F1 fans lost so much by having Alonso in midfield teams for a decade, no matter who you support. Having him in a top team is a different kind of entertainment
Aston Martin is a team that, in my opinion, has no prospects for improvement. Seriously, they have only gone downhill since the beginning of last year. Aston Martin will sooner drop out with both cars in Q1 in every race of the season than fight for podiums.
just also saying, Alonso's Kers usage down the kammel straight vs Hamilton back in 2013 is superb as well, he waited till Lewis to get out of his slipstream but despite the fact Lewis had DRS on him, he kept Lewis behind via the superier top speed of his Ferrari as well as the smart usage of the KERS butten
Fernando 2013 is so underrated... If not for his mistake in Malaysia ( crash that led to a broken front wing) and the tire change he would be up there fighting against Vettel. F1 for some reason really made us fans mis some beautifull racing from Fernando. More skilled than the whole pack imho
And also the moment he had in the end of the Kemmel straight, he braked so late to maintain his place against Lewis that the Ferrari made a big slide and he nearly lost the control if it was not because of his Alien reflexes
Thats normal many drivers use the overtake button to prevent overtakes thats why nowadays the cars need to be within 4 tenths to even be able to overtake properly (slipstream with drs and overtake)
@@Toku91 Prime Vettel (during Redbull era) was also a force to be reckoned with, honestly! I would love to see Fernando next to Verstappen, altough I think Verstappen is by far the best driver on the grid currently, he can still learn alot from Alonso!

The best decisions are picking Red Bull and Mercedes. Thats literally it, he went for Ferrari instead of Red Bull which is not a bad decision because its Ferrari, and after that Mercedes seats were locked up. If Honda actually made a decent engine everyone would be praising him for the Mclaren move, if Red Bull last year didnt build such a rocketship for Max he would have won a couple races and this narrative is over. Its a stupid thing everyone likes to parrot because they feel smart saying it.
@@elpiedra1596If Alonso was truly as great as his loyal fandom believes, the top teams would absolutely be making room to get him a seat. As of Spa 2024, it’s been 191 races since his last F1 win. Only nine more to go to reach that nice round number!
Not only that, he didn't even use full KERS at T7-T8, only just enough to put front wing side by side and take the inside of the corner and overtake. Saved some more energy for the remaining part of the lap

Amazing video. Please make a video about mercedes using shorter 7th gear than anyone else from 2016-2018 and force india until 2019 using mercedes powertrain and gearbox
Alonso is the smartest F1 driver. Yellistener has also shown in his other videos that Alonso has a great memory. Within seconds of his accident after 2023 Aus GP restart, Alonso said they should restore the car order based on a previous year similar incident. The Wiley Old Fox he is. Shoulda had 4 champs, but 1 point is 1 point…
He definitely experiments more and gives more thought to racing than most. Many seem to do the same thing over and over mindlessly. The opposite of Perez I guess, who needed help from the race engineer to overtake.
KERS was a better system in my opinion and we've lost a lot of tactics in F1 overtaking now because the DRS is the main method of passing because it's so powerful. When these cars didn't have as much downforce, the Dr's wasn't as strong so the KERS being used to defend and attack was by far the more interesting tool. It was also better to watch the graphic of the battery for both drivers and see how differently they used it on a lap. I'd much rather the new power units in 2026 have a sort of passive hybrid mode that works like it does now (but is less powerful. Like there is no PEAK mode, just a normal mode) and then you have a boost/overcharge mode which you can use for 7 seconds per lap, when ever you want, like KERS. It's not making it gimmicky like formula E because F1 did it first.
Yeah connected to main drivetrain is load for engine and transmision, mguk when connected before turning maybe recharge battery but also drop speed, when mguk and cluth disconnected car can swing like fall from air . Drive can save fuel also
It makes sense, because you use the straight to get on the back of the car and with 3 low speed corners after it the Dirty air hasn't understeered you away from them yet so your prime to attack.
No no no lol. Look at the whole “derate” thing. The cars drop speed at the end of a straight whenever the driver selects a lean fuel mixture. Notice his right hand turns a knob just before the speed drops? In F1 games, the same happens. Rich fuel mixture on the straight, then you change to lean in the corners to save fuel/ have better traction.

Just so you know , drivers have engineers.. who sit with the driver and plan things out .. I’m not saying Alonso is not smart but there are many discussions that take place given the car condition
The cool thing about this is that there is no DRS in the rest of the circuit, which makes it impossible for the driver behind to try to retake the position
Alonso will one day be a great team strategist. His knowledge of every circuit, the advantages and disadvantages of every vehicle on the grid, and his awareness of other drivers' mentality is unrivalled. Whoever manages to hire him after retirement will be one lucky team.

Why wouldn't you use it coming out of a fast section before a major braking zone? Seems like one of the best places for an overtake, that and exit of puhon and pif paf
In this case it’s highlighting exactly this thinking: you’d expect it on that section of track. While you’re mentally setting up a defense for later on, Alonso just blew past you on a short straight.
