🤔…..our present day “RDA” was hastily developed by 3 doctors in the early 1940’s for the U.S. military (during WW2). It is my understanding that it has never been reviewed nor revised. That is 80 years ago. I have tried to research this history of the development of our “RDA” in more detail, but I have found information difficult to find - so please correct me if I’m wrong. Our nutritional knowledge has certainly improved over the past 80 years, and it seems to me that there ought to be a critical review of the existing “RDA” and, if appropriate (probably is)….should be revised.

It is updated in the United States every five years. The last update was in 2020. The next update will be in 2025.
