(Note from Ulisses Cora) "Cesária Évora sung in the beautiful Creole accent of her hometown, Mindelo. I decided to transcribe her verse using a phonetic-based writing for most of the words, as they appear in two of the Creole-English dictionaries I found online, in order to make it easier for people to look them up if they want to check the meanings by themselves. That being said, since most of the dictionaries available are based on the Creole accent spoken in Santiago, some slight alterations were made in some of the words to bring them as close as possible to the way Cesária pronounces them in the song."

Hi Christy, thank you so much for this translation. Great work! Would you please enlighten me what you mean with “paralyze and lizard” as song facts. How did you find it out and what do these mean? I’m looking forward to hearing from you. Have a nice day!
@@ahsen2491 Hi! You're welcome. Thank you! "Song facts" here means that some of the other online song translations I saw, at the time that I was working on this lyric video, wasn't said to be correct by the native that was helping to assist me at that time. What is actually being said and it's meaning are translated in this video. I found this understanding through a native Malian (Korotomi). She is one of the people who worked along with me to help make this lyric video possible. Salif uses those two "song facts" in the song. And it's also just a way to show that I took the time to research my translation effort... but it's most definitely not set in stone.
Hope this helps! 🙂
@@Christy81I got it completely different haha, now I understand. Thank you for your reply! One more question, how can I support your work?
@@ahsen2491 Thank you for asking how you can support my work. ❤️ No one has ever asked me that...
With that being said, I am no longer taking time out to do these lyric videos. There are some videos on my channel that I might... key word: MIGHT... go back and update at a later time due to mistakes... but... 🤷🏾♀️🙂
And, honestly, because the songs don't actually belong to me I really can't, and don't want to continue to, dive into transcribing and translating them like that. It would be SO MUCH better to work with the actual artist of the song(s)... that way everything is clear... but... 🤷🏾♀️
Anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH for thinking of me in this way. 🥰 Be blessed! 🕊️😘
These two are the best pairing for a song like this...true art. Still gives me goosebumps
Beautiful song....the kind of song for a very special moment with the person that you love.

Salut merci pour la traduction, je pense qu'il dit plutot "s'il ne ta pas dit... Moi meme je te le dirais" au lieu de "viens, je vais te dire... Moi meme "
