- WATCH PART 2 NOW: • The MUNCHIES Guide To ...
Welcome to Washington! Host Tarik Abdullah kicks off our journey around the Emerald State with a taste of Seattle’s classics: coffee, seafood, teriyaki, and late-night burgers at the beloved Dick’s Drive-In.
Between teriyaki with some local Ave Rats on University, mounds of fried salmon and chips at Ivar’s Fish Bar, and a stop at Dick’s Drive-In for a burger, fries, and a vanilla shake, Tarik makes time to stop by Victrola Coffee Roasters for his first-ever coffee fix and learns that pouring latte art is even harder than it looks.

The gentleman at Ivars is so precious, he was genuinely happy Tarik visited him and was so excited about showing his restaurant.
Ivars is a treasure, in 6th grade, a classmate did a project on their founder and Ivars sent him a buch of merch and stuff.
Remember the ivar's sign that was under water in puget sound? It was put up because they figured submarine committing was going to be the next big thing. Gotta love that forward thinking. As a kid I used to love how the seagulls would mug people for the tasty Ivar's 😆 those jerk birds got me too a few times!
Ivar's gave me a and my gf at the time a bu ch of free food one time when we lost our credit card while living out of our cars. They rock.
ivars is awesome and classic, but man he should have showcased spuds
“We are old men buddy!” Guys a sweetheart
This guy decided to feed the homeless while doing the show and creating the content. Pure class!
Hopefully not lmao

@@abdulxbasith Sorry but regardless of your faith, if you film it and show it off any good intentions you had just became in vain.
@@clickreportifyouareacrybab5942 I agree. There's a prophet's saying which goes like your left hand shouldn't know about the charity your right hand did. Charity's is not to be done to show off. But it all comes down to a person's intentions, innit? We'd never know if they're showing off or not and we shouldn't be quick enough to judge anyone
He seems genuine to me. You don't need to have a motive to be a good person.
It’s nice to actually have someone from Washington hosting this.
My brother, he's much more outgoing than I am
Tarik was one of the best hosts vice has had on Munchies. Strange how they never did anything else with him after this.
cus seattle is boring thats about it if I were to add to his list of seattle classics Aladdin fries with lamb, and dirty hot dogs in cap hill
I'm in love with this host, he doesn't have a pretentious bone in his body and he interacts really well with everyone he meets, I'd love to see him much more often

This host made me home sick. Such a sweetheart. Hana teriyaki has the best teriyaki in my opinion. Just a block and a half north from dicks drive in. Mmmm. Sentimentasty
I’m just here for the nostalgia, when I first watched this in 2016 the food looked really good and the host was super chill my life was so much better this year best year ever, I’d do anything to go back to 2016
Same. Alot in life changed for the worse, and I thought it already was bad. We gotta get back on the horse!
Holy shit guys, same here. We'll make it through though. 2023 is our year :)

Wow, this is definitely one of the best host in Munchies history. I mean to just sit with a bunch of people who are homeless...
UnlistedInvisibility yeah i like Action Bronson too
+UnlistedInvisibility In Seattle i think we're a bit more in touch with the homeless than other places, I went to high school with a lot of homeless youth and never really questioned it. They are people too, its kind of fucked up how we treat them like aliens.
+UnlistedInvisibility A lot of ave rats aren't actually homeless, they have homes but they choose to spend most of their time on the streets panhandling.
+UnlistedInvisibility Tarik is the shit, dude. Let's see more from him, VICE!!!
ive done that before alot of smart homeless just with bad decisions 🍤
This host is the coolest guy ever.
Seriously this guy needs to host more stuff.
Damn straight, he's so energetic and fun to listen to.

@@steampoweredmaniac5359 That's proper posture along with proper hosting, dude is a legend.
ur an idiot
@bruceownsu Why are you such a bitch?
As a Seattlite who moved out of state for work, the Ivars section made me incredibly homesick. Some of my favorite memories as a child are going to the ferries because there was always an ivars with some delicious salmon and chips.
Great video young man. I'm 70 years old (man). Born in Seattle. you are completely right about everything. down to the bone. I had tears in my eyes when you ended up at Dick's.
This host reminds me of late Anthony Bourdain in how he interacts with the common folks with no judgement and easy going personality!!!
Exactly
It’s true they both got just natural chill
I miss Anthony Bourdain, it really sucks that the demons in his head took him away from us way too soon, may he Rest In Peace.
this made me feel cathartic
@musiccoffeecode Absolutely!
That coffee dude looks exactly like what I expected him to look like...
Hahaha so true! The infamous barripster
😂 Probably loves yoga too.
The hipster
Definitely is a longtime member of DSC.
He does not represent Seattle. He's probably a Portland transplant
Cities need more nice guys like you man. You not only made a video helping local businesses and making Seattle look positive unlike the dozens of channels that bash it for the homelessness problem. But you actually went and helped out some homeless and gave them food. Keep up the great work.
That moment with the homeless, man you’ve got a big heart ! God bless u !
Really like the host, friendly got a solid personality and keeps it entertaining, keep him on for more!
THIS IS WHAT MUNCHIES FANS WANT
+smashingpumpkin3 Definitely Keep this guy in the loop! Easy to understand and he gets along with everyone.
smashingpumpkin3 Your just saying that because hes black and then you can be looked at as multi cultural and not racist.
N Xmilar why do feel like you had to say that? This host was clearly friendly, respectful and appreciative of all he got to experience not to mention entertaining and smashingpumpkin3 clearly isn't the only one that believes that.
It just really bothers me when people accuse things/people of being racist when there is absolutely no intent of racism. It just creates an issue that was nonexistent prior. I think its just as bad as being racist yourself. I know anyone feels free to talk shit on the internet and you're not a bad person because of it but please think before you bring racism into the picture because it shouldn't be brought up lightly.
N Xmilar What a ignorant and small minded thing to say.
love that he bought and sat down to eat with the homeless. That's awesome!
+Lissy Erdman lol its funny how theyre blatantly "homeless" by choice.
+Lissy Erdman hipsters, fake "homeless" artists and Sysco frozen french fries.

Not homeless. Bums.
As man who was born and raised in Seattle, they're bums bro, 110%..
I grew up in Washington, ivars was the place to go. Everyone around here knows about it and loves it. When I was in elementary we had clam chowder on Fridays for school lunch and it was everyone's favorite. A true WA classic
i love the energy this guy has. positive kind and just so nice. nice person to be around i bet
Feel really bad for the situation that one homeless guy is in who was talking to Tarik. You can tell he's really intelligent, well put together, but just in a bad spot in life. Only wish the best for that guy.
Most homeless people are homeless for extremely ufunortunate reasons. Homelessness is more of a economic pandemic than it is some sort of choice.
leon scott I wish more people would understand that. Especially in the us where so many people live pay check to pay check. Governments need to do more to support homeless people. In Nevada, homeless people are sleeping in parking lots with social distancing boxes to sleep in while hotels remain empty during the pandemic.
Come to Portland and see some real fucking retarded homeless people. Not as glamorous as the ones in Seattle I suppose.
I loved this guy when I worked with him years ago. He's gotten even more awesome in these past few years. Rock on, Tarik!!!

While wearing a trench coat dude you forgot that...
As a native Seattleite, I really appreciate how they didn't just focus on seafood. This is probably the realist representation of what life in Seattle is all about, especially the late night street food and culture. Way to go Munchies!
Yea, and the homeless crack addicts shooting up in the alley, the black gang related gun crime and the former mayor who was a pedophile, and now the soviet style soda tax. It's sooooo progressive! Gotta love it!
What city are you from? I am certain there is plenty going on in your City that you do not like.
Seattle is one of the worst cities in the world. Grow up, kid.
No. It's not. I hate the politics here, but this is my home. I was born here. The Californians did this to us. They can leave at any time, but this will still be MY home.
I have lived here for 28 years, Seattle is full of junkies, and liberal fucktards and some of the most rude humans you will ever meet. eastern WA is where it's at.

Hell im moving there next year from Louisiana. I visited for a week and I love the place so please don’t talk down on it.
The homeless people seem to love it. They're camped out all over the place.
Seattle used to be awesome, but honestly all the homelessness everywhere is ruining it, it's a shame. There's trash everywhere, the city stinks, it sucks.
I’m from Anchorage and Seattle culture is dope as fuck, I love my city/state but Seattle got has a lot of history here and still growing
There is not trash everywhere...stop exaggerating and the city does not stink. If you hate it so much, then leave. No one is stopping you.
Props to him feeing the guys outside. Hope the best for themselves, glad they're all there for each other

Most are thats y socal is the homeless capital haha
I wouldn't talk to any of the homeless here in Seattle. Too many are mentally unstable. I've had to call the cops many occasions. It is a serious problem. It is very sad. I work in property management and homeless is a constant situation. Our employees don't feel safe. We ask them to carry mace and take self defense classes. Many of our female workers have been sexually assaulted outside of the buildings. We have homeless people who will break into our buildings and steal our furniture or sleep on our couches. We have had to bolt down everything in our lobbies. The number of calls we get about people hearing screaming outside is ridiculous. I wish I was making this stuff up. Seattle is not a safe city. These aren't trashy apartments either. We are talking about very nice brand new buildings in desirable parts of the city.
@@Woodshadow damn that sucks. Im thinking of moving over there. Has it gotten worse since the pandemic or has it always been like that?
@@ThatsNoiceDude Seattle (or King County) has extremely high homeless rates. Even in towns like 30-40 minutes out. You just see them more in Seattle. The city is a fun place to visit (not necessarily to drive around ;)), but I would recommend living or working somewhere a bit further away if homeless people are an issue for you. That being said, there are also lots of organizations (particularly Hopelink) that are trying to help, but a lot more work is needed. If you do move to Seattle, please be kind to homeless people because they live there too.
