Thank you, Peter! In addition to this video on imperial and non-provincial Ming ceramics, which as you point out are a tiny fraction of the whole and priced far beyond most of our budgets, I for one would love to hear your thoughts on provincial Ming wares! They're far more common, much more affordable, and thanks to the Ming's robust trade with SE Asian neighbors, very available today on eBay from sellers in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Fakes still abound, but there's not quite the incentive (yet) to fake Minyao wares, so it's a bit of an easier area to navigate.
Of course the quality is always lower, the artistry rushed and the materials less refined, but provincial Ming has its own charm. Mostly daily-use pieces, they can really show their age. They make great study pieces. And unlike exports to the Middle East and Europe, exports to SE Asia used mostly the same styles and designs as the domestic market, so a rare opportunity for us outside China to acquire pieces with those styles (dragons, qilins, Buddhist/Taoist imagery).
Sorry, just my little rant in support of Ming provincials!! Thanks again; I've been loving this series.

Sir. I have a piece that I would love to send you pictures of. I had no idea what is was until I got bored one day and started researching the markings. I'm positive it is a copy but was hoping you could tell what on this piece makes it a copy. I have been on Christies and Sothebys website and the color of blue on many or their pieces looks like the blue I have which is a dark blue. I just find this very interesting and seems like a good fun hobby to get into
