Wow. Simplicity at its best, Period. Totally functional and incredibly affordable. I just purchased my first ever house. Having zero , ( ZERO) Furniture, this is the project for me. As well, the lumber can easily be transported in a normal car or suv with fold down seats. I do own a lathe, so turning the legs will be a new challenge. Well done, great well lit video with good audio.
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
Thank you, thank you! I'm gearing up to do a full sectional with built in corner table, bumper and chase. This gave me so many ideas and tips. Much gratitude.
That's awesome!! good luck!
If you don't have a biscuit joiner and biscuits and want to do this project you can also use a drill and some dowels for the main board at the bottom.
Looking good, Mike! I know the feeling of putting off projects that intimidate you. Sometimes you just gotta pulled the trigger and be prepared to fail and learn if needed. Good job!
+Carter Wilson Workshop with Bradley Boggs No doubt, it's funny that something that was intimidating to me last week seems easy now haha!
Oooh! I like that. Simple, yet elegant!
Aye, much love for the 405 man! Keep up the great work!
Velcro would be nice to keep the cushions in place! Awesome build! I think I might try it myself!
+robertoms yep, already on the list haha!
If you use a non slip mat instead you could flip the cushion when you want to
I was amazed when you stood on it. Modern glue is mindblowing.
Yes it is!
The wood will break before the glue gives way.
“Modern glue” made me laugh lol but yes I agree
Dude. So good! One of my favs of yours for sure! Thanks for the inspiration!
+Erin Longfellow Awesome, my. Favorite too I think!
Great design, the final result was awesome
I've been looking for something like this for years! Thank you so much!
Glad you dig it!
Tablesaw tip, don't crosscut against the rip fence.
Beautiful work. Thank you for showing this how to.
Mrs. Gabbert has one of these on my video list. You did a good job on both the half laps and the dowel joints. You're on the right track, do whatever you gotta do with what you have, make it happen and learn from it. Very cool video.
+Adam Gabbert Exactly, the only way to get better is to try new things!
Thank you for this! I was looking for plans for a prop couch I wanted to make for a Halloween installation I am working on and this is perfect!
Good job, my favorite project of yours thus far.
+Mark Ewing I think it's mine too!
Nicely done Mike!!! Looks GREAT!
+DIY Modern Thanks guys!
Love love love it! I want one!
Com todos esses equipamentos fica show demais trabalhar.
This was so awesome! I just found you while I was looking for a video on how to build something close to what I was looking at (it’s called a dreamer couch). And as informative and easy as you made this look, I was wondering why we couldn’t just glue two big pieces of plywood together for the seat instead of glueing all of those pieces?
Cool Couch!
Best video tutorial i have seen on this style, been looking for awhile
Sweet! Thanks a lot man.
This is one of my favorite designs of yours. Can't wait to get a chance to build one myself! Also, big fan of the podcast! Keep up the great work.
He didn’t design this. He copied a design by George Nelson from 1950. You can find it if you search “George Nelson daybed.”
This couch looks awesomeee! Loved it
+Maria Clotilde Alves Sampaio That's awesome, thanks a lot!!
Sinceramente espectacular...
Love your videos. Thinking about starting a project soon.
The video is 7yrs old yet your sofa is so modern. I would love to have it in Japandi project. Lots of love from Brazil. ❤😮
Dang, I actually had those legs on a table - wobbliest table ever for years. I wish that I had your solution - just cut off the ends. Beast.
Dude I love the sofa. Making one for my office.
That's awesome dude! let me know how it goes
Adding some tufting or buttons could kick the design up a notch. Really love it.
+edharlingen75 maybe, I like the clean lines, but thanks!

Awesome. Awesome and Awesome. Did I mention Awesome? When I do this, and I will, I will likely make my own square/tapered 4x4 short peg-legs.
Nice dude! I think that'd look really good. Tag me in s picture if you do, I'd love to see it!
Great build. I'm planning on building my own sofa, but quotes for similar sized cushions in New England are much more expensive than $200. I'm probably going to go the DIY route for that as well.
so simple but nice..and i love it!
Thanks a lot!!
Great video again, Mike!
+Michael Czepak Thanks Mike
It's looks awesome I love it
Really liked this build.
+riverroxmusic Awesome, I appreciate it
I'm thinking for your half-lap joints, if you put stop blocks on the piece you are cutting, you could use a router and get it done more quickly and do less chiseling.
Maybe. I hate routers though haha!
As good a reason as any to avoid them
Cool build Mike!!
+Matthew Medeiros Thanks Matt
Anoda week anoda great vid
Nice job Mike.
+RetroWeld Thanks Doug!
great stuff man,
thank GOD my husband is a furniture wood worker. great job bother.
This is great!
that is beautiful.
Thanks!
*Waaaw c'est du très bon travail 👍👍👍🤗*
simple and classy!
+Mehran Jabbari Thanks a lot!
Love it !
Great job, I just found your channel and subscribed. I do a lot of work with construction grade lumber and love to see this type of stuff made form inexpensive material. Big fan of the modern style. When gluing up the panel for the base, try using a caul across the top on both ends. I have found this really helps keep the boards straight and flat. Between that and the biscuits, you can really cut down on your sanding time. I make mine myself from 2x4's. Keep up the good work.
Thanks man! You're right, I started using caul boards my last couple panel glue ups and they helped out a ton
Awesome build!
+Gabe Schultz Thanks Gabe
Hey, great looking couch. I'll be trying to build something like this very soon for my new apartment in NYC. A lot of what you did I'm going to have to improvise because I don't have access to all those tools. But hopefully something great will come out of it.
That's awesome! If you have any question shoot me a DM on Instagram and I'll try and help as much as I can
Love it
