Me too! one of my favorite artists of all time. He's helped me so much through his songs. btw do u have his mixtape Last Train to London? I lost it when my old laptop broke and can't find it anywhere
I remember really liking that "Sonic the Hamilton" mixtape. All my friends used to clown him in high school but, I rocked with him. Brodie got Lacey Duvalle in his first music video, and he could actually spit. That was a W as far as I was concerned (as a teen). lol
I found Charles in high school and I never had found an artist that I connected to so much . Bro’s music literally was life changing. He’s a legend he’s a genius I hope he gets the help he needs and makes the music he loves. All love Charles
This is actually a very good mini documentary. Charles was definitely ahead of his time. He should have been a lot bigger but he definitely did get in his own way. I remember his song all alone and how his label was bragging about it. If you listen to it now, it’s crazy because he was bringing back some 80s aesthetic that everybody is on right now. Sometimes people just don’t understand when you’re so ahead of your time.
The first time I ever heard Charles Hamilton was back in 2008 on Carson Daly's show performing Brooklyn girl live on stage. After that I started searching for more of his music and found that he is very talented and I became a fan. I'm still a fan to this day and hopes and prayers go out to him getting better. I have a brother who's going through the same thing he is. So I got a sense of what he's going through. He's definitely a musical genius who needs to believe in himself a little more
Great video it's about time we give Charles Hamilton his flowers. Alongside Kid Cudi and Drake he was one of the few pioneers who helped birth a new generation of artists like Odd Future, Childish Gambino, Earl Sweatshirt, XXXTENTACION, Chance the Rapper. He's a Top10 talent (at one point wasn't far from Lupe) one of the best to ever put words together and call it a rap. A visionary & a trendsetter.. wishing for redemption some way some how.
I remember back in 2009 going on Wikipedia and seeing it say that Charles Hamilton was signed to Kanye's G.O.O.D Music label.. it turned out to not be true but that would've been the dream. He was actually mentored by Pharrell during his time at Interscope it would've be dope to see those 2 work together more.
Earl sweatshirt don’t fw drake or cudi I’m not even sure he was listening to Charles Hamilton when he was coming up lol he sites his inspirations pretty often too
@@JaydenW. revisit "Molliwopped" by Earl, somethin about that song gives off strong CH energy for me. Sorry for that stretch of a comment earlier. I don't know where Earl pulls influences from sonically.

Charles Hamilton was really different, a creative genius & lyrical madman. I only wish he continued to grow in rap/music production. I was a fan then, & I still listen to his old stuff now. Appreciate you forever Charles. The Pink Lavalamp taught me a lot.
Bruh was cold man. He comes from a special era of emerging artists. He had the potential to be on the same levels as Kendrick, Cole, Sean, Tyler & others from his generation. I hate he went through all this.
Charles Hamilton, your music saved my life at times when I felt like giving up... You was my favorite rapper as a teen... And damn you got a native proud when you came back with ny raining and it dropped on hiphopearly... Currently going thru a storm... Came back to your music to help me get mind right and seen this video.. just wanted to say much respect and love, if you ever get to read this... Thanks big bro
I feel this. Charles music DEFINITELY got me through some shit. It’s always the artist going through shit who Make the most relatable and passionate music. And whenever I go through anything I always refer to my fav Charles tracks. Those shits really hit home.
Yo I admire CH So much and I can’t stand the fact of him being forgotten cause he really is a legend. I pray for him always, he’s such an inspiration to this very day! Thank you for this! 🙏🏾💎
I think he always had problems but his breakdown really started when he got dropped. I see how getting THAT close to being who you always wanted to be and then losing the opportunity could drive someone over the edge
In his prime CH dropped some fire mixtapes, there was at least 6 or 7 of them that I still love. Regardless of all the wild stuff he pulled I still look back at that like a special moment in time that you had to be apart of to appreciate & CH is always gonna be in my top 10 of all time list. Hope he is mentally doing well. Great video btw
If his demons hadn’t had gotten to him he’d be on Cudi’s level of influence but unfortunately even just back in 08-12 mental health wasn’t taken as seriously. If he came up today things would have been different t
Say bruh.. you keep this quality in your videos, stay persistent, and hold onto the passion… you’re gonna change your families lives. I was expecting you to have at least like 250k. Respect
This is also an amazing video btw. It's crazy how mental health is pushed so much w artists like cudi, big sean and wale, but when it comes to Charles, he was ridiculed by the public eye.
Thank you for this documentary. Charles Hamilton is the best lyricist and musician when it comes to hip hop as we’ve known since the 2010’s. At least in my opinion, dude was really the firet “emo-rapper” and his plight created a formula which a lot of musicians, producers and even labels, studied and thrive off still to this day. Dude really the father of the underground in my opinion. Even when he was signed, he kept shit underground because he understood that music is the sole spirituality of the universe and manifestation
Charles Hamilton is the tragic artist Kanye pretends to be. No shade to Yeezy but he played up the mental illness angle for album and merch promo. While Hamilton was truly suffering life long issues with it.
Charles is by far one of the greatest rappers ever. Lyrically nasty, and his production is unmatched. It's sad we never got to see his full potential. Charles, I know you read comments. Fam, God loves you. From your fans to your fam....God bless.
Y’all didn’t mention that his mother died during all of this as well. It’s not JUST the drugs he’s gon thru a lot in the short amount of time that we the public have known him.

I’ll have to watch this later..Charles is forever one of my favorite artists of all time, I was in college as dude was coming up and going through everything, and just like a lot of people his music overall just resonated with me so well. It sucked watching him struggle and stumble over himself, dude by all means deserved to be where some of the others in his class are now, and hell, if he’d been able to get his start now he’d have stood out so much more in a positive fashion. He’s legendary in my eyes, but it sucks continuing to wonder what if for him as well. Pleasant overthinking is one of my all time favorite songs and one of the first I’ll put on when I’m going through it. “When this life becomes more than a light thought, just stand in the room with the lights off, and whisper to yourself, I’m dealing with it all…”

Why don’t you hit up the person that he does music with all these people they just bloggers they sit there and just try to get him to act up they don’t know this dude I know this dude personally
Something that I always loved was the K Dot getting to rap in a cypher with CH over the Milkbone instrumental (aka the Big L/Jay Z freestyle beat) before he transitioned into being Kendrick Lamar. That one clip always blows my mind.
He's a genius, he's a mad scientist, in every sense of the term. Part of me wants to hang out with him and at the same time, part of me wants to run. His music is amazing, I just wish he could find peace before it's really too late and he's gone forever- that's my biggest fear.

I hope he finds his way soon but I hope that for everyone cause I’ve never heard of him to be honest, so I can’t say I’m a fan cause I don’t know him.
