      Have you had a chance to charge the battery with a "regular old school" generator? How well does the gen input handle the dirty power? Thanks!

    Wow, invertors have come a long way over the last 5 years. What's even more amazing is that it wasn't long ago that people were using used laptop batteries in there system. Imagine that.

    I have sat on the bench watching all your's and other's video's for a long time . I've got into trying solar once I seen how far they have come and lower prices. And more plug and play.I've been happy with the xp6000. Wired separate from the grid. I'm running 12000btu midea U-shape ac and a few things 120v. I have generators 5600 and 3500 and have used here on the Gulf coast during storms and outages. Since getting xp6000 and eg4 power pro I can produce just over 20k on good days. and 7k on bad days. I like It better than generator because I can use it everyday. And not just when the power goes out. It has cut my electric bill by more than half. I have seen neighbors getting generators installed $$ but only use them when the power is out. Starting in the beginning of April 2024 so far have produced 975kw to date with 10 Hyperion 400-500 bifacial panels. And that is through all the rain SE Texas has gotten this year.....

      Nice!!! It would be nice to have space for a 3rd for sure, but I don't want to sound greedy haha. Let me know how the install goes.

    This kind of system is my dream system :)
    100,000wh of server rack batteries
    3,000-6,000w inverter to run it all
    P.S. Thank you for the review and teaching us more about this stuff :)

    Looking great! Typically those inductors on the MPPT are actually wound as toroidal transformers for dropping down or stepping up the voltage to get it in line with the main HVDC bus, instead of just a simple inductor for filtering. I couldn't quite see in this video if they were setup like that but it wouldn't be unexpected.

    • @LithiumSolar
      @LithiumSolar  14 днів тому +1

      Interesting - thanks! I need to read up more on how the MPPTs actually work. I have the install 85% finished and had to quit for the day. One is running to power the water heater and it's pretty darn NICE so far! :D :D :D

    I really like this EG4 6000XP. About the only thing that I really wish they would do, is to drop the MPPT minimum voltage to 48v. I can re-punch the holes, but yea, it would be nice if those were USA spec.
    Thanks for the great initial overview/review.

    Thank you for the review and specs. I purchased two of the Vatrer batteries from the link on your yt review. Now I am looking at inverters. Not sure why I can't get my head around the input limits. For example: How many panels could I tie to each mppt with the following label: 240w (37.07 Voc) and (8.51 ISC). I will use an electrician for the wiring but would at least like to know.

    Thanks for the run through of this inverter. Have your ever looked at the AC output on an oscilloscope to see how clean it is? It would be interesting to see the output of this compared to a Solark or Victron or Growatt. I enjoy your videos.

    I've been watching you for a while and enjoy your videos. I am not as advanced as you and have been toying with the idea of building a portable diy server rack battery using the EG4 off grid inverter. It is yellow and black. Just needed to run the fridge when we loose grid power on occasion. This EG4 6000xp seems to offer more bells and whistles than the one I am thinking of buying. Would it be overkill to use the EG4 6000 over the off grid Eg4. Thank you.

      I'm not sure what model you have, but this one is not very portable. It's large and weighs nearly 70lbs. I would not recommend this one for a system intended to be portable (unless you're building it on some kind of heavy duty cart or trailer).

    Can you help us that have older setups that have 2P style solar installs that want to upgrade our inverter. I have had a MPP LV5048 now for almost 4 years now and I want to upgrade the whole thing but almost no inverters today support the lower voltage solar. The lower voltage benefit is huge for shading. What should we do? I'd love to jump to a new inverter but as far as I can tell they can't handle it. Often hitting 75V-80V at 60 amps on one MPPT and 78Vs and 80amps on the other the LV5048 has no issue with this.

    • @adon8672
      @adon8672 15 днів тому

      It's because high voltage/low current is more efficient than what you presently have. It's better you get the new inverters with multiple MPPTs built-in so that you can put shaded and non-shaded panels on different MPPTs. You can also use DC optimisers but they'll add cost and complexity but in return, they'll give higher granularity in individual panel monitoring. You can also use these more modern and more efficient inverters and put some panels through their built-in MPPTs and others through separate stand alone charge controllers but again that'll add higher cost and complexity. The best solution to resolve your challenge is to go full Victron or Schneider gear ($$$$$$$$$).

      No. I do not own any generators. I don't have much use for one as I have solar and batteries as a grid backup. I could look into a acquiring something used and/or cheap though if this is something people are interested in seeing tested.

      @@LithiumSolar Well, I'm people. 😎. I've got a nat gas genset running off the house nat gas line for backup. My first option is my small solar setup. EG4 3000ehv and 100ah WP battery. Also have 4 12v 100ah batteries for additional capacity of/when needed.

    Just curious why out of all the reviews and installs nobody bothers to go into the generator part of this inverter. I plan on using a portable inverter generator in the off grid system i am going to build but not sure what is needed for this system. Any advise

    • @LithiumSolar
      @LithiumSolar  14 днів тому

      I've spent several thousand dollars building out my solar system. I'm not including generators in any of my videos because of that. The solar system makes a generator pointless for me. I have grid power and solar power for backup. I don't really need backup backup power. Now that I've answered your question... there does seem to be some interest in the topic, so I may consider picking up a used one if I can find the right deal for some testing and demonstration.

      @@LithiumSolar unfortunately the area I will be in doesn't have the clearance to place solar panels starting out. Also I am on fixed income so building everything up is going to take a while and so is clearing the space for the solar setup. Hence the generator. I will be starting with the minimum and building out as money and time allow. Any insight you can provide would be appreciated and helpful.

    Why not some Deye inverters? To expensive or not allowed in the US?

    • @LithiumSolar
      @LithiumSolar  15 днів тому

      Your question seems to imply that Deye are better? I didn't look at those, but these have pretty much everything I could want for off-grid. I'm not sure what more a Deye could have to offer that's not included here.

    Watch "6000xp is not UL9540 certified. YOU CANNOT LEGALLY install in the US along with solar panels" on UA-cam to learn why you might want to reconsider buying this inverter.

    • @LithiumSolar
      @LithiumSolar  15 днів тому +8

      This does not have a UL9540 certification. If that is required, then I would not purchase this inverter. It also does not make milkshakes. If you're looking for something that makes milkshakes, I would not purchase this inverter either.

    • @1337woody
      @1337woody 15 днів тому +1

      The inverter is listed by ETL. And it is not UL9540 listed because it is not an ESS. EG4’s batteries that go with the inverter are listed under that standard. The problem is Arizona utilities are absolutely retarded. They want to meter everything and have ridiculous requirements. So it’s an Arizona problem, not an equipment problem.

    • @terrahillfarm
      @terrahillfarm 15 днів тому +4

      Relax Karen…it’s labeled an off-grid inverter. Perfectly legal in Texas. 👍

    • @brucey5585

    • @Madsci-zy8wm
      @Madsci-zy8wm 15 днів тому

      @@1337woody It's not solely an Arizona problem, it's a National problem as mandated by the NEC (National Electrical Code). And I hate to burst your bubble, but Arizona isn't the only state that enforces NEC code. So yes, it's an equipment problem.
