    I have had a Terra since launch and you are right, long as you build it right you get decent temps and noise. People having issues usually don't have a gap between the fans and the side panel or they are trying to cool a 14700k with a NH-L9i.

    You shoud edit the voltage/frequency curve in MSI afterburner for an undervolt/underclock to reduce wattage (thus temps) of the GPU while keeping virtually the same performance. The memory of the 4080S usually supports a good overclock (+1300 on mine). There are detailed videos on YT about this. Depending on game, wattage can be reduced by 50-100W for maybe a 2-3 fps loss. These tweaks are even more useful in a compact build

      @@Gamer4Eire Actually you should undervolt it (at least 4080S ProArt, which btw I also have) because it can reach 70ºC+ (85-90ºC hot spot) in games. ProArt is beautiful looking card, but it has smaller cooling system than the other 4080(S) models, and because of that it can reach higher temps. And also why not take advantage of the opportunity to have the same performance with lower power consumption and thus temps?

    • @Tvv1SteR
      @Tvv1SteR 4 місяці тому

      @@Gamer4Eire Well, I would not say that it is as you say ("and neither one goes about 70 under load"), because as I can see from your gameplay video of Ghost of Tshushima your Zotac Trinity 4080S reaches 75ºC at ~300W load. And everything is perfectly fine with my build, it works flewlessly.

    Good review! A suggestion, on the FPS bar chart keep the names uniquely identifiable (eg: use Space Marine 2, etc). I understand that even without '2' it is easily understood, but it doesn't hurt to add it and make it clear. A known case would be to not put 'V' with GTA, if you were testing it.

    Build is done (4070ti super in my case and Ghost edition 2 fan on CPU) set curve optimiser at -20 and sweet! . Temps sit around 80/85 when playing Indy @4k, maxed out settings, full path tracing and DLSS Quality (FPS capped to 60 for now until I move it to the 120Hz tv). I was wondering what under voltage or any other tweeks I could do to just try and get the temps down 5 degrees, say a max of 80 degrees? I know the chips are designed to run hot, but it'd be nice to have it a little cooler if possible and not so close to the limit allowing for spikes in temp. Video was really helpful by the way and very pleased with my games machine!

    Hi, first time PC builder here:
    I have decided to go for an ITX build and this video was great help!
    I was thinking about putting a Ryzen 7 7700X CPU due to stock availability and price. Same goes for the GPU, want to go for a 4070.
    The Motherboard I’m going for is MSI MPG B650I EDGE WIFI. Would the cooling options in this video keep the system at bay or do I run the risk of overheating?
    Lastly, worrying about the dust getting into the case due to the last gaps in the case, so considering to get some loose dust mesh filter to stick to the inside of the case behind the openings, but worrying it may have an effect on airflow.
    Thoughts?
    Amazing job on the video again, great stuff.

    • @MashITTech
      @MashITTech  2 місяці тому +1

      hey mate, glad you enjoyed the video. you will be using lower power components than I used so you should not encounter any heating issues. My only advice is like my build make sure you keep some clearance either side of the case to eliminate any turbulence. What region are you in? I can help you choose components if it is any help? Lastly with regards to dust, dont worry too much, yes dust will build up over time but the beauty of this case is it is very easy to flip up the panels and the the fans/heatsinks a clean over the coming years.

    • @kurok1tenshi
      @kurok1tenshi 4 місяці тому

      It´s being limited by the cooler of choice, that´s the major problem with air cooling mini itx cases, the CPU suffers if it gets one of these low profile coolers but it gets way better if the case can accommodate an IAO or a small tower cooler.

      I am a little confused with your question. If you get a larrger ATX you will get much better airflow but with the right component choice the ITX systme will run pretty cool easily for 5 years (obviously if you live in a dusty environment you may want to clean it every so often). I am currently working on some larger builds ATM so you may want to see how they look/perform so you can compare. I am always here to help if you have any specific questions. Hi there, love your videos! I was wondering if I could pick your brain about something - I'm looking to build my first PC (hopefully with the performance featured in this video!), though since I move around a lot I'm really limited to something compact, as such I've been trying to decide between a Fractal Terra build and a Densium 4 Plus V2 build from your prior video. Is it possible to get that kind of power (ie 4080 super) from a case that small, or is the Terra about the smallest you can get? Also, would you alternatively have alternative recommendations for someone trying to make the smallest smooth-4k-gaming-possible machine he can? Once again, mad respect for what you do, have a great day!

    • @MashITTech

      sadly as portable as the densium is, 4070 is the max I can fit in there but if you move the machine around a lot having something that small is amazing. Plus it is really solid so no worries about transporting it regularly. The terra is also an amazing machine but also much bigger and not so solid feeling. Other options are a Dan a4h20 (but I dont like to use water coolers for regular travel) and the forms T1. I have just been working in the form t1 and will have. a video on that one soon as my 9800x3d arrives (stuck in customs atm) but that could well be the best choice if you are willing to put the time into building it as it comes completely flat packed.

    Noise levels are important for me, if dropping 10% performance means a substantially quieter build, idm. Any advice is welcome!

      You absolutely can swap the fan, I have done it before. It is a little quieter but not everyone wants to pay the extra for that little improvement. And yes you can create a duct and it doesn’t create any turbulence

      So what was the reason for choosing the 7900 non x (tdp 65W) over the 7800x3d (tdp 120W)? I'm leaning towards the 7800x3d because of the better gaming performance, but I don't know if I should use the Noctua NH-L12s or the ThermalRight AXP90-X47 for a quiet 4K gaming Terra build like yours.

    • @MashITTech
      @MashITTech  4 місяці тому +1

      the only reason I chose 7900 was for the extra cores. If it was just a gaming machine I would choose 7800x3d (and have in other gaming builds) but I wanted to make a machine capable of gaming and work such as my video editing, 3D design with a little gaming on the side 😊 for a pure gaming rig the 7800x3d is a much better choice and is easily cooled by the axp90-x47 copper, I even managed to cool a 7800x3d with a tiny l9a low profile cooler in my densium build (5l tiny build)

    How much does the entire system weigh in total?
    I am genuinely considering going back to desktop gaming from the laptop, but I have to move from one country to another quite often.

    • @MashITTech
      @MashITTech  4 місяці тому

      Haha I always forget to put the weight inthe video so did add it to the description. the complete build is 6.93kg/15lb5oz. I love laptops and obviously review a lot but I still prefer a ITX desktop for the lack of fan noise and upgradability. If I was going country to country I would probably go with something smaller and lighter like my densium build: ua-cam.com/video/c2U1-5nOjxw/v-deo.html

      @@MashITTech Most allow up to 10kg but some goes down to 8, so this being under 7 even, that should work just fine.
      When I had to go from desktop to laptop with the "same" components, I definitely felt the performance hit. I do miss the desktop.
      I can buy and sell monitors wherever I go, I carry the peripherals in the larger check-in luggage anyway. Thanks for that. I'll check out the smaller setup as well, cheers.

      Hey mate, The L12s may be slightly better but it is quite a bit more expensive. If you have the budget it will work well, if you want to save some pennies the x47 full copper cools the processor without any issues. And with regards to the OC version, it is almost the same but runs a few mhz faster, it wont cause any heat issues as there is more than enough headroom. This case is conceptually wrong. It invites you to mount a good quality GPU, but forces you to choose less performing processors because you don't have the possibility of mounting a good CPU cooler. It's all wrong. I strongly advise against that processor with that CPU cooler.
