You are right about it . I had already faced this issue this is small part but lot of things happened in my organization which I was working due to this gossips I am personally targetted at my home town even my work place is at Chennai. During release of my project my client didn't provide any billing this case I had faced lot of pressure from all my parent company managers,HRs and threatening me like anything and also personally targetted at my private place itself and also created a scene that I had misbehaving with girl I mention my client company SC Chennai and also I had faced regional discrimination as I am non Tamil. I find this will be more useful for freshers who are joining in organization
