Omg I saw these two in wicked in 2014! It was so amazing. I’m pretty sure Lucy was much better when I saw her but she is so good here. As an Aussie, I can just say that it’s really hard to do an American accent especially for a whole musical
in the australian cast of wizard of oz, lucy durack does glinda (which i looooooooooooved) and jemma rix does the wicked witch ( which was just as good)
Yes, she screams a lot. I feel her characters fits Glinda. Well. There are many different versions of Elpabas and Glindas. And people have different preferences. Megan Hilty is also pretty good. And besides Jemma Rix, I think Willemijn Verkaik is a good Elphaba as well.
Yes oke! Chantal Janzen is amazing !! But Sunday was sadly her last time :( But now she goes to a different musical "Hij geloofd in mij". She also played in Petticoat a dutch musical :) She is my role model! :)
As much as I love Lucy, I feel like she isn't self obsessed and overly dramatic enough to be what has become expected of and so inherently a part of Glinda character. She needs to be more arrogant, ignorant and have the umph that Kristen had in her Glinda imho.
Pretty sure a requirement of the script is an American accent. The British production had to get special permission to perform without the American accent
see I have to agree. Yes some actresses are better or worse than others but these people are all incredibly talented, or else they would not be getting paid the big bucks to perform such big roles in a musical like this that cost millions of dollars to produce. I know for instance that I do not have a prayer at landing a role like these
@obsessivewickedfan darl, if ur obsessed, u should no that amanda harrison busted a blood clot in her voice, so she couldn't hit the high F in Defying Gravity. Then they replaced her with Jemma. Ur not obsessed if you dont have the basic knowledge
Lucy is pretty good as Galinda, but there's something strange about her singing voice, although it is still good. Her speaking voice is perfect, though.
Pretty dire it has to be said. The actress playing Glinda seems to have a fixed expression for a lot of the beginning of the song and isn't feeling the words at all.
I don't really like this Galinda because she's too gentle. For me, she has to have her strength in what she knows best: popularity *duh*; not only that she has strength as a woman in general. Just my opinion.
jemma rix is freekin amazing and so beautiful!!!

i love lucy so much (ive met her irl and she is THE sweetest)
Thank you. There are nuances up close, you don't get from the cheap seats 💗
This number just doesn't work on television... still: great performance
Totally agree with you on that one! :D I saw her and Chantal Janzen in Wicked last Sunday :D
Can't wait till Legally Blonde the Musical opens here in Aus, with Lucy as Elle Woods!
i love this song
I love Lucy Durack as Glinda
omg i saw this with this cast it was amazing and hilarious
I meet th actress that plays Glinda when i saw it. Shes so lovely :)
She is! She is THE nicest person I have ever met (I've met her a few times and I adore her)
Lucy is great

@jazzykid1 I agree... I think she's the classically trained soprano who's more used to singing in head tone
love it !!!
i kove the show
Yes oke! Chantal Janzen is amazing !! But Sunday was sadly her last time :( But now she goes to a different musical "Hij geloofd in mij".

She is my role model! :)
Lucy is incredibly cute ! She is a magnificient Glinda.
Elphaba from The Netherlands is also good! :D Her name is Willemijn Verkaik!
I LOVE JEMMA RIX
Aww they should've kept their Aussie accents! Did they have to do the American accents during the shows too?
nooo that’s my pet peeve
@@billievanderpol what, Australian accents?
shes so pretty
As much as I love Lucy, I feel like she isn't self obsessed and overly dramatic enough to be what has become expected of and so inherently a part of Glinda character. She needs to be more arrogant, ignorant and have the umph that Kristen had in her Glinda imho.
Lucy is just too nice!
I've never seen an Australian show where they haven't done an American accent (aside from Oliver Twist, or Les Mis.)
@GreatBroadwayFan the netherlands i believe
@Heidikuhn i think shes most like how id imagine galinda to be! shes a good one :D
Wow its in Australia now??? What next?!?!
J e m m a R I x. Is amazing and beautiful and Lucy is amazing them both together are amazing, a close second is Indina and Kirsten
Pretty sure a requirement of the script is an American accent. The British production had to get special permission to perform without the American accent
@nattyISchatty jemma was original standby though
Compare this with the original Broadway version and it comes off rather tame.
@NicPengy no shes not... did u hit your head?
lucy’s way too sweet
see I have to agree. It also takes someone very special to sing a song like Popular with an aussie accent. It comes out very flat.
She looks like the original Elphaba (Idina Menzel) Glinda was off beat many times andd didn't have enough energy.
I noticed that too
Can I ask what accent is Lucy supposed to have? Its like shes slipping between English and American.
Stephanie shaw she’s an Australian doing an American accent
Oh my gosh....is it just me or does Jemma Rix look like Julie Andrews??
Eh, they need to work on their american accents a bit. At 0:51 Lucy said your like yur.
I saw these guys a month ago and believe me when I say they have much better accents now than they did 4 years ago.
I saw Wicked yesterday in Brisbane and thought are they Americans?
You noticed too?! I was like is it me or are they imitating American accent?
+Richard Lin (Sharuru) are you American?
epicmaddie t
Kristin Chenoweth
@obsessivewickedfan darl, if ur obsessed, u should no that amanda harrison busted a blood clot in her voice, so she couldn't hit the high F in Defying Gravity. Then they replaced her with Jemma. Ur not obsessed if you dont have the basic knowledge
Her last name is Rix? My last name is Rix and I've never heard of ANYONE with that name outside of my family... Ever.
Lucy is pretty good as Galinda, but there's something strange about her singing voice, although it is still good. Her speaking voice is perfect, though.
She doesn’t open her mouth enough
@SaranghaeSuJuDBSK your joking right?
Suzie sounds more natural in being perkier. She didn't need to make her speaking voice so much teeny and high-pitched to get that effect.
@tvbmadness thanks :D not particularly knowledgeable about the australian production!
queue super gay stare @ 3:12
Pretty dire it has to be said. The actress playing Glinda seems to have a fixed expression for a lot of the beginning of the song and isn't feeling the words at all.
@tvbmadness no, the best elphaba ever
no jemma was not the original stand by. she came in after the original quit
ouch
I prefer Suzie Mathers as Galinda ! xD
Suzie Mathers is the best.
Megan Hilty
This is good, but not as good as the American version with Kristin Idina
I don't really like this Galinda because she's too gentle. For me, she has to have her strength in what she knows best: popularity *duh*; not only that she has strength as a woman in general. Just my opinion.
Silly to make them, do American accents why couldn't they just be themselves?
because the original characters have american accents
I don't believe her.
groundlessness :(
The girl who is playing Glenda's voice gave me a headache. Ugh
IKR
I like Suzie Mathers better then Lucy Durack!
Emily Talento me to
Suzie is better...
