This is Savoy Brown at it's peak. Chris Youlden at this time was one of the greatest white blues singers around. The albums he did with the band still stand up today as great "rock and blues". This band should be in the R&R Hall of Fame.
First introduced in 1970 to this song.............i played it all night long......this and creedence clearwater heard it thru the grapevine.....made a helluva night. To this day brings back memories
Saw SB at Union College in 1969 with the bands Love and Family. This was one of the great concerts of all time. Every band rocked the place. SB stole the show from the first note. Chris Youlden with his tophat on was awesome. Will always love these guys. Thanks for posting the BOOGIE, a real nostalgia booster.
I fckn LOVE this song, and this band! This song always takes me back to the days when I first discovered Savoy Brown, it was 1996, and I immediately fell in love. I was only 16, and I was visiting my best friend, and somewhere during the course of that night his dad put this record on...and that was it! In those days though, it wasnt easy to find music like this, and my best friend lived 20 miles away lol.luckily we DID have the magic of burnt CDs :p
I was lucky enough to have older brothers who owned this album. I was listening to it in my early teens. This song was stuck in the back of my mind for the last 30+ years. I have since become a big John Lee Hooker fan, and now I know why. Thanks for putting this on UA-cam! You made my life complete.
Hey! Thanks for the posting! I was trippin' on acid, New Years Eve, 1970! Local FM "underground" radio played this track at the crack of midnight! Made for a good party! Probably inspired me to be a giutar and singer for the rest of my life! Ha!
spfldborn OK, first time responding...heard this when I was a Freshman at Acadia U., fall of 1970. Think it was Dick Coopers' (from Gloucester, MA) off campus apt. You better believe I'd swallow a bucket of warm spit before I danced in front of anyone...but I ended up dancing to this and the rest of the album. Undoubtedly, anyone who was there that night have blocked out this nightmarish event from their memory; but I can attest it to be true. Thank U lorjim58.
@lujackb I hear you i saw them 20 or more times at filmore east and capital theater one of the best live bands ever with Chris Youlden alot of acid and refer man but like you i been sober 15 years still love the Brown
@fed1126 absolutely spot-on comment. Saw SB with Chris Youlden 3 times in 1969 and they always rocked the house as few bands ever could. This was a well oiled boogie machine in their prime.
Saw Savoy Brown in 1969 at Tarter Field in Detroit (Wayne State University campus). Is this the venue where this was recorded? Chris Youlden mentioned Detroit, so it got me to wondering. Was a great free concert.
this my friends is foghat before the metamorphisis now this is the savoy brown at there finestother lps are as follows;getting to the point, blue matter and there debut shakedown
Yeah thx lorjim58 for this wonderful & classic SB tune upload... I literally destroyed my dad's HeathKit built stereo system playing the 'Boogie' full throttle! back in the early 70's when I was 17... I'm guessing we're close to the same age if 58 reflects yr born... my twin still has the LP... Saw Kim Simmonds @ a Bluesfest & he was burning up the blues! Again thx, this is a real gem... the cover art is cool too... time to twist 1 & play it again... cheers!
