- Pop Up Choir #10, Michael Culloton, Guest Conductor performs Williametta Spencer's setting of from the Holy Sonnets VII by John Donne. This concert was performed at St. Mary's Chapel at The Saint Paul Seminary in St. Paul, MN
I sang this in the school Choir in Honolulu Ha, freshmen year, class of '81. I was 1st and 2nd Alto. An absolutely majestic and ethereal song I never ever forgot. Now that I'm older and live out my faith, this song means so much more. It made an imprint on my young heart all those years ago.😇
Well said. Thank you. At the Round Earth’s is my all-time favorite. This is one of the best versions I’ve heard.
We sang it at All-District Choir in Oklahoma in 1976. We were all so taken with it, our high school performed it at district and state contests. I appreciated it even more after I read a few essays on the meaning of Donne’s sonnet.
God Bless you and yours.
Listened 4x in a row, this is a VERY good rendition.
Fortunate to have sung this piece in High School with the Connecticut All State Choir in 1996. What a song. Our director slowed the tempo of the last few measures significantly, and when I hear a more crisp ending like this it throws me off a bit haha! All to one’s interpretation of the sheet, of course. But Anyway - this rendition is wonderful. Thank you 🙏
We sang in Vermont All State Choir in 1988 ❤😊
I sung this in high-school choir 1976-77 Poteau Oklahoma high-school
Bravo

I know the music calls for ~126 but the ending done slower is really how this piece needs to be all the way through. The rushed beginning (yes, per written tempo) does not allow the piece to tell the story.
