    I love how he asks the question of "what if your wife doesn't want to convert with you ?'. It comes back full circle to the choice of Catholicism. Because Catholicism actually even allows marriage between different religions. It does not recommend it, because it does note it's complicated and there are some things you have to do, like making an effort to raise the children catholic, but compared to several other religions, it's way more flexible in that aspect.

    First, Christ has redeemed the world. Christ has conquered the powers of sin and death. The Gospel is good news for a reason!
    Second, Christ actually instituted a single, unified Church while he was on Earth in order to confer his salvific divine life to the rest of humanity. We call this Church, this body of humans, the Catholic (aka "Universal") Church today. The Church is Christ's bride, whom Christ has come to wed himself to on Earth, a wedding which will extend forever in Heaven.
    The Bible begins with an earthly marriage between Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and ends with a supernatural marriage between Christ and His Church in Heaven.
    Heaven is an wedding feast. And God wants to marry us, now and extending forever into eternity. To all who read this comment, I exhort you, for your own good, to join the Catholic Church, the eternal bride of Christ, instituted on the authority of Peter and his successors (Mt 16:18-19), which will last until the end of time.
    God love you.

    Here’s what Michael and these guys all get wrong, if maybe just in this clip.
    Religion doesn’t need to explain science. It doesn’t need to explain that we exist or how we were created (evolution vs creation). It does need to explain why we are here . We’re here to exercise our agency and be tested in a mortal life. The purpose of that is so that we can learn to trust God and gain faith. Because we will be imperfect and make mistakes, a merciful and just god provided a savior; his son Jesus Christ. His atonement for our sin allows us as imperfect people the opportunity to make it through this life and return to our father in heaven after we die.
    You can certainly find joy and happiness in this life without believing this. But the purpose of this life isn’t simply to be happy. It’s to be tested and given the opportunity to become like Him.

    • @LosOdium141
      @LosOdium141 5 днів тому

      The more philosophically phrased argument is less about actual motion and the idea of philosophical potential, the ability to be changed or moved from a prior state to a more developed one. The Thomist argument concludes that a being that cannot be changed by any other being must exist to prevent the infinite regression of beings acting upon one another. It's similar to tracing the expansion of the universe back to a moment of infinite density, the Big Bang.
      The natural processes also leave open an important question: why do these natural processes occur the way that they do?

    • @jron772
      @jron772 5 днів тому +2

      Im not an intelectual or theologian. But I thought about your comment for a little bit. Where did the natural process come from ? Before the earth stars, moon and galaxies im assuming there was nothing. Imagine a pitch black void. How does something come out of a pitch black void ? In that pitch black void there has to be something that gets things in motion. Well you could say that a pitch black void IS also something. Where did that pitch black void come from ? The only thing that makes sense to me is that it comes from something that has always been. God wasnt created . He has always been. And that God created us with the ability to ponder our existence. That void in our hearts that longs for happiness. A longing that cant be fulfilled by earthly pleasures. That longing is Him calling us back to Him our creator.

    • @LosOdium141
      @LosOdium141 5 днів тому

      @@guitargod259 it's not that there's no evidence of any gods, but that the evidence needs to be weighed and found either strong enough or too weak to point the way to that conclusion. There is evidence for religions other than the one I believe in, but based on my evaluation of the evidence and the arguments from that evidence I am convinced that Christ is the way. Examples include the minimal facts of the resurrection, my readings of Goedel's philosophical work (not even a religious text, Goedel was a very lapsed Christian at best and most likely a Deist), and the personal experience I have with trying to implement Christian teachings into my life.
      I would advise you to not write off religious claims wholesale, regardless of what you yourself might end up concluding.
      An interesting question I often see asked in this type of exchange: if somehow you became convinced that a particular religion was true, Christianity in this context, would you follow it? Maybe you have some personal conversion experience, maybe some argument you've never heard before leaps out at you, whatever might cause this, would the soothing of your intellectual objections be enough to get past that wall in order to live a different life?

      As many outright false scriptures as the Catholic church has concocted, there are many that are indeed true. It is up to every Catholic, and indeed every one of us, to seek out that which is true, and reject, even expose, that which is not. It's funny the later question they asked about whether or not it would be a deal breaker if Michael's wife did not go along with the religion. I came to religion the same way he did. I came to the logical conclusion that there must be a creator, So did the creator create and just disappear or is it a personal creator? If it's a personal creator then which religion seems most logical? When I came to Christianity I said okay which denomination seems most logical? I became a devout protestant and well catechized. It wasn't until recently that I started to become challenged by Roman catholics that I decided I would learn more than the average catholic so that I could convert catholics to protestantism, And through all of the extensive and in depth studies and reading I did, I wound up backing myself into the front door of the Catholic Church. I had to admit I was wrong, And that catholicism is correct.
    But back to my original point, Is my wife and I were not religious initially. She lets me have my religion, She lets me engage our children in it, But she wants no part of it. Is it has been difficult, I would be lying if I said differently. But it is possible.

      @@vincenzobarassi5549 yes it does. Here’s the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
      The Church’s bond with non-Christian religions is in the first place the common origin and end of the human race:
      All nations form but one community. This is so because all stem from the one stock which God created to people the entire earth, and also because all share a common destiny, namely God. His providence, evident goodness, and saving designs extend to all against the day when the elect are gathered together in the holy city … * The Catholic Church recognizes in other religions that search, among shadows and images, for the God who is unknown yet near since he gives life and breath and all things and wants all men to be saved. Thus, the Church considers all goodness and truth found in these religions as “a preparation for the Gospel and given by him who enlightens all men that they may at length have life.”* In their religious behavior, however, men also display the limits and errors that disfigure the image of God in them:
      Very often, deceived by the Evil One, men have become vain in their reasonings, and have exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and served the creature rather than the Creator. Or else, living and dying in this world without God, they are exposed to ultimate despair.* To reunite all his children, scattered and led astray by sin, the Father willed to call the whole of humanity together into his Son’s Church. The Church is the place where humanity must rediscover its unity and salvation. The Church is “the world reconciled.” She is that bark which “in the full sail of the Lord’s cross, by the breath of the Holy Spirit, navigates safely in this world.” According to another image dear to the Church Fathers, she is prefigured by Noah’s ark, which alone saves from the flood.*
      “Outside the church, there is no salvation.”
      How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers?* Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body:
      Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.* This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church:
      Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience-those too may achieve eternal salvation.* “Although in ways known to himself God can lead those who, through no fault of their own, are ignorant of the Gospel, to that faith without which it is impossible to please him, the Church still has the obligation and also the sacred right to evangelize all men.”* - I Believe in the Holy Catholic Church, CCC 842-848

    The problem with catholism is that you have to go through another human to get to heaven. That's incorrect practice according to bible.
