Japan Trip 2018 - Day 6 - Mt. Fuji, Kawaguchiko, Aokogahara

On Day 6 of Mikulski Japan Trip 2018, we took a long bus ride out of Tokyo southwest towards Mt. Fuji - which we had previously seen briefly on our bullet train ride to Kyoto. We arrived at Kawaguchiko, a small resort village underneath the hazy mountain - and ventured into Aokigahara - also known as the suicide forest or the "sea of trees," and discovered indeed why people get lost, but following the trails we only got lost in its serenity and majesty. Nick and I explored the Ice Caves (where in the span of 5 feet the temperature drops 50 degrees and there is always frozen water), and took a cable car to the top of the mountain. Beautiful views and tasty treats atop and below - especially eating hearty Hoto - a thick, hearty pumpkin soup with dumpling noodles - a colloquially enjoyed soul food.
