  • In this video, I take my brand new 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison to Big Bear to run the Gold Mountain Trail. This rig has no aftermarket modifications - what you see is exactly how it comes from the factory.
We were joined by friends, with each of us bringing our own rigs. My buddy Erick drove his 4-door Jeep Wrangler, and his wife Bev brought her 4-door Bronco. Tish also joined us with her Jeep, and she earned her first Badge of Honor on this challenging trail. We had an amazing time wheeling together, and you won't want to miss a minute of the action as I share my thoughts on this incredible truck while rock crawling.
Gold Mountain Trail is one of Big Bear’s toughest and most exciting trails. It's a really fun trail, but if you're planning to go, always proceed with caution and make sure to go with someone else. This trail is not for the faint of heart, so be prepared for some thrilling moments and a bit of anxiety in some areas. It’s all part of the adventure and adds to the fun!
Additionally, this video includes an important update about this year’s Overlanding for Warrior event. You won’t want to miss this crucial information. Check out the link below to get an idea of what last year's Overlanding for Warriors event was all about and stay tuned for additional details:

Chevy should have hired you to put the Bison through it's paces. Nice trail! Looks like the Bison ate it up! Been seeing nothing but good reviews on it's capabilities.

That's some nice clean black paint on that truck. I bet you got plenty of pin striping!

I was just at our local Toyota dealership this morning buying some OEM parts. They had a new Tacoma Trailhunter on display in the showroom. The ZR2 Bison is a nicer truck. They also had an older, 90's, semi restored Landcruiser on display. Still pretty much stock, a few nicks and dings. Walking around the Trailhunter, just me, I push on the body panels to see how much they flex. Sheet metal seems to be a precious commodity today. That old Landcruiser was stout!!! The Trailhunter bumpers are plastic. 33" tires. I don't think they have true lockers, more electronic traction control. 4 cyl Hybrid.

Awesome video showing the Bison in action! Not only does it perform well but I think its the best looking rig of the bunch.

Great to see the bison rock crawling. I’ve only got 1800 miles on mine and haven’t done any rock crawling yet but have done some mudding.

Pretty great video. Well done on Gold Mountain with the ZR2! Impressive. I’ve done the same trail and I was surprised how well your truck did! It’s going to make an awesome overland rig!

I recently upgraded my 04 Tundra this past winter to run 33"s. For me, to go up to 35"s, without lockers. Probably looking at over $15K, just in parts. Long travel lower control arms, all new shocks/bumpstops, new, custom rear leafsprings, regearing, bigger brakes, new wheels/tires. The next step up. If I do it, I want to do it right.

I cannot wait to get one of these ZR2 bisons. I love my Jeep too (wish I had Ursa Minor top like you). But I need a truck 😁 for my overland gear.

Suggestion: I've noticed a change of sorts in the 'evolution' of 395 junky. For whatever reason growth isn't always great. I see that in the changes of recent and before. Pay a visit back to that series where what you did attracted people. Good luck. Maybe see you on the 395 trail for Fall Color changes are ready to occur
