I use to work for a snow plows dealer in New Jersey and the plow lights had to be interlocked with the truck low beam circuit when used for highway use as per the NJ DOT. Watching this brings back all the complaints from users. These trucks, mostly from landscapers live a hard life. The wiring issues were number one on every repair list. Include the fact that hanging all that weight out past the front bumper destroying the front suspension is an added plus.😊
“What a gem” he says. 😂👍 No idea why this oldie but goodie came up in my feed, but I’m glad it did because I guess (based on my other comments) that I’ve been Watching Wes Work for three years. Where does the time go when you’re exposed to such brilliant work and humor? Wes, you still da Man! 🙏👍
Honestly I think for a temporary fix the wire nuts would have been just fine, so long as the two sides were zip-tied such that there was no stress on the splices, then cover with tape or a plastic bag. I used to design wiring harnesses for heavy duty trucks and construction equipment, so I understand the amount of work involved in doing wiring the correct way. It's amazing how many hours/days one can spend on doing wiring properly. 99% of people don't even understand how complicated and time-consuming it can be. Good job Wes! You are truly a blessing to your entire community.
Must be a state sponsored program to test the honesty and ethics of repair shops around the area. They bring uniquely "broken" vehicles to see how honest the mechanic shops are. :)
Feel your pain. Had a friend with an old Western V- plow. 1st snow event was always panicsville. I temporarily get everything going with the understanding he religiously promised to get “The Plug” and make repairs permanent. One year later as the plow pukes in the middle of a snow event. Ring, Ring.
5:02 wow, manual windows but wireless headlight switches, that's pretty trick... 🤣🤣 Happy new year Wes, hope you and the family are healthy, happy and safe.
It's not manual windows, their called MAN-U-WELL done be cheap windows. LOL. Just something that guy up north in B.C. (Canada) who speaks Canuckistanian Creole {AVE} would say.
Had a friend who answered my questions with this statement. "What we're looking at is a "Temporary Solution to a Permanent Problem!" Made me laugh every-time! 🤣🤣
Gem? You mean fossilized turd, don’t you? Thanks Wes. Love both types of your videos, the short form bodge together the clunker and the long form skilled technical diagnosis and repair.
I actually laughed out loud when you pulled the light switch out of the dash and nothing was connected to it!! oh and manual windows, we call them 'keep fit' windows in the UK, happy new year to you and the family.
Happy NY Wes. Anyone who has plowed snow for any length of time knows you HAVE to have a truck with loud exhaust to let your customers know you are so dedicated to them that you are on the job at 3am. I still have my old 8' Western that has actual cables controlling the mechanical valves. Works like a charm every time.
Famous last words " we will never see it again...". Then the title of Wes' next video "it's back, plow truck with bullet connectors returns". You can always hear it in your voice that ideally you would like to do it the correct way the first time. But you realize that is not always feasible when your customer gives you little time and has a dead line. I admire your ability to improvise and do it the best way you can in the time given to do it in.

Got a whole inch in eastern Nebraska. Hopefully that’s all you will get. Came for the video, love the laugh you add when a simple fix solves the problem.
Happy New Year. If you recall I am the retired Air Force wiring team lead that commented on the screw driven into the tractor wire harness under the door kick panel. I watch all of your stuff because you not only care about doing it right but you also seem to care about how it looks. If interested I would like to offer a trick we use on aircraft. On military and commercial air craft sometimes the cavity where the harness lives will not except having the splicing all in one location. What we would do is measure the length of the splice plus the number of wires to get a overall length to start the splicing so no one splice is laying over the top of another one. That way the overall diameter of the repair is no larger than the splice itself. Please keep in mind this only works if you have enough length, space and enough wire. This guy just wants it to work not unlike a military crew that only ask if the weapons fire. Play with the harness provided and see if you can use the process. Good stuff. Thanks for letting me relive some shot all to hell military wiring. Hi from Texas
Gotta love those wi-fi wiring connectors. They're usually the first to cause trouble! Happy New Year Wes and family. Thanks for providing us with great content!
That truck has some other issues lol sounds like chitty chitty bang bang! But at least the plow has its movements and you've got enough lights to get around to use it at night lol Happy New Year and many blessings to you in 2022
Ah yes, the legendary Bluetooth headlight mod. That'll get ya every time... My guess would be it was blowing fuses with some combination of lights/plow movement & the operator helpfully disconnected the switch to keep the plow working long enough to finish up whatever job it was on & then the other shop started to "diagnose", saw the crusty wire and gave it the chop but when the truck's lights still failed to work on installing new fuses they didn't get logical but instead got scared. Either that or they felt their time would be better spent on beer and mince pies lol. Happy New Year to you and yours Wes. Thanks for sharing the trials and tribulations of rust belt life with us, it certainly makes me feel a bit better about our rusty junk in the UK.
Happy new year Wes, I run the same plow on my 95 GMC Yukon affectionately named the RHINO, it's a snow moving beast. Poor old girl definitely could use some love cuz Michigan winters or as I call them season of salt take a toll, she's a rust bucket but just keeps pushing snow. I am amazed every year after she sits all spring, summer and fall pump it twice and she's running. I did change oil this year and installed new power steering pump after plowing all last winter with basically no power steering, good for upper body strength. Love the channel and the enlightening narration, you do an excellent job explaining what is going on and I appreciate that, thanks. Here's to a better 2022 hopefully, live long and prosper.
Good job! Obviously that’s a good repair on that truck lol. You can also get some universal weather pack connectors on Amazon. I keep some in stock with like 20 pins slots. I’ve used them many times on the low amp side and then I use winch battery cable quick connects for the motor side. Works good when new connectors aren’t available.
Soup sandwich, haven't heard that in a long time love it. Excellent job on mostly unnecessary repair work, cutting wires is the first step in reconnecting them, people can't count up to 2 now!!!!. Thanks for sharing and stay safe in 2022.
As parts of America get hit by snow storms we are sweating in the heat and for once getting some rain. Everything is green which it hasn't been in a few years. You and your family have a great new year and thank you for all the enjoyment you have brought me over the past one.
