  • Do I like the Dexcom G6? How did it feel to wear it for 10 days? Pros? Cons? Does anyone else feel like type 1 diabetes is a secret and invisible disease? Hear my thoughts on all of these topics in this video update.

    Thank-you for your truthful encouragement. I'm an old Type 2 diabetic who really works at keeping my disease under control. Finally insurance has approved my G6 , I'm learning to use the device. Thanks, Mike

    Good to see you are back! Welcome... I was a little worried after one of your last videos.... I guess we all go down sometimes. Thanks for sharing your vulnerability and how days are different

    Wow. Really enjoyed your comments. I have that same feelings of this DISORDER being private and something to be ashamed of. I think for me it came from people for the past 18yrs always feeling like they can comment bc your sugars are high or low. So then it became something to not share out of disinterest in other’s opinions. I have omnipod just as of last dec and they are working with this dexcom cgm in 2019. Last year’s dexcom was terrifying for me. I love Omnipod wireless and simple. But your video really did help with my consideration of getting this along with their new dash. Thanks.

    I will like to know what your doctor says when your numbers are normal? Mine doesn’t like it and thinks I am going to pass out.

    I loved this video! I’m in the process of getting the G6 (I currently have the libre). Do the alarms annoy the heck out of you?

      The alarms are a mixed bag... they can be annoying, but one thing I did was set my alarm limits to where it wouldn't alarm too frequently. Also, when I'm using the Dexcom app on my phone to watch my numbers, the alarms only vibrate as long as I'm on silent.

    Yup, I bled like a stuffed pig hitting a vessel as well, it probably dosen't hel that I am on blood thinning shots 2x a day for my Autoimmune clotting disorder related to my Lupus.. I didnt have pain so to say, but the dexcom sensor itched really bad for the 1st 3 days.. I think the click from the huge automatic insertion device made, made me cringe worse than the actual insertion.. i hate auto injectors.. my migraine med shot comes that way and my epi-pens.. I am used to old school methods

    How do you share your results with others? I failed this step. Do they have to have an app as well?

    What A1C-s are you getting at the moment? My one was 7.00 mmol a couple of days ago and I’m very happy about it but I don’t think I’m ready yet to get pregnant. Also, I get bad results if I have a larger meal in the evening, does a one off bad figure affect the pregnancy or is it more important what your A1C is?

      When you do have large meals it's a good idea to add 1extra unit..this works great for us...big meals are a heavy load on our system and my Dr. recommend 1 extra unit....

    Just curious, how far can you walk away from the reciever before the transmitters signal didn't reach anymore? And does it take a long time for it to reconnect when you are near it again?

    • @type1mama814
      @type1mama814  6 років тому +1

      20 feet. The time it takes to reconnect depends. Sometimes it comes right back, sometimes it takes a few minutes. When my phone loses signal I have a routine (turn bluetooth off then back on, close the app, then open the app again) and that usually gets it to come back pretty fast.

    It would bug the living crap out of me if someone was watching and tracking my numbers.

    Off topic but do you still eat the same way you did while pregnant? I've realized that after having my son I decided to pig out on all of the foods I couldn't really have while pregnant. I've unfortunately ended up gaining weight because of it! Totally sucks but I'm trying to go back to how I ate while pregnant because I had the best control and actually lost weight before becoming pregnant on the strict diet I was on to lower my A1C. Anyways, loved your review!

      You took the words right out of my mouth. I can totally relate to this. I can say that it's always my goal to eat the way I did when I was pregnant, but no. It's been a slippery slope. I stayed good for the first few months but then gradually went way out of control with my food. I think it was a reaction to being so strict during pregnancy. I'm trying to tighten my control again though... it's a work in progress. May make a good video topic... thanks for sharing!
