      It's downright terrifying if you think about it, if you in there for petty non violent crimes you shouldn't be anywhere near violent or crazy dangerous people that's a crime right there imo. You knowingly putting people in harms way and not keeping them safe should be a lawsuit for liability but police aren't gonna arrest themselves so it just happens

    The problem is the sheriff's office and corrections officers are one department. It benefits the state to arrest individuals who would normally receive a ticket and process them into the system because there's a fee for being incarcerated a fee for court proceedings even when you're claimed indigent you still have pay for any medical treatments and that's almost every single jail you go to throughout the country. Even with the fentanyl pandemic being a major reason for the majority of incarceration there is no treatment for detox within these jails every single person that is processed in these prisons for drug use there is no medical protocol for assisting these inmates while they're waiting for their cases to be resolved if they have no money they are absolutely in debt to the court from the very minute they are processed by the sheriff even when cases are dismissed or decision has been made where the person is released on his/her first court date you still owe. There's no officers on these units??? What is to stop an inmate from trying to escape nothing if there's no officer on the unit inmates could be somewhere in a cell creating a hole for hours and the staff wouldn't even know because there's no officers on the unit and no officers doing rounds checking these cells making sure that every single person is counted for and every single room is also checked for any security lapses. It is absolutely ridiculous to have a prison with no security the only thing they're doing is keeping people out of the out of the jail but they're still locking those up that are in the street that are indigent they're absolutely homeless some of them and they're locking them up for trespassing in fractions that were minor but if your process this individual that's anywhere close to 1,000 per inmate that in just 2 weeks of incarceration and then they can get anywhere close to $1,000 in debt to the court. The worst part about it is that it is their own kind locking up their own kind.

    • @nicholasswaim2835
      @nicholasswaim2835 3 місяці тому

      He's the reason it happened. He purposely had the administration (boehrer) run the jail into the ground when he was removed from office (he was still technically sheriff and calling the shots) so it would appear that without him it would go out of control. Then when he knew he would be convicted he had boehrer promote levon allen to the #2 spot so that when boehrer retired he would take over. And as Victor's godson or whatever he would appear to come in and save the day. But victor still wanted to control the sheriff's office but Levon bucked on him so now they don't get along

    • @nicholasswaim2835
      @nicholasswaim2835 3 місяці тому

      @difencrosby it really was never clear but what I garnered from all the back and forth was basically victor was still trying to run the sheriff's office from prison and levon finally had enough of being a puppet for victor and wanted to go in a different direction. Hopefully it's to make things better. Clayton county and atlanta area always has a place in my heart lol. My family was one of those that left during white flight but I hated it and moved back when I was old enough because that's where everything is

    • @nicholasswaim2835
      @nicholasswaim2835 3 місяці тому

      @difencrosby as far as the jail goes (I worked in that jail 7 years and I've been on the other side in that jail too) I personally think the way to calm down things in the jail isn't a whole strict discipline militant jail they really just need c/o's and deputies that will actually talk to the inmates normally. Like go into the sections and just talk about what's on t.v. and shit like that. Most of those guys in there are pretrial and are there for petty stuff. You can talk to them and if they ask for a cell phone tell them no. It's OK to say good luck to the guys as they head out to go over to the court side. Just talking to them helps. If you have to fight then yeah whoop ass but don't just be an asshole every day. Hell I peppersprayed a guy fighting and handcuffed him then helped him get through it cuz I was like "goddammit Andre I got myself too" lol. I used to tie ties for the guys going to court if they didn't know how. I had a Mexican guy I could call to translate for Spanish speaking people and I'd just get him an extra tray or a clean uniform or a quick free call home. One guy got a life sentence and was crying and I told him to just chill up in the staging area until he got himself together before he goes back to his unit.
