In 1976 I became a Catholic. Four years later, I was going through a terrible divorce and quit going to church. I then got into metaphysics. Four decades later in 2023, I watched The Chosen and my heart felt like it was exploding with love, and I came back to the Catholic Church. 🙏🏻🥰
@@Southern_Made I wasn’t born/raised a Catholic or in any religion, but I was always drawn to the Catholic faith. I was baptized and confirmed in 1976. Drifted away, and then came back.
I was convinced Christianity is true this past year. It has changed my life. My husband is on the same path. My mom became a believer 2 months ago. Something is happening. God is calling to people
And people all over the world are as equally convinced that Sikhism and Hinduism and Islam are true. And your "faith" says those people are going to hell for eternity. That's completely insane. Congratulations on abandoning all reason - that's encouraged by the church. And babies get cancer and planes crash because some people ate some fruit thousands of years ago. You have lost your mind.
I see it in my own life as well. Friends I have that were known atheists/agnostic are turning to Christ. It’s a beautiful thing. I was raised Christian, was extremely close to losing my faith and God called to me. I still struggle like everyone else, but the peace and joy I find in Christ is the realest thing I have ever known.

That is so good that I copied it down. Another irony about Jesus is that He came not to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. (from Matthew 20:28) How much more should we be willing to serve!
the teachings of the RC church contradict the Scriptures. # 1-calling the pope or priests father is forbidden, Matt. 23:9. # 2-praying repetitive prayers is forbidden, Matt. 6:7. # 3-the Mary of Catholicism is a fabrication. Jesus had brothers and sisters from the womb of Mary. Matt. 13:55, 56. Joseph began normal sexual relations with his wife after Jesus was born. Matt. 1:24, 25. The Bible says there is only one Mediator between God and man, 1 Tim. 2:5. Catholics claim Mary is a co mediator with Jesus. this is false. you engage in endless praises of Mary. When a woman praised her to His face, did Jesus commend and encourage this woman to continue praising Mary? "While Jesus was saying these things, one of the women in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore You and the breasts at which You nursed." But He said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it." Luke 11:27-28 Mary is NOT the Queen of heaven. she can not forgive sins. # 4-Catholics think the sacraments are a means to receive grace needed for salvation. the grace of God is given freely to the humble who repent of their sins, Jam. 4:6 # 5-Most Catholics believe the Apostle Peter was the first pope and was not married. Peter was married, "Now Simon's mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and immediately they spoke to Jesus about her." Mark 1:30. # 6- idolatry. Catholics regularly bow down to idols, icons and images of Jesus, Mary and the apostles, kissing the feet of the statues and praying to them. the Bible condemns such practice. "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. "You shall not worship them..." Exd. 20:4, 5. idolaters go to to hell, " But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, IDOLATERS, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Rev. 21:8 # 7-necromancy. Catholics are necromancers by praying to dead people, including Mary. the bible forbids this practice, "or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD." Deut. 18:11, 12 "And when they say to you, “Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,” should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?" Isa. 8:19 # 8-scapulars are superstitious amulets. there is no evidence of Christians wearing them in the book of Acts. # 9-there is no purgatory. Pope Innocent IV invented it in 1254. # 10- the doctrine of extreme unction is false. # 11-the doctrine of "holy" water is false. # 12-the canonization of dead people is a blasphemy. # 13-celibacy is false. # 14-there is no evidence in the NT Scriptures of men confessing their secret sins to unknown men in a confessional. we confess to a known person a fault we may have committed against him/her and ask forgiveness from that individual for that particular offense. Luke 17:3, 4 this is what Jam. 5:16 is referring to. ONLY God can hear and forgive the secret sins of sinners. # 15-the catholic mass is a christianized satanic ritual. Rome claims its priests have the magic power to transform the wafer into the literal body of the Lord Jesus. but this "miracle" is only an illusion. the wafer remains a wafer. when God gives men the power to perform miracles, a real miracle takes place. when Jesus turned the water into wine, the water was literally transformed into wine. Catholicism teaches one is born again at infant baptism. it teaches one receives Christ when he/she partakes of the wafer (Eucharist). This deadly deception is the result of the bogus idea that the communion elements (bread and wine) have been transubstantiated by the priest into the literal body, blood, soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. This has led people into the worship of the consecrated communion wafer as one would worship God Himself. this heresy is based in a faulty interpretation of John 6:53-58 Jesus was NOT speaking literally. He was comparing Himself to the bread God gave Moses in the wilderness. John 6:4, 32-40
@@flowermeerkat6827 there are 2 sins mention in Rev. 21:8 that Catholics practice, "But as for the cowardly, the unbelievers, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

That was not my path, tho. I first met God as an atheist, and wasn’t happy about it. He was an interloper into my comfortable life and I didn’t want Him. I asked Him how long he had been there. “Always” He said. All this without words. I studied Scripture and religion hoping for a way out. Even going deeper into the East - Hinduism, Buddhism, you name it - just gave me shards of truth that sent me back to Christianity. Even other believers didn’t help. My questions were too often answered by “I don’t know, talk to my priest/minister.” My response was “if you don’t even know, how do you believe?” I met one guy who knew what he was talking about, who brought me to church. I figured, what could it hurt? I met the same Presence there, at the consecration of the Eucharist. I asked Him, are you here, too? He said “always”. I was Catholic that moment. No doubts. Many many questions tho. Conviction of my own sin came after all that. God reaches us in the way each person needs. I’ve been happily Catholic for 44 years now!
As a Protestant, I think part of the draw to Catholicism to many people is that it still carries many of the traditional Christian values around family and lifestyle that many Protestant denominations have forgotten about…
I'm quite honestly tired of hearing about denominations. I read the bible, pray at the night time and try to apply what I learn to my life, and I understand people have varying interpretations but why can't it be as simple as that?
The problem with evangelicalusm is that it's in constant change, constant re interpretation of scripture, doctrines, etc.plus most services are a show, not worship, it sickens me, and it's tiring, I left catholicism, lived in evangelicalism for 20 years, and I couldn't take it anymore. Although baptised a Catholic , I finally got confirmed as a Catholic at 60. Protestant christianity allowed my wife to divorce me and remarry a year later in the evangelical church.
You're morons to think any of them are legit. If they don't preach grace through faith alone in His blood they aren't legit. Knowles is not Christian either.

I'm a convert to Eastern Orthodox Christianity from atheism. The first time I experienced the Divine Liturgy was other worldly. It truly feels, in the Liturgy, that Christ is with us, and we are offering our souls to him in worship just as the Apostles did in ancient times. We had the privilege of worshipping with our Bishop during a Liturgy somewhat recently, and the service was so beautiful it was bringing grown men to tears.

Long story short, I got ill and couldn’t make it to church, and when I got better I didn’t return to church. I became very worldly, traveled a lot, had my mind set on worldly pleasures, my husband was pretty much the same. Though I had almost everything I wanted I wasn’t happy. I grew up catholic but as a teenager I stopped believing shortly after my confirmation. This was mainly due to watching a lot of videos by Richard Dawkins on the topic. But about 2 years ago, I was in a low place in life and became pessimistic about everything and everyone. I really needed a community that loved and cared for one another and tried to avoid the bad vices in life instead of gladly giving into them. The church was that for me. Rarely do I go outside and have people wave and smile at me, but at church it's a common occurrence. You become the people you surround yourself with. Just like all people, not every Christian is a good, saintly person. But I found that a lot of us at least try
You’ve just demonstrated absolutely no substantiated reason to believe in any of the claims of that religion, and that’s the fundamental problem with this topic. The things you’ve described about community can be obtained through other mechanisms. You see, the reason why people rightly criticise religious beliefs is because these religions all make claims about the natural world, about the origin of our species or universe, when the claims of these religions are grossly erroneous. If religion all universally agreed that it was a sort of therapeutic agent, nobody would have a problem with it, but no, it has to make outlandish ridiculous claims about the universe or magic. This is why it’s mocked.

All Christian Protestant denominations will stop protesting and come home to the One True, Holy, Apostolic Catholic church that Jesus Himself built. Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

From what I see, the Roman Catholic church is the first and only church of Jesus Christ that has a clear line of succession in the last 2,000 years. As Jesus promised, the gates of hell shall not prevail against it, as it still stands today. The Orthodox church can't even establish their line of succession or who their popes were. salvation is not found in a church. salvation is found in a Person and His death at the cross. the NT Scriptures have 27 books. that is where biblical Christianity is found. there is no evidence the disciples of the Lord kissing statues, wearing brown scapulars, praying with rosaries, praying to dead saints, selling forgiveness for money, performing a ritual (mass) to deliver souls from a place that does not exist (purgatory), rubbing their foreheads with charcoal, calling any of the apostles father (forbidden by Jesus, Matt. 23:9) claiming to be infallible, rejecting matrimony (Peter was married, Luke 4:38) confessing their sins to a man etc. etc. apart from all that, I don't find any of the disciples of the Lord trying to rule the secular world by threatening kings and emperors with superstitious excommunication, torturing and robbing multitudes as the RCC did during the Inquisitions and Crusades. in fact the Bible condemns such behavior, "As a fellow elder, a witness of Christ’s sufferings, and a partaker of the glory to be revealed, I appeal to the elders among you: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is among you, watching over them not out of compulsion, but because it is God’s will; not out of greed, but out of eagerness; NOT LORDING IT OVER THOSE ENTRUSTED TO YOU, but being examples to the flock." 1 Pet. 5:1-3
So now you have idols you pray to, pray to saints and the Virgin Mary when the bible specifically said "no one's goes to the father except through me". Meaning Jesus, it doesn't say pray to the Virgin Mary or saints. You've made a mistake. Pray about it and ask God for direction.
@@777hc777 you can still pray to idols so long as you don't mistake them for god. there is nothing wrong with praying to a saint whose story you resonate with and asking him for help. obviously you wouldn't pray to a saint for the forgiveness of your sins, because that's not up to the saint. problems only happen when you have a "false idol" which you mistake for god, and forget god over it
@Kit-kk9cb you can't be asking saints for anything. They can't do anythin. It takes away the purpose of Jesus dying on the cross. We only pray to Jesus whom was sacrificed on the cross. Did the saints die for any of your sins??? What power do they have??? They were humans just like we are, sinners that need redemption and salvation. Pray and ask God to reveal truth to you and He will. Ask God to take away anything that goes against His word.
People who are anti religion are afraid to take a good look at themselves. They don’t want to examine what they do and why they do it. It takes bravery to do that.
The celebrities have reached the so-called pinnacle of secular life and found it to be bereft of meaning and went out to search for something better. The only meaning that can be found lies in the truth. They believe they have found it, and I do too.
The number one thing that matters is are they coming to a life-transforming faith in, and personal relationship with, Jesus Himself. There's an old saying of going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than sitting in a garage makes you a car! I pray that whatever church they turn to, they will ultimately have that relationship with Him as their true foundation. Any doctrine or practice that is a religious substitute for that is straight from the pits of you know where!
Im Catholic. I don’t listen to ignorant speech by Protestant Christians. Those who talk badly, I immediately lose trust in them, and their sherpard the pastors. They are worshiping church, not Jesus. Think on it. Jesus said to follow him. Carry the cross. Protestant church, Catholic whatever. Follow his teachings. Follow his ways. I feel his presence and blessings. So Catholic or not doesn’t matter. Practice matters. Mindset matters. Love matters.
After abandoning God and my faith when I was a teen in high school, I found that life was horrible I was always angry and nothing ever felt fulfilling despite the fact that I was excelling in all my studies, but I had a good group a friends bring me back. It took me a while to rebuild my relationship with God, but now almost 10 years later, a life WITH God and WITH faith takes so much of bitterness and anger out of life. I have been more fulfilled in my faith, the message is true Jesus is knocking on the door, open the door and let Him into your heart. But looking back I have honestly never felt like I have had to "give anything up" I see my friends who walk that path and I want none of that in my life as I see the needless burdens it places on them.
A perk to being Catholic. I was raised to believe in God and Jesus but without any affiliation to a specific church. No baptism. My dad taught me my prayers and that was it. Fast forward to becoming engaged to my Catholic husband and I was Baptised in the Catholic church so we could be married in the church. Fast forward to taking my boys to the park and there's a group of women going around evangelizing to the other moms in the park. They get to me and ask if I am a Christian. I state I am Catholic and they say "Oh, okay," and turn around and leave. I asked my husband why they had no interest in me. He said, "It's because we are seen as a cult by many Christian denominations and they know we won't change. So, I never get bothered by anyone soliciting religion. Big perk.
Wow! Vanity Fair sounds like they're proceeding from a posture of cynicism and suspicion to me. I converted to Catholicism in my thirties. Reasons? Beauty and Truth. I am not aware of any political or social advantages to being Catholic in America. And I'm good with that.
The Catholic Church does not Ask constantly for you to give give give money but instead they ask for you to give of yourself. The Church ask you to give of your Time and Talents and if you wish to donate they do not give a specific amount you need to donate but leave it up to you. When we give our Tithes we do so maybe twice, the first collection goes directly for the direct use of the Parish your going attending i.e. the upkeep of the Church grounds and the programs. The second collection is usually for programs or things like St Vincent De Paul Society or even the Bishops Annual Appeal depending on your Diocese needs.
the NT Scriptures have 27 books. that is where biblical Christianity is found. there is no evidence the disciples of the Lord kissing statues, wearing brown scapulars, praying with rosaries, praying to dead saints, selling forgiveness for money, performing a ritual (mass) to deliver souls from a place that does not exist (purgatory), rubbing their foreheads with charcoal, calling any of the apostles father (forbidden by Jesus, Matt. 5:1-3
I'm not Catholic but am a Christian. When I was younger I went on a mission for my church. It was one of the most memorable and best times of my life. I saw people change their hearts toward Jesus. Their happiness and joy as they asked me questions and I helped them find answers in the scriptures was visible.
It is ultimately about our relationship with God. Those doing those things will receive full punishment. Those who know and do nothing will also be held to account as well. Matt 25:33-46 And remember, just because people are in the church does not necessarily mean they are Christian.
I'm not a celebrity, but I converted from Mormon to Catholic last Easter, and I can agree because it's true. In Idaho everyone is Mormon, it would've made more sense at least socially to stay Mormon
That had to have been very difficult for you. I grew up in Arizona and spent 12 years in the Catholic school system, my husband was in the public school system. Because we both came from large Catholic families and so my husband's neighborhood was mainly LDS and his friends and classmates in public school were all LDS. It's been an interesting learning curve for both myself and our friends. They've been exposed to Catholicism on a very personal level throughout our married life and the religious lives of our children. And we've been included in their baptisms and the opening of their missionary call letters etc. The LDS community is very, very close knit. They were welcoming to us because we looked familiar. But I can't imagine what would happen if one of our friends tried to leave the LDS church. Everything in their lives is tied to the church. They get financial assistance, business referrals, political agreements, voting blocks in the community, marriages that ally families. If you walk away you lose that safety net. It's very courageous of you to take that leap of faith. I can tell you that you don't really need all of that codependent support if you're willing to do the work for yourself and your family. God bless you and welcome to the family.
Idaho born and raised. I'm not a Mormon, although my ancestors on both sides were. Through what I would call Devine intervention, my parents were both raised Protestant in Southest Idaho no less. I love my Mormon relatives and friends. I just pray they find the grace and love of Jesus.

I’ve considered myself Atheist since 2013. Last week, I began attending RCIA at my local Catholic Church. God is calling me back home.
the teachings of the RC church contradict the Scriptures.
"While Jesus was saying these things, one of the women in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore You and the breasts at which You nursed." But He said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it." Luke 11:27-28
Mary is NOT the Queen of heaven. she can not forgive sins.
# 4-Catholics think the sacraments are a means to receive grace needed for salvation. the grace of God is given freely to the humble who repent of their sins, Jam. 4:6
# 5-Most Catholics believe the Apostle Peter was the first pope and was not married.
# 7-necromancy. Catholics are necromancers by praying to dead people, including Mary. the bible forbids this practice, "or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD." Deut. 18:11, 12
"And when they say to you, “Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,” should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?" Isa. 8:19
# 8-scapulars are superstitious amulets. there is no evidence of Christians wearing them in the book of Acts.
How lovely! He is! 🙂

Same. I used to hang out with left wing people, but I was extremely anxious and felt depressed most of the time when I was with them. I felt alone in their company. They are always looking for an argument and are always on a witch hunt. Believing in God feels like seeing the sun shining after years of cloudy weather.

My wife and I were on our way to church this morning. The parking lot of each church we passed was packed. As I said to her, I'm pleased to see each and every one of them attracting believers. Because, whether Catholic or Protestant, we are all Christians. The various denominations have differences in doctrine. But in our humanly imperfect way we believe and search for the Truth.

No, these works aren't the source of your salvation, yet Jesus says to do this because otherwise we're not His disciples.

The church is not tying people down with rules they have to follow. I taught my kids that those rules were like a string on a kite. It's there to help take you higher than you could have gone without that string. If you cut the string on a kite to let it do whatever it wants in the wind, it falls down because it has no direction.

Beautifully said!!

In a true celebration of God one can not only feel the presence of God and his holiness, but his complete love and forgiveness.

All Christian Protestant denominations will stop protesting and come home to the One True, Holy, Apostolic Catholic church that Jesus Himself built.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
But even the Catholic Church split from the primordial church (The Eastern Church) in 1054. The Holy Fire comes down only to the Orthodox on Easter. The Catholic Church must return to the main church.
@@ancapasca3305 I think you got it the other way around. I believe it's the orthodox who split from the Roman Catholic church because they didn't want a single pope to head the papacy.

23:9) claiming to be infallible, rejecting matrimony (Peter was married, Luke 4:38) confessing their sins to a man
etc. etc. apart from all that, I don't find any of the disciples of the Lord trying to rule the secular world by threatening kings and emperors with superstitious excommunication, torturing and robbing multitudes as the RCC did during the Inquisitions and Crusades. in fact the Bible condemns such behavior, "As a fellow elder, a witness of Christ’s sufferings, and a partaker of the glory to be revealed, I appeal to the elders among you: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is among you, watching over them not out of compulsion, but because it is God’s will; not out of greed, but out of eagerness; NOT LORDING IT OVER THOSE ENTRUSTED TO YOU, but being examples to the flock." 1 Pet.

Praise God for your journey!
So you are now lying with catholics?
