Andrew’s two vids on this iKamper tent-annex reinforces our previous research, and our expectations to purchase it in the coming months. His presentation and location (Snake Rv ?) is a great backdrop! Look forward to his future offerings!
Great vid and realistic assembly. Seems like more of a pain than the Tepui Autana annex. However , I like the hard shell vs soft shell of the tent but I enjoy a auxiliary space. So drinking game: keyword TAUT! 😂
Good review, could have covered whether or not it had a floor in the video but it was answered in the comments. These rtt's look awesome but I'm not sold on the annex. No floor to stop water flooding in if it pours and looks like a pain to set up from the ladder with separate zippers and poles everywhere.
My favorite line in the video. I would recommend offsetting the guy lines to the awning to nearly perpendicular to the opposite line, about 45°. Helps to reduce the sag between poles.
Very cool! That sure increases your square footage. And simple set up. Looking foward to the road trip videos. Have fun my friend! I know the vids will be good stuff
Very cool. I like it. The annex room that came with my CVT absolutely sucks. Also can you un-mount the tent from your roof rack? The nylon nuts I had to use for the CVT made the bolt heads strip out the aluminum track system. Hope that makes sense. Thanks!
Does this tent have to have a camper shell? Or can you buy some racks to install over the truck bed and install it on that? Also will it fit on a Tacoma?
We just purchased this tent with the annex. We will try it a couple of nights in a week and go to a two weeks trip in about twenty days. We're really excited. You mention a one month trip with this. How was the built-in mattress? I was considering to get a small memory foam topper of a couple of inches... Would you recommend it ? Thanks for your cool review BTW.
I like the ikamper tent on how fast it is to deploy and pack up. I like the globe print inside the tent too. I think that is really cool! However, the annex seemed like a lot of work, and if you needed to leave for whatever reason, this would not be easy to pack away. Furthermore, I have read reviews where people can not store their sleeping bags in the ikamper 2.0; they said the ikamper 2.0 would not close all the way, that is an issue. Currently, I am running the original tepui ruggedized autana 3. I love this tent. It has been in rain and snow and has performed flawlessly for the past four years. The annex on the tepui is super simple by attaching one-and-done zipper system with no tent poles necessary. I can also access the inside of my 4runner from my annex, which is super convenient in the event of a storm or cold weather. I can also deploy a queen size air mattress in it if I have company. I like the convenience of the ikamper hard shell system but, I am still pessimistic about the longevity of the hydraulic arms to keep the tent taught to keep me safe. I also wish it had more oversized windows. I will have to wait and see if I will make the $4k dollar upgrade or keep my current trustworthy and somewhat easy system to set up.
Andrew, Does the annex room have a floor? If so is it permanently attached or can it be remo ed with zipper? I gave the Ikamper on order...probably won't see until late August or September. Thanks for your videos. Keep'em coming!
I like the fact that there is no ground matting connected. This will keep the annex mostly clean and a separate grounding can be used. Love the Xcover. I’ve camped in it a few times now 👍👍
As long as you have standard roof rack mounts. It will fit. Click the full review of the Roof Top Tent review in this video. It will show you how they attach

I have an annex for mine and it works well, but I have my rooftop tent extending over the rear of the vehicle and that works well for my vehicle as it covers the "working area" when in use. BUT, the setup does take extra time and will only be used if setting up as a base camp for say a week, as the setup and packup time would kill the adveture.
Great review. The annex room looks cool, but with no floor and the fact that it takes as much time to set up as many tents, it's sort of the opposite ethos of the SkyCamp.
Except it is completely enclosing your rooftop tent from the elements and allows you to get up and out of your tent in the morning and have breakfast/coffee/or whatever you want to do in privacy or away from the elements. I lay down some outdoor mats on the ground and I can walk barefoot in the annex room.
GOOD VIDEO but Nightmare setup compared to a TEPUI or CVT. Traded a flip of the cover step for 20 other guidelines and 3 zipper points. Possibly great for support trailer or pull behind with this as a RTT. Being able to pull out and explore is key
Hey mate, greetings from Australia. I ordered myself the X-Cover, awning and annex room - I look forward to testing it out in the Aussie outback. I’d love to see some more drone footage. P.S I like your pants and shirt in this video, what brands are they?
Lol “they are delicious “😋😂😂😂 that’s exactly my phrase . Wife gets mad when I say that. Great videos, I am in for a RTT and mainly I was considering South African brands or Australian but you gravitate my mind towards Ikamper, Btw what’s GPS coordinations to that location you filmed
That's cool but I think for the price a big Coleman tent would be a better choice. Way cheaper and probably just as durable. And if you wanted to leave the camp for exploring you wouldn't have to take down everything.
My biggest hesitation with the annex (vs an ARB awning room) is that there's no floor. On the one had that reduces wear and tear but on the other hand you're essentially creating a trap for any bugs that crawl in under the walls. So if you're in an area with flies/mosquitos/etc. you wouldn't want to run any lights in there.
Why does it seem like everything needs an "i" in there name... lol, I'm not complaining or anything just something I noticed with random things I see at the store or on the internet!
MANNY~EmberDim agreed. Ever since the first iphone iback in i2007 itheres been an itrend with every icompany i-naming their iProducts with an “i”. I have been annoyed from the start. Just goes to show that apple really influenced the world with marketing perspective.

only thing I DO NOT LIKE is they made the annex without flooring. they should have to keep the 'indoors' nice and clean.
That is when you buy a 10x10 blue tarp and put it on the floor. Used them forever in the old army canvas tents. Easier to keep clean.
This thing is awesome. Makes me want to go camping immediately. Appreciate going over this really cool product.
Gorgeous backdrop and seems like a straight-forward, easy-to-use product
I subscribed for the fact that you were willing to point out pros and cons vs trying to sell a product.

I kept getting distracted by the background!
Excellent product, it appears. Thanks for posting.

🤙🏽 Thank you
Great review
How long would u say, it takes u to set-up annex.
Planning on getting the annex plus.
Wonder if the hassle setting up is worth it.
Thx
Takes me about 20 minutes

"Hey look, an antelope. They are delicious." Enough said!
lol yep!
My favorite line in the video. I would recommend offsetting the guy lines to the awning to nearly perpendicular to the opposite line, about 45°. Helps to reduce the sag between poles.
Great look at the annex, can’t wait to see the rest of the vids from this trip!
Looks like a hassle to setup. Would this be practical for setting up and breaking down daily on a 1 week overland trip?
Very cool! That sure increases your square footage. And simple set up. Looking foward to the road trip videos. Have fun my friend! I know the vids will be good stuff
😎🤙🏽 Thank you

Thanks!
Do the 2 poles holding up the awning come as standard when purchasing the Annex or do you have to buy them separately?
Yes you get a few poles with the annex but getting more for the pop outs is needed
In the video, your bag says its the 2X Annex, but you linked the Skycamp 4X Annex. It's the 2X that fits the XCover, correct?
Correct the link should be fixed now. Good lookin out.
Does this tent have to have a camper shell? Or can you buy some racks to install over the truck bed and install it on that? Also will it fit on a Tacoma?
What year is ur tacoma? Just curious
Plenty of bed racks for your Tacoma go support this RTT
Do you own a whole bunch of that land or are you able to just do what you want there?
What kind of truck bed topper are you using?
We just purchased this tent with the annex. We will try it a couple of nights in a week and go to a two weeks trip in about twenty days. We're really excited.

Hi i am interested in the xcover plus awning how are they doing on strong winds? Thanks greetings from austria, George
18month FULL follow-up review video just was released
Super rad setup. I feel like I’d get it all set up and then I’d decide I need to drive my truck somewhere, so I’d have to roll it all up again
Takes me 5-10min to completely set up or break down
great vid Andrew. loving the haircut too!
😎🤙🏽
Nice Review with lots of good information. IKamper with annex room is currently my top choice for my Gladiator overland build. Thanks!
Andrew,
Does the annex room have a floor? If so is it permanently attached or can it be remo ed with zipper?
I gave the Ikamper on order...probably won't see until late August or September.
Thanks for your videos. Keep'em coming!
It does not have a floor. I use a few outdoor rugs to give me some clean barefoot space while I'm using it.
Hey! I really want this roof tent and annex! Do you know if it's possible to leave the annex attached (just the fabric) and pack it in the roof top?
will not...too much material to be able to close it
Brilliant annex, a good demo for the Ikamper, its next on the list :) keep up the good work
Thank you John, will do
I like the fact that there is no ground matting connected. This will keep the annex mostly clean and a separate grounding can be used. Love the Xcover. I’ve camped in it a few times now 👍👍
@@Scooopdog looking at picking one up...would you recommend?
Kyle hi there. Are you looking at the Xcover or the annex. The cover is highly recommend. , for ease of setup it’s just class. Very easy to do. 👍
@@Scooopdog haha looking into the x-cover. Glad to hear.
Will be setting mines up for the first time thank you for the great video❤️
You’re welcome 😊 18 month Follow-Up review is now LIVE
Do you know if they make them for tall Mercedes sprinter vans? Great job! Thanks
As long as you have standard roof rack mounts. It will fit. Click the full review of the Roof Top Tent review in this video. It will show you how they attach
I have the Mercedes Benz Vito Tourer and the iKamper roof tent. that is the perfect combination.

👍 Thanks for the review. Do you plan on using the iKamper on a hunt? I’m in for that 1.
Would you be able to just leave the annex room attached and just stuff it in the ikamper? well the hard top
bruce illis impossible
Very very cool! Now I want to pack up and go. Thanks for a truly top quality review.
Good tip on how to roll up the rainfly. Most people roll the other way
You got that right!
How long did it take 1st time putting up?
20min...can do it in less than 10 now
iKamper is great. No problems. I don't use the annex very much because of the time to set up and take down. But it is a great annex.
That looks awesome. Truck looks great with those wheels on there as well.😉
Awesome product Andrew an thanks for showing it Sir.
My pleasure, thanks for watching.
Nicely done Andrew 👍. That's a beautiful can't spot too 😍🔥
I think that's a pronghorn... technically. But great video! I think this system is going to move near the top of my list of options.
OK...! THAT explaings the completeness of your review (which was VERY good, BTW).👣
Do you cook in you annex?
Yes all the time
Great review. The annex room looks cool, but with no floor and the fact that it takes as much time to set up as many tents, it's sort of the opposite ethos of the SkyCamp.

Does fit fit the ikamper mini?
Ikamper makes annexes that are model specific to their tents.
Subscribed! Following on patreon.
I like the Black Rhino Warlord wheels
I want one of those so bad. The truck would be nice too.

I hope you took some time to enjoy it after all that work.
sadly I didn't. Packed it all up and headed home to edit LOL
They're delicious!. Lol. Always the first thing I think about when I see an animal as well.
Great video. Where are you camped?
Great stuff :) Andrew do you actually live in a house somewere..? or do you really live in your truck .. :)
Great video!
Do you really eat antelope?
Every year! Some of the best game meat there is
Thanks! You did great review on this product!!!!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for supporting my content.
@@GY6outdoors your welcome!!!
The Autana annex rooms are waye better.. 2 zips and done ..this tent would be fun to put up in windy areas
It’s a nightmare in heavy winds
Thank you very much very informative keep them coming

Nice vid. It is just it takes too long to install the annex room. If you have to move next morning it will be too much trouble. Nice vid though
You are correct
great video! keep it up, man
Thank you Paul!
I never liked the Anex till I saw this one
It's a cool setup
That's cool but I think for the price a big Coleman tent would be a better choice. Way cheaper and probably just as durable. And if you wanted to leave the camp for exploring you wouldn't have to take down everything.

This is awesome thanks man 👍

I would love one of these camping options. BUT, the wife has to use the damn bathroom 4x a night....
In bear country you’ll need a portable electric fence around your campsite. Less than 2.5 lbs for huge peace of mind.
What’s it called?
No floor.... what!?
"Peanuts?" Hahahaha
Nice.
Brendan Schaub enjoying the outdoors 💪

STEAKS are for eating
Noice!
That tent looks taught as you keep stressing the word taught
You're like a better/cooler version of Brendon Schaub.
We have on. It sucks that there is no ground sheet. Also not very resistant to adverse weather. Disappointed. These paid for reviews really suck
You obviously didn’t see my follow up 18month review of the tent and Annex. Also, not paid for.
Daddy 😍😍😍
Brendan Schaub?
