I'm a Terran around 3200 MMR (barely diamond 3) there's no way that the second game was a gold player, not even close! He made a push with a freaking tank and 5 marines, didn't waste it, was extremely fast, hit 400 APM a few times, and most importantly, he used ghosts! So, he was smurfing or there were some big problems with that game
I am masters around 4k and I have similar or worse gameplay. Especially his ghost control was good. His stim usage was worse. But I would have put it like masters 2. Probably a guy I would lose to. But like the toss also was better than gold 3 no?
DUDE i just guess Diamond 3 every time and thought hamster was pulling my leg by picking the same rank each time like answering only C in the finals exam
This was far and away my best set of games. I entered my guess before watching the players discuss, so I wasn't gaslit by Reynor in game 2. I had identical guesses to the captain on all games except for game 2, where I guessed gold 2
Took the terran like 5s to EMP and the protoss didn't use that time to use the templar at all. It's clear from that despite making the units they don't use them in any effective manner.
Second game was a complete scam. Dude had Ghosts in his army and was landing EMPs; that doesn't even happen in platinum, and might be in 1/20 games in my D3 matches. This was not fair to Reynor.
Reynor still deserved to lose for the last guess lol. Terran clearly had no idea how bio Vs baneling micro works, which is a pretty fundamental TvZ micro interaction. Running into the mineral lines was a good move, and anyone could mess up the target fire, but the real giveaway was the micro in the middle of the map off-creep. A Terran who knows how to micro bio vs Zerg would have control clicked back the marines then split the marines, deffo not moved the marine/marauder as a clump trying to kite with it, he was treating the banelings as if they were chargelots.
@@tambaz2276 Yeah, I have no idea why he thought that was M1. Terran was on 2 base for like 12 minutes and had no idea how to split or even pre split his units. Honestly surprised it was Diamond. The dude micros like I do and I'm plat 1 on a good day.
The tell, in my opinion, was the response time by both players. The protoss was just standing in the fire, so to speak, when it came to the EMPs, something definitely similar to what a gold player would do. Furthermore, on Korea at least, gold players are competent enough to use ghosts these days. However, I was still just as shocked as anyone else. I think the only other real big tell was the timer and how much they were floating. Way too much floating to be above diamond
@@74HC138 It's not that hard to click on a clump of units. The tricky part is using EMP while microing/stimming your army so it doesn't die to a disrupter shot. My toss is 3200 and most of the terrans I play skip ghosts and focus on microing the rest of their bio (or they just play mech and I get a free win lol).
That gold game, I could tell is was below diamond due to the complete lack of micro, 2 armies just facing each other. The trouble with diamond games is diamond players are massively inconsistent - I'm in D3, and some days I wonder how my opponent got out of bronze, sometimes I wonder how I got out of bronze, and occasionally I have a really good run where I think I'm on the way to D1 or maybe higher, only in the next game to play like I'm in bronze. So it's really hard to say what league a D3/D2 game is going to be because the play is so inconsistent.
gold makes sense, because you noticed it yourselves: suddenly, the enemy behind, had an additional base gold players can do good macro and micro but lose control of the game often
I figured plat for game 2 because toss was f2ing everywhere which doesn’t really happen above plat (with tempest players anyway lol), and the ghost micro was ok-ish because while he did use them, he spammed like 10 emps on things that had no shields and certain low league players do actually use spellcasters from time to time.
Hi harstem, the bug with the cyclone is not just the increased firing rate. The temporary fix patch for the homestory cup is still wrong. I hope that you can report this to avoid the bug fix still being wrong, thanks. (All data are editor time, to convert to in-game time, you need to multiply by 0.714) (1)Lock On ability now incorrectly fires missiles at a 0.812 seconds duration (should be 1), and fires immediately when finishing the lock on (should have 1 second delay) (2)After the "Lock On" skill effect ends, the CD of the skill will be incorrectly set to 4 seconds. (should be 6). (3)Cyclones incorrectly gain +1 attack for each attack upgrade (should be 2).
Well I am learning from the comments that apparently masters players don't get upgrades because at 25 minutes in to the second game both players had only one one and Mr. protoss didn't have any air upgrades for his tempests. I thought that made this one really easy, but I guess upgrades are unimportant or something.
Reynor was done dirty, second game was minimum diamond 2, solid timings, landing emps, decent macro. I dont know why that game was even approved, those guys were smurfing 100%
Wasnt done that dirty tho, no way he was going to playoffs anyway with his last guess. Guessed M1 for the Terran who was treating Bio Vs Baneling micro the same way he would against Zealots.
What solid timings did you see there? Hamster literally pointed out that they had way less supply. Look at the tankpush timing and unit count, it's really bad.
Spoiler: Honestly i don't like that we get smurf games into rank roulette. No way the 2nd game is actually that league... In the first 15 seconds we've got marine splits and pull backs, usage of guardian shield, a single battery, toss is waiting as long as possible to break out (next tank shot would have killed the pylon), building stuff behind.. Terran has high apm through the game, building units while pressuring, stutter stepping with stim, base trading, using EMPs, has decent unit compositions, etc... Look at the APM at 7:50... There is literally no way, this is g2. I mean it is no GM Game but most definetly those guys are between d3 und m2... Sadly that stuff distorts the competition :|
Agreed. I am disappointed. I am like masters 3 sometimes dia 1 and I feel like, this is the kind of people I have to deal with usually. And I think I would lose to that Terran.
Yes, but if 20% of all gold players are smurfs, then one could argue that these games also belong in Rank Roulette. I mean Reynor is a World Champion. I bet Serral would have seen through that 🤣
@@Johnny-Joseph People dont really use spellcasters until diamon league. I'm plat and I havent played againts ghost in long ass time. Everyone just bc rush as terran.
Keep in mind that they had very little supply and just in general macroed poorly. And while the terran had ghosts the ghost usage was very slow. The 1 tank 5 marine push is also setting the terran up for an autoloss against any even a little bit competently executed blink build so if the terran does that every game they will lose a lot of games per default if ti was dia.
I had to watch that again. I'm Gold 3, so this should be close to my level, but is it? I think it might be, maybe?! They were impressed by the Toss holding the tank push, but he was floating tons of minerals and was supply blocked at that time. It wasn't like he played like an ace to defend it, lol. The Terran gave him at least a full minute to build stuff in this "push". Also, apparently noone ever successfully defended any base. The whole game appears to be one big base trade, which sounds a lot like the games I have, lol. And I think the fights were mostly just a-moving big piles of units into each other. And why are they saying he played Tempest/Colossus? Have I overlooked the Colossi!? What I see are a lot of Templar that literally do nothing. They just a-move with the army. I'm not really sure I've seen anything that looked really high level there. Maybe the EMPs on the Templars were something. But the weird base-switching should be a red flag, too. They called it less chaotic and high level very early, but they should have reverted that in the end, I think.
No way that the zerg from game 1 was in d3. Protoss maybe, because he had some idea for a build order and he was spending his money nicely, but that is still very misleading when you have to guess the league after some silver zerg does nydus. Game 2 being GOLD 2 on NA SERVER is a straight up bullshit, terran had 300-400 apm and the toss was in the game for 15miutes with him, there's absolutely no way those guys had only 2400 MMR on NA.
If you (Harstem) ever need a tie breaker series, here are some suggestions: 1. Get Hampster to maliciously edit the replay to be as misleading as possible. 2. Get videos of 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4. 3. Get a video of a hacker or Smurf, and mention to the contestants that one of the players is a hacker/Smurf. Just for the drama and spice. 4. Get all participants of Rank Roulette to submit a video of them playing on the ladder, with the knowledge that one of the videos they watch, will be of themselves or one of their opponents.

This just shows that there are the couple real pro players (like top 30 maybe, if I'm being generous), and then there is the rest. It doesn't matter if you're silver or GM, we are talking about a 20% understanding of the game +-5% between silver and GM.
