese 🙂 It's got that 90's-2000's alternative rock Tool/Radiohead feel to it. I dunno, familiar sounds but hard to tell what it is. The second track sounds like Incubus a little bit at the beginning yeah? Fun video man
downy were/are a big part of the Japanese post rock scene, and it seems like every album brings something new to the mix. if you're looking for similar bands, try out 'envy - All the Footprints You've Ever Left and the Fear Expecting Ahead' or 'coaltar of the deepers - yukari telepath' but they don't reach that proggy goodness downy achieves.
Not sure about the Radiohead comparison tbh, but this group sounds like some kind of a cross between Shellac and early Battles. Neat vibes, love me some more Japanese math goodness 😤👍

From Battles, “Mirrored” is their most popular and my favorite from them Personally between the two I’d recommend “Mirrored”, however in my opinion this sounds more like early Unwound during the more post-hardcore songs
