- Hi Friends, This is an exciting time lapse of my Red Tail Golden (RTG) Arowana growing from a 6 inch baby to an adult dragon fish. Please watch till the end, where you'll see the actual shade and shine of the full grown's scales. The arowana was bred and microchipped at Qian Hu, Singapore.

Thank you! She eats my own farm raised Tilapia (sliced), Inch gold arowana pellets, and Black soldier fly larvae. I mix and match it over the week. I feed her once in a day, and skip feeding on Sundays.

Hi, Apologies for the late reply. Hope your arowana started eating by now. It usually happens when the Arowana is stressed (new tank, bullying from other tank mates, water quality issues) etc. You may observe and fix those issues (remove bullying tank mates, do 20% water change daily etc). Check for any abnormalities on its body, discolored fins, frayed tail etc. It could be illness that is stressing the fish in which case plenty of water change and in some cases, medicines would be needed. Arowanas randomly have the habit of fasting too.

I have a small RTG before I had mgbb and was tanning that. Im tanning my RTG to improve the gold. Seeing your RTG I'm doubting of tanning it. I have it in a white tank with white sand. Should I change the background to black or keep it white?

Well I haven't personally tried tanning or WTT, but I've read white background improves shine and darker backgrounds improves richness or depth of the color. Even though my tank doesn't have a white background, it is facing my living and dining room at three sides, with only one narrow side actually facing the wall. Hence the whitish ambience of the entire room which is technically the background in all the three transparent sides, could've attributed to improved shine. We never know :-)
Bro can we use normal tap water for asian arowana?
Hi, as long as tap water doesn't contain chlorine or other harmful chemicals it should be fine. I use well water in all my fish tanks.
Beautiful fish ❤ I would lower the water pressure. Perhaps make it drop from the top? Arowanas are not fans of high pressure.

Hi, Thanks for your query. I feed my Arowanas sliced Tilapia, Black soldier fly larvae (dried and packed) and Inch Gold pellets (if it is in good mood). I alternate between these once per day on all days except Sunday. Sunday I keep them on fasting.

Hi, Asian Arowanas usually stops growing at 2 feet length. Silver etc can easily cross 3 feet length.

Sorry for the late reply.. This message was getting filtered out. It is a long process.. I'll create a video on it soon.. In short, you need to get the arowana acclaimed to the taste of the pellet by feeding it hidden inside prawn pieces. This should go on a while, and then you reduce the feeding frequency so that the Arowana will be more hungry and try feeding pellet. If it fails, repeat the process. It took me a few cycles to get it working.

Hi. I guess you are referring to the Discus fish (the round disc shaped vivid colored ones). There is also a Black ghost Knifefish that you can see in the video. If you could give the exact time in my video I can tell precisely.
Full on stressed aarwana due to high filter pressure
If you think the RTG is stressed observing its zig zag movement, rest assured - it is just to get food. He does that every time I approach the fish-tank. If it is my RTGs speed swimming that makes you think he is stressed, the video is edited in several parts to speed up and slow things down to suit the other clips and the BGM.

May I know why there's a black colour at RTG fin near tail?? Like 1:30, is it normal? I just got small RTG and I just notice it.
Hi Joshua, that's NOT a peculiar feature of RTG and is just specific to some specimen. Mine developed darker stripes as he matured. Generally RTGs' fins and tail would have varying shades of deep red to brown-black. Hope that answers your query. Thanks for the comment.
