Yup. That's true. I bought my Tacoma around new years. It came with 33" tires and a lift. So it's definitely capable to hit some spots. But I don't know anyone. I've been to Lytle creek and got stuck in the rutted section section due to lack of suspension travel. Tires didn't touch the ground. Luckily someone came up and showed me the right line for my trucks capability. I'd love to learn together with others. Add to that the fact that I'm not from California. I don't know anyone here lol.
For myself located in Orange County. -Santiago peak -Lytle Creek - main trail -Big Bear - Holcomb Valley, Skyline Divide -Joshua Tree - Berdoo Canyon Fire road type trails but fun for beginners
Great list brotha. Here are 4 additional ones. 1. Rowher Flats (clockwise starting from staging area 1) 2. Santiago Peak 3. West Camino Cielo 4. Old Dale Rd
Good video D. One of my favorite beginner trails is berdoo canyon to geology trail in joshua tree. But hell any dirtroad away from the city is better than nothing. Just get out and explore
That intro song sounds so 80s, I wish I could edit, you're the freaking Edit Master! I just missed the boat with this whole computer thing, last computer I was good at using was my Commodore 64.😂 I'm 49 , and my age group either knows computers 🖥 or has no idea? I've said to people around our age to look me up on Instagram and got "What's that?" Or "I don't do that shyt" That's a good idea for a how to edit videos, I probably still wouldn't get it, Cars, Trucks and Motorcycles I know, but technology, I'm lost? I've never even sent a email, that's what my fiance and little brother is for 😅
I've always liked Berdoo Canyon into Joshua Tree for beginners, you end up in the park. It would be great if you mentioned a video that covered the core basics on all these back to the basics videos so people watching know there's some basic info they need to see before they hit the trail.
So I just purchased a stock GX460 2023. I'm a newbie and plan to start the build on this truck. Two questions - can this vehicle (stock) handle these trials? What is the best way to meet people/groups (that won't laugh when I pull up in a stock 460)? Are there specific "newbie rides" or way to learn from others? Thanks. Great video. Thanks for making it.
My hubby and I have a set of gx470’s. hell effin yes these beasts can crawl all day every day. It’s fine if you’re a beginner.. this truck is smarter than us anyway 😂 Pulling up with your stock 23 gx is nothing but a sick flex, have fun and welcome to the GX family.
I wouldn't consider myself seasoned or n expert, but ocotillo wells is a blast unless its windy...Azusa canyon is always a blast also.looking forward to it reopening.
We will be in southern California and would like to do some easy trails, thanks for the list! While its advisable to wheel with another vehicle we almost never do because we don't know anyone in the areas we visit. is there any resources in southern California to help with this?
I can see how people make fun of not watching to scratch a new vehicle, but dammit I am one! I bought my super duty tremor because I tow a travel trailer (and it looks awesome). I have ZERO offroad experience (former road racer) but want to see what the truck can do. I don’t care about dirt/mud but draw the line at paint damage. Any USEFUL suggestions ?
$70k ha! Wish it had been that cheap. I bought it because the tremor package rides much better than the regular ones. And I did clear bra the front and ceramic coat the rest. I would like to dip my toe into offroading ( I ride gravel and mtb bikes all over the fire roads). If I really dig it I would pick up something used and ugly that I could beat up!
Actually, finding a simple trail and just running it solo for the first time. Baby steps. Learning the pros and cons. Not having to worry about getting your paint scratched. If its for you.
If you find a gate. Not posted. As long as you stay on the trail. Leave the gate as you have found it. If its open, open. If its closed, close it behind you.
I have a great question to ask everyone, Have you ever had anyone absolutely hate offroad, or be a total dick cause they're afraid to scratch their brand new Tacoma? I have, my friend was losing his mind on a green or light blue trail, WTF? Don't build it, if you ain't gonna bring it 💯 % Who else hates a freaking poser? I know I can't stand them, how about you, and I guess "Overlanders" don't count, but actually, yes they do! 😅
@rkd350z The whole day that I'm talking about, my friend was practically crying over easy trails , my other friends would get in his truck and they were telling me "Yo, he keeps saying" "I can't believe he's going this way" I think some people should probably buy a freaking Prius instead of a Tacoma lol
I did 2n17x (the shortcut trail at Pilot Rock) with a big group where I didn't know most of them. This one guy shows up with a brand new TRD Pro 4Runner complaining about how all the tree pollen has been damaging his paint before we even got to the trailhead. Needless to say, he turned back after about 2 hills. 😂
Honestly the hardest part is finding people to go with if you don't have a built in community of friends doing it already.

There’s groups out there that host run/meets it’s a great way to meet new people 🙏🏻

-Santiago peak
-Lytle Creek - main trail
-Big Bear - Holcomb Valley, Skyline Divide
-Joshua Tree - Berdoo Canyon
Fire road type trails but fun for beginners
Awesome! I still haven’t been to Santiago Peak 🤔
@@66Duffman super easy trail but great view at the top.
@@Michael_Tranis the trail tight with overgrown brush?
As someone who is just starting out, this is exactly the type of content I was looking for. So THANK YOU!! Great video.
Great list brotha. Here are 4 additional ones.
1. Rowher Flats (clockwise starting from staging area 1)

4. Old Dale Rd
Awesome! Gonna add a couple if those to my list 🙏🏻

Excellent video and advice
Thank you brotha 🙏🏻
Nice video.
Thanks! 🙏🏻
Pilot rock is fun and easy !
Idk about easy 😂 but definitely fun
Farther north, Ventura area... Southern Los Padres forest. The Miller Jeep trail.

would like to see a “best beginner off-road vehicle” video
Absolutely 💯
"Johnson Valley " ..........home to the KOH has a bit to offer.
You bet! JV is a great area🙏🏻

Avoid the mountains you’ll want to hit desert trails…mountain means bushes and pinstripes
Voiding your factory warranty.. Why I'm glad my truck is 20 years old now.
Get a wrap.
When you roll a brand new $70K truck off of the showroom floor.. A serious choice has to be made.

I really like Clegghorn. Easy enough for total beginners and challenging enough for the experienced off-roader at the same time.
100% agreed!
Is there a way around the obstacles you mentioned at Cleghorn?
Yes they are all skippable 🙏🏻
Perfect! Thank you!
3N69 good beginner trail
dope gotta hit the trails with your squad one day
So if its on private land are we allowed to drive through it?
Depends on the trail but for a lot of them it’s on as long as you aren’t breaking any barriers or disrespecting the area
If you find a gate. Not posted. As long as you stay on the trail. Leave the gate as you have found it. If its open, open. If its closed, close it behind you.
Parking stops at Albertson's.
