My family owned one of these when I was younger, same exact generation/color. Man that thing was fun as shit for what it was. Once I’m older and have more money I might try to build one for offroading just to relive old memories hahaha. Currently have a lifted 05 Subaru forester, so it would be in character to build another offroad AWD SUV 🤣
That was awesome Dustin! I hope you take it out more often. You need some Yokohama Geolanders and a trans cooler before the next outing.😆When you talked about looking out for EVERYTHING your not kidding. Last weekend I took my stock Sidekick out to wheel around Anderson Dry Lake, I've been out there the last four years in a row with my ZJ only lifted 2" and didn't have to worry much about ground clearance but with the Sidekick ...damn! There is just something fun about takin your mini wheeler out and see what it can do.
I never got to wheel my First Gen Tacoma S.A.Swap before the swap, and from watching the Green Taco 🌮 I'm glad I didn't! I wouldn't of had a good time! That's why I suggest doing the S.A.Swap before wasting money on crap IFS parts! My Tacoma is pretty darn good offroad! Definitely better than IFS! I may not have the tons installed yet, yet! But even with my hybrid front axle, she's locked and ready to Rock!
I've always thought you kept the Tacoma independent for your daily driver driving? It's me, I'd rather shoot myself in the foot then drive something lame (Nothing against the CRV Great vehicle) But that's me, I just can't drive anything regular! One day I'll aquire a First Gen Tundra, and eventually S.A.Swap it! And I can't tell you how many times I've had friends say "Just get a cheap beater for a daily" NOPE! I Either drive something I actually want to drive or nothing! I don't have children and at almost 50, that shit ain't going to happen! So being responsible for no one but Me, Michele and my 7lb Dog, I'm really not forced to do anything I don't want to do. I do understand "You gotta do what you have to do!" And it's always good to have a backup vehicle if you can afford the Insurance? I can't. But I'd have to do something to the CRV, there was a lifted CRV around here a few years back. It was really nice! It's on my old UA-cam channel, they make really cool trail rigs.
No way i knew i recognized the crv i was the white 4th gen tacoma that tagged along with you guys for a bit.

How do you know the trail is closed without driving an hour or so to it? Is there a website to visit?
Aside from some sections, would you think a fwd CRV make it with better tires/psi?
i already hit the desert but this seems pretty sick 😁
Yeah it could definitely run the fire trail
