Hiiiiiiii!!! I personally love watercolors but definitely understand your struggles so i thought I'd give you a few tips!!
1) Always use waterproof pens for your fineliners; non-waterproof ones will bleed and make your colors muddy
2) Always use paper designed for watercolors; will help with less streakiness, better colors, and your paper won't rip
3) Don't be afraid to use more water! Your colors seemed pretty dry when you were painting them
4) Try out wet surface painting for gradients!! Paint water on the paper and then paint on top of that; the colors will react very differently and it's super fun!
5) Don't use white to lighten your paints; it will make them muddy! Instead, just add more water to dilute your paint

Ayo that’s actually really nice! The shading is really well done and I actually love the textured background it just gives it that beautiful traditional art feel! 👌
Also don’t give up on watercolour! I know if you practise well enough you’ll be able to create some wonderful paintings! I had a very Similar experience like you and now watercolour is pretty much the only medium I use lol.

I just made bsd wan Chuuya he might need some color but it looks so cute because it’s Chuuya but also it was from the elevator episode. Also I have two Chuuya drawings now I need more because Chuuya is superior!

i wouldn't recommend using the white paint unless you know what your doing, especially to lighten colour when mixing since more water does the same but a lot cleaner
also think part the reason why colours look muddy is that your not using enough water.
anyways your arts really cute, i want to pet chuuya so bad (maybe that why dazai calls him his dog)

Watercolour paints are often used for under toning it base coats, not for details. I would use a mix of medians by using watercolour to lay the solid colours and shadows down, and then go in with coloured pencils or other fine medians.
Or just don’t listen to me, I am just blabbing with basically no art talent :,)
