I love this kind of content. We as a community have so much to learn and this format is the most helpful for me, and I'm sure others too. Thanks gents!!
12 min in and those 2 guys are sharing some serious knowledge in very simple terms. They should focus also on educational Cardano content, great video ao far...
Wow, love what AL has done to help open source our ecosystem. Great job guys. One thing I wonder is, why optimistic and not ZK roll ups if the Chang hardfork is already imminent?
We want to start with optimistic rollups and then maybe transition to ZK rollups later. Three reasons: 1. When Chang comes out, it will take some time for dev tooling to catch up and support the new features with enough maturity. We don't want to get distracted fixing the tooling all the time. 2. Optimistic rollups have higher potential throughput than ZKs in the optimistic case (i.e. when no fraud) because we only have to provide proofs on L1 when fraud actually occurs. 3. Optimistic rollups' main weakness (long withdrawal time) can be mitigated. Phil mentioned that third-party liquidity providers can advance funds to users in exchange for a modest withdrawal fee. I think we can also leverage Hydra/Hydrozoa for an even bigger speedup in Midgard withdrawals.
Great interview. Thanks to the good explanation of Philip, George and the Cardano course I understood most of it. It makes me bullish that the ZK rollups are such a good fit for Cardano.
@@CardanoWithPaul love it! Any attention directed towards my favourite tech (Hydra) is great! I like a lot of the community development in this area, so happy progress is shown and people are starting to understand the uses for these systems
I thought some of the magic of Cardano was that it can scale up without Layer 2's. It is super fast and efficient. I don't see why you would want to mess with an L2 on Cardano. I would love to get some feedback on this. I feel L2's just complicate the user experience and deters adoption.
Cardano L1 is certainly formidable on its own (especially with upgrades like Leios coming). However, developing L2s specialized for particular usecases (which need higher throughput and faster finality) is an efficient use of resources - we can reach results faster than it will take to scale up L1 to the same level. And if L1 improves, our L2s also improve. Regarding L2 user experience, I agree wholeheartedly that we need to do much better than what we've seen so far in L2s on other chains.
Great interview but I don’t think that “doing things better” is enough to lure users away from what they are used to. What is the killer functionality that Cardano brings that will kickstart widespread adoption?

❤❤ thanks Paul enormous potential here; I am pumped for governance - however nervous of the cost of failure unconscious that democracy has feelings
LOL Everyone copies ETH... Even btc. And this is why ETH wins it all.

Well done Paul. It's heartening to listen to intelligent young people discussing topics like this in such detail.
Brilliant interview!! Wonderfully talented young people. I am 62 years young, and I have been investing since 2022. Well done Paul.
Thanks Gordy appreciate the comment
Great show! Excited for upcoming L2 solutions!

Happy to do more conversations like this on a variety of blockchain topics. Ask your favourite podcast hosts to invite us on their shows 😉
The reason why cardano can and will be on top.
Fantastic interview - need more exposure to these types of solutions being built
Thanks Ariel
Let's get those L2s!

Great interview, guys. Really exciting work ❤
Excellent video and great breakdown by these two guys. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Topic of the day it seems! Just did a twitter space with the Vyfi team and Adam Dean on L2 introductions at around the same time this video came out 😂
haha nice. Expect another one over the weekend or early next week covering their other proposal for Hydrozoa

Cool model. They build it so good that they can then make money from providing contract services to the projects that launch on it

Isnt Midnight an L2 project?
@@xandravanderlinden3082 No, Midnight is a separate chain. It has its own consensus mechanism and is focused on privacy and data protection.

Cardano L2s should not have token just like Base, This way they are immune from regulation
First!
Great one!
