"There is speculation that the family may have met with financial difficulties resulting in an attempt to sell the painting to the Trustees of the Frick Collection in 1922 but the offer was rejected by Helen Clay Frick" ah!
Interesting subject but the speaker's lack of fluidity made listening to the lecture a rather torturous affair. It's rather a shame that Richard Ormond chose to deliver this talk. He is exceedingly well informed on the subject but the delivery has to flow, and in this regard he failed miserably.
It was a pleasure to watch
Thank you for this lecture on what I consider one of the most beautiful portraits ever made. And thank you for showing everything up close!
A very inspiring conference. Thank you!
This was great. I found out the a recent Christmas present of John Singer Sargents watercolors was on the screen at the end.
Thank you to schowing the whole history of art of Sergent I saw and l liked the best about the lady in the white dress in chair(may bee his dauhter).
My lady Agnew is the most beautiful… sublime.
