As a sparky I you made me absolutely cringe when you pulled your cables through. For starters you are using single insulated cables, you then pulled those single insulated cables through the metal holes you drilled. I truly hope for your sake that you did not cut one of the cables on any sharp edges. Question - as you ran single insulated cable in the metal roof section did you earth this section. Did you test the cables for any shorts given the method you used to pull the cable through the cavity. Did you do the wiring to your state or local code,

@@gregharding7329 this was done to code. There was no issue with cable. I actually you'd better cable than what used to be there. The ones that used to be there weren't even insulated.

@@FloridaFamFive well what do I say, except here in Oz that is a highly illegal and dangerous electrical installation. Let me ask you this, are you a licensed electrician and what training have you done. The single insulated cable in conduit is fine but once it enters the roof space its illegal. I notice you did not comment on pulling the cable through your metal hole with no bushing or whether you earth the metal of the roofing material. I freely admit I am not familiar with the US code of installation when it comes to electrics but they way this was installed is just so wrong at its most basic level its not funny.

@@gregharding7329 The fan beam is embedded in the foam core of the roof panel. The beam not only supports the ceiling fan but also creates an accessor for wires. The beam runs the full length of the roof panel. There are rubber garments on both ends where wire goes in and out to fan.
Yes this was installed above code and yes professionally installed. Sorry for any confusion you might have.

What size/length bolt and nut was used to mount the ceiling fan box? Did you also use a washer on the outside for the bolt? I'd like to duplicate what you did.

For your pan. You can use #10-32 pan head machine screws. It such a tight space so I only used a nut on it. I felt like it would hold better this way. But you can just use sheet metal screws and screw it in no need for nut and bolt. I didn't want to trust that so I put in the extra work.

I live in Florida so I assume I have a fan beam. I took off the cover plate and found electric. I can feel metal left and right of the hole but no way to use any nut. There are preexisting screw holes on both sides but no clue what size screw or length of screw. Any help

Your video was very informative. I would like to know if you have a contact or referral number for an installer that works in Tampa.

Hi. Great video. Question any advise on how to run the electrical into the wall? The installer left the wire outside the wall.

To answer this question I will need more info.
Was the electric wire old or did they run it new?

Can you see the fan box at all after the install? Does the fan cover cover it up?

There is a bit of a gap on mine but you don't really notice it. If anything it looks built in as part of the fan.

How did you mount the bracket to the foam board? Did you just use anchors? and will that be strong enough to hold a ceiling fan up safely?

Bolt and nut. With a 1" hole you can put your finger in there and hold the nut. Works good.

Is it possible to install a retractable sunshade to the underside of the panel? The weight would be around 15 lbs. Would itbbe strong enough to hold? Thank you.

how can I install an fan on elite panel with no beam

    • @FloridaFamFive

You can run conduit and into a junction box to hang light.
I know they make a add on beam to run electric if that would be easier. It's probably going to cost more but this is the best option. Professional look. Either on will work just fine.
