The guy at 23:05 is yelling something about getting rid of the "disgusting cameramen on stage". I'm glad they didn't.

Damn, we are all SO SO SO LUCKY that they had a disgusting cameraman roaming the stage for this show. Thank you to the cameraman.

I'm here because I've been exploring more of Mick Karn's work, and because my (recently) late husband, a drummer, mentioned Bill Bruford any number of times, so this is like a bit of us coming together again, that we would both enjoy.

I was lucky to see them in a small venue and even a small chat with Bill. Will never forget.

every time David & Mark have ever collaborated the musical sparks fly.. but this music with Bill and Mick (and also Tony Levin) is at a level of creativity that is truly MIND BLOWING..

I saw these guys play in a very small venue in San Diego for the "Cloud About Mercury" tour.....I would guess there were approximately 50-75 people there at the most. We had a table in the first row directly in front of Bruford's drums. Really cool show but I wish I was familiar with the music before I saw them.

This is so great! Thanks for posting! I first ran into David Torn at the time I was an ECM freak, early-mid '80's: into Ralph Towner, Keith Jarrett, and Jan Garbarek. I grabbed Garbarek's It's Ok To Listen To The Gray Voice when it first came out. (Photo With...is one of my favorite records of all time.) I saw the band live in 1986 I reckon, and the whole thing blew my head off!!! It was at George's supper club in Chicago (no longer in biz) it was awesome beauty and power. At the time, I'm in Chicago hanging at the best Blues, Jazz, and Rock clubs, playing, sometimes headlining, and sitting in. Several years later, I'm living and playing music in LA, and I had the pleasure of seeing/listening to Torn and most of these guys at the Roxy with Terry Bozzio on drums: a great choice. It was a delight to briefly hang with David and Mick Karn, who I was listening to since 1982, when Julia, a fabulous young lady from NYC turned me on to the super cool and amazing Brit-New Wave band: Japan. (check out the Tin Drum album! dummies. Ha!)
Mick Karn! is the connection between Jaco Pastorius and Pino Palladino. RIH Love you Mick Karn, PS: Love you David!

I have been listening to David since Zobo Funn... But CAM is my favorite and still listen to it regularly. Saw and met him with the NY Yanquis and then saw the Everyman Band more times than I can count. What a project. Total inspiration...

This is a piece a magic music. I had this album at least 15 years ago. I lended it, it never came back of course. I can recognize every note! I just love this thing. Torn is a genius and here is is playing with only the best. Isham, Bruford are monster of this music. Please guys go on!

Same for me. I have heard the album so often, but come back frequently. When I listen to the album time is flying and it feels like three minutes of pure entertainment. 😀

i have no idea how Bill got his Simmons to sound like some sort of mystical cross between temple bells, gongs and log drums.

It was amazing, I saw this major set up, even tho I don't remember as many pps on stage, but at the Blue Note, I think it was, in '86, it may have been, good times, omg New York in the summer, good times.

Experienced this band at Chico State. Didn't know what I was in for, just knew that Bruford was playing and that was all it took to get me there. Didn't know who Mick Karn was - very impressed with his bass lines and ability to hold the band together. He replaced Tony Levin, who played on the album. A tall order, but he filled it. I also remember Mark Isham playing a conch shell - which I didn't catch in this video, but this doesn't appear to be the full concert.

Isham is a Dr.Jekyll of a musician. He got to make it for a living , high life I'd say, by composing great film soundtracks while releasing quite decent solo albums himself and turning up here and there for guest appearances with other extraordinary fellow musicians , Torn, O'Hearn , Colin Chin and many others.

I was first introduced to David through this album, and the ones he did with Mick Karn. Beastial Clusters, The Tooth Mother, and Polytown are by far the best Mick Karn albums. I was disappointed with B L U E. Scott Bottie is not as good a player as Mark Isham. Check out David playing with Sonar.
