- I was due to have a day driving diesel trains the following day, so, as I had the afternoon to myself I thought I'd check out the Derwent Valley line. It was a lovely day for the run down from Matlock to Derby (and back) and there were some lovely views to be had along the way.
The refurbished Class 158 took me up and down the valley with ease, making it a very pleasant experience.

Lovely part of the world, thanks for sharing!
...and thank you for the thanks!
Matlock! I love Peak Districk and Derbyshire!
Thank you for this movie! 😍🚂🚃🚄🚅🚆🚞
You are very welcome! 👍
Another great video Johnny, I like that you always research the history of each Station and Railway Line you visit, well done that Man.
Thank you. Very nice of you to notice and say so. 👍

Excellent video and narration as always, really like these little local lines. Looking to start doing similar trips myself next year (...when I'm finally old enough to qualify for a railcard!).
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, it is no surprise that the major lines get more views on UA-cam, but I do kinda prefer taking rides and making videos about smaller routes. So thank you for enjoying them too!
I was looking forward to this one. Can fully recommend the "cottage" on the disused platform at Cromford, we stayed there twice prior to moving up to this part of the world in 2018. There's a lovely walk along the River Derwent to Cromford itself and the excellent Boat Inn.
Yes, I was miffed I didn't get a good shot of the cottage. I did consider doing one of my "ride out, walk back" vids along the Derwent as you describe but I just didn't have the time that day.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting 👍
I do like East Midlands Railway and Miles the official EMR mascot. And EMR getting extra Class 170 Turbostars.
You won't convince me about Miles 😉
Yeah lol 😂
Enjoyable viewing--Well shot, and I like the red moquette. GWR colours are too trendily subtle. It's interesting. GWR dispatchers have to wear high viz jackets on top of their uniform but --if my memory serves--LNER staff can do without.
Thank you Colin. I always appreciate your kind words. Although me, I'm just a trendy fashionista and go grey/green every time!!! 😁
Actually thinking about it, another complaint of the red moquette is that it shows the grime. A lot of the seats on the Midland Mainline are looking terrible.
