    Oh, and one more question if you don’t mind. My baby’s reflux was due to a tree nut allergy or a tree nut intolerance? Is there any difference between the two?

    If we know our baby is allergic to one of the major allergens, how should we go about this process? So if she gets hives and becomes itchy afterwards, do we just wait a few days, and then give her it again?

      Yes, take a break for a few days, then try a small amount again.

    What’s your advice for a 6 month old baby that had a bit of a tummy rash after being exposed to egg yolk for the first time? Baby has his happy normal self and the rash cleared up within 30 minutes. Also has a history of mild eczema.

    • @JillCastle

      Egg is known culprit in eczema, however, since your baby is so young, I'd say take a break and try in a week or so again with a small amount. If trouble arises again, then check it out with your pediatrician.

      @@JillCastle that’s good advise, thanks. We actually tried again the next day with a small amount and no reaction this timed. So will keep giving baby a small amount each day and slowly build up. Thanks

    My baby is now 7 months old and she is still breastfeeding. When she was 4 months old there was a period that I ate handfuls of tree nuts couple of times a day and she developed bad reflux. I haven’t eaten tree nuts since then and I am very worried now about exposing her to them. Should I first reintroduce them in my diet and see how she is coping? And then move on to have her eat a nut butter? Is breast milk the best way to have a baby adapt to allergens? I am on a dairy free and egg free diet because of my chronic gastritis and that also makes me anxious about exposing my daughter to dairy and egg…

      Most baby's do have reflux because their GI system is immature; it usually goes away with age. That said, I'd discuss this iwth your doctor. The general advice is NOT to avoid nuts but to include them. However, if you're feeling nervous about it, talk with your doctor and ask questions so you feel comfortable.

    Hi Jill castle, my son is 6 months old now and I gave him some banana purée with one little cashew nut mix in it and he got little hives around his neck and on his face. What should I do. Please reply me, thank you

    • @JillCastle
      @JillCastle  2 роки тому

      Let your pediatrician know. It was probably too early for your baby; hives means he's having some intolerance, but that could go away with time. You and your doctor should make a plan for the next exposure since baby showed intolerance.

    Do allergies happen right away ?

    • @JillCastle
      @JillCastle  2 роки тому

      Generally, yes, especially in babies, you will see a skin reaction, vomiting or diarrhe, each of which can flag an intolerance to a food. Traditional food allergies show symptoms faster than an intolerance. Here's an article about the difference for milk intolerance vs allergy: thenourishedchild.com/milk-allergy-vs-lactose-intolerance/

    My daughter gets red bumps as soon as she has any milk products and egg whites...should I consider this an allergy or intolerance?
    Also,will these allergies subside once she grows older?

    • @JillCastle
      @JillCastle  Рік тому

      That sounds like hives, but your pediatrician/doctor would be the best person to verify that with - hard to know from afar. Sometimes, yes, food allergies are outgrown. Check with your MD before you take out important, nutritious foods from the diet.

      I gave my baby a small amount of scrambled egg today and he broke out in hives. So I’m guessing he has an allergy? No more eggs?

      You can eat those foods while breastfeeding, but if you're uncertain, double-check with your doctor.

    Thanks for this video! Could you please advise whether I should continue introducing “allergy food” if my baby has a huge skin irritation immediately after having this food (eggs, cottage cheese, any meat, even vegetables like carrots and potatoes)?

    • @JillCastle
      @JillCastle  2 роки тому

      I'd talk with your pediatrician about that - sometimes baby needs a little more time to adjust, but if your baby is reacting that much, I'd pull in your doc and make a plan moving forward.
