John doesn’t even have to play to make a very interesting video. He’s a deep thinker and gets down to the nitty gritty about music, Guitars and writing songs. I've been trying to write songs since the beginning got he year. After so much work out into it I've managed to come up with a whole song that makes sense in my own language (Brazilian Portuguese). I just couldn't agree more and relate to each and every word he has just said. Waiting for magic to happen.
He has little stress, or rather doesn't let it get to him if he has it, and knows the world can be manipulated and bent. This keeps you young for real. Meditation works too, but he is just lucky he figured out a secret to life early and had the drive and ego to use it 😂
I feel like John has a genuine approach to music a DJ songwriting that a lot of other artists don’t know how to express or even bother to do so. He has a very refreshing appeal. I think that’s why I’m binge watching his interviews
Everything he said is exactly right. I frequently write lyrics then write melodies then notice a pair of melody and lyrics that go together. I had a song written for months and I heart a chord progression and instantly knew it matched the lyrics of that one song I'd written. I'd say, don't throw out everything you've written. You don't need a finished product right away; keep it and maybe come back to it later. If it was good enough you won't forget it and the right melody will make you remember the right lyrics
In my experience a good lyric is never gonna come out if you don't have a general concept first, What does the music tell you?What do you want to say? What landscape does it show you?. Maybe it's a misty mountain or a dark room, maybe it's a memory from your childhood or something you did 20 minutes ago, try to ask yourself those questions and let imagination fly

At 23/24 if my private life was interesting to anyone there would've been some silly quotes and behaviour too.
