We're Back a Dinosaur Story: Cage Scene Lost Deleted Scene (My Version)

- I do not own any of this. We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story was released in 1993 and is based on a short children's book. It's the second 2D animated dinosaur related movie that Steven Spielberg was associated with and, like Don Bluth's The Land Before Time, was cut to be more child friendly.
Unlike The Land Before Time, there was only a single scene trimmed from the movie, as it was deemed "too intense", but it does impact the flow of the movie. As seen in the restoration below, the scene focused on the villain, Professor Screweyes, caging the dinosaurs after they agree to take the Brain Drain pills and join his circus.

I feel like if they keep this scene in the movie would have added a lot to the story would made the movie better
Me too
@@baileydavis1616 Yes indeed
I must agree with Rex. Screweyes really is nuts
What surprisses me is what it took him that long too know Dr. Screweyes had more than one screw loosed
So, this scene basically helps his death scene.
I really DON'T think it was very fair for them to cut that scene when they made the movie, Because I Doubt very much it would have scared me at all as a little kid.
Some kids are built different.
I wish I’d had this when I was a kid personally- but some kids literally can’t handle this level of insanity.
I mean the circus alone was practically nightmare fuel for me when I saw this movie as a kid (those demons, flying ghosts, imps, fire-breathing dragons and the grim reapers with that amusing joke of one of the performers accidentally losing his mask that he was lucky to retrieve from an audience member)….. so yeah, might as well have included this scene. 🤷♂️
Hopefully, this lost scene will be rediscovered in its entirety.
Well reading the Movie's Novelization, I found the rest of the sentence of Screweyes! Professor Screweyes: How you will satisfy their fears.

We’re back a dinosaur’s story is one of my favorite movies
I love this film too
This scene alone could have made him a very memorable and great villain people would talk about to this day! No matter what the rest of the movie would have be
The line "I am the master of my fear!" Sounds cool edgy and badass. And it’s my favourite quote
I loved watching this movie with my brother when we were kids. It's a shame that this scene has been cut and lost from the final film. It gives more of a back story to professor screw eye and why he had crows. Still great movie even without the scene
Had Screweyes been in a different movie, he would have been the scariest character in a children’s movie since the Child Catcher from “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”
Well I have a crazy idea! What if one day we can do our best to recreate the entire deleted scene. I have the books and the photos inside them. And, why not?! Plus, with having the novelization it would be perfect to use as the script. It's nuts, but it is still possible to become a reality
Give generative AI a few years and it'll be done.
I love crows
I wish this was HD version of this scene. He’ll I’d buy a 30th anniversary 4K if that and behind the scenes clips where added.
Me too
This proves to me why John Malkovich was the better voice option.
This Character looks like the Count Olaf from A series of a unfortunable events
this would've been cool to see in the movie. it would've helped it make for sence, especially the history of screweyes' obession of fear
YAAAAAAS! 💁🏼♀️💅🏻
Neat
John Malkovich?
It does sound like him
Yes he was initially to play Screweyes
Just for a workprint
No wonder they cut this scene, it's pretty dark
When did they cut it? I have that scene in my og tape my dad brought from the studio. Ive watched this move 100 times at least. How does no one know of this masterpiece
Granted it was a bit different and wasn't so choppy or anything. But I remember that story and the scene of him beating the dinos in the cage. And I remember being so sad for the dinos.
None of the scenes ever existed
It's just one
I wanted to see those
Can you make we're back a dinosaur's story 1993 stage attack 1997 deleted version
I think John Malkovich was a little too young to voice Professor Screweyes, so if they had kept Malkovitch they should've made him younger. Kenneth Mars does fit well, although I wonder how Christoper Lloyd would've fared. Still, the mess of tones ruins the movie despite some good moments. I recall watching it in 1993 and commenting that "Jurassic Park was better" (I was 7).
They should have kept this scene in.
