@2:05 How the heck do leaves get past the air filter?!
This engine had been setting outside partially disassembled at the time that I purchased it.
Big thanks I figured I could hose it down but had to make sure
I'm glad you found it helpful. Thank you for watching.
About how long should we let it soak in the purple power??
I would go for an hour, it wouldn't hurt if you wanted to let it go overnight.
Purple power is great for caked on geese too I have seen it used in restaurants.
yeah, this stuff works great. Also, try Totally Awesome, it is a little milder cleaner and is safe on aluminum.
@@martinbuilt Yes also can confirm Totally Awesome lives up to its name. Guess if you can clean a geese trap you already know how to clean an engine haha.
Good video very transparent on the cleaning procedure
I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful. Thank you for watching.
My 2013 f150 v6 3.7 has a weird noise when I put on reverse and drive on neutral and parking no and thr mechanic noticed the noise came from the intake what to do? Thanks
good work Martin...cleaned up very nicely.
If you don't have hot water available, will cool water harm the process or the intake manifold?
no, hot water just does a better job of cleaning
Freakin' Awesome! Thanks Martin.
I love it. Washes it all down the storm water..
Marvelous Martin! Awesome 💪💪👍👍
Thank you Ray I appreciate that I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful.😎👍
Martin did you notice any mpg diffrence with the cleaning ?
I wouldn't know because I cleaned the intake manifold then installed it for the first time on this engine with an oversized throttle body.
Hmm very similar to cleaning a dirty bong. A Helpful tip: Use salt or a light abrasive to help scrape off resin/carbon .
Thanks for sharing...Lol
Where can I get the brush that you used to clean the intake with?
27-Inch Flexible Dryer Lint Brush amzn.to/31Hq74F
Thanks for watching.
@@martinbuilt thank you for the reply
What is the sensor on the front of the intake called
That is the map sensor.
@@martinbuilt thank you
I have code p2006 one of them stuck open will this clear the code? Engine light on need smog! :(
Does coolant pass threw the intake manifold ? And if so how ?
no coolant passes threw the intake manifold
@@martinbuilt so the gaskets between the heads and the intake manifold . I guess my question would be could that cause coolant too get into the cylinders. And if so how ?
@@joshuacarter9140 In most cases one of the head gaskets is blown or the engine overheated so bad that it can crack the cylinder head causing coolant to leak into the cylinder.
@@martinbuilt I'm very green I'm sure you can tell lol . I had replaced both heads and many other things. And had steam coming out of the tail pipe. After taking the heads of I couldnt find any visual evidence of the gasket being blown. So I was confused. And heard that the manifold could leak .
Where can I find this brush, to clean it ?
amzn.to/3Jq8GuI
Nice video! I need to clean an intake since it has metals from a valve!
Thank you, you may need to replace the intake, after cleaning it I would use a inspection scope to make sure you got all the metal removed.
Nice job Martin.I wish I would have taken the time to do that to mine when I just recently replaced my heads.I just wanted to get my truck back on the road.It is my DD...
Thank you, Dan, I here you. What happened that you had to replace the heads?
That stupid plastic T at the heater hose connection busted while driving down the interstate one morning and it over heated.I didnt really know how bad it was so I replaced both heads.Timing chains, water pump, fan clutch, belt and tensioner were also replaced at the same time.Almost forgot I did lifters too....Come to find out it was only a head gasket..She runs pretty good now for having over 200,000 mi.on her.....
How did you dry the inside
By rotating the intake in several different directions you're gonna get well over 95% of the fluid out.
You could hook up a shop vac to the intake side or on each individual runner and this will move a large amount of air through the manifold and dry it out for you.
@@martinbuilt thank you I appreciate it definitely gonna be doing that today. I swamped my jeep this spring and hydro-locked it and finally got a reman last Monday.
Didn't want to try the blow torch and compressed air method on that plastic manifold?
I think I'll stick with the Purple Power/brush method...lol
so my runners are stuck open giving me a code p1007. after cleaning it like this do you think the code will engine light will go off. the upper manifold is almost 900 dollars
Yeah I would think it would after you clear the code unless there is something mechanically wrong.
@@martinbuilt ok thanks I've been having this problem with a dodge magnum. this will be my last try to get the code off and if not imma fold this car up and put it in the trash can.. thanks a bunch
@@sixnine79 Did leaning it fix your problem? I have an 07 Magnum with P0660.
Purple Power! I use that on everything
Chooched that intake pretty good!
