Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8+ Vacuum & Mopping Robot Review Demo & Maintenance Tips - T8 Plus

- Here is a review and demonstration of Ecovacs high-end Deebot Ozmo T8+ robot vacuum. This model is currently a Best Buy exclusive. This robot can vacuum and mop floors, has good navigation, an excellent software app, and a self-emptying charging dock. The robot itself is a slight step down in tech from the more expensive Ozmo T8 AIVI.
I tested the robot on various surfaces, and in all its cleaning modes. The robot is impressively loaded with modern tech, but has some drawbacks.

My house was not cleaned for about three weeks. Left it on purpose until this little guy arrives. Honestly, I was speechless when I saw how much and well he cleaned. So big thumbs up
Great data on this. Got one coming this week and looking forward to letting it run wild
Will order now
Using vacuums to clean vacuums. The future is really here 😂
I own a t8+ since Christmas. I too noticed the lack of wetness of the mopping. I troubleshot it down to the small black dot on the top right side of the tank that looks like a screw, but is actually a breathing hole for the tank to let air into the tank as water is pumped out. I took a threading needle and opened up the 4 tiny holes on the black dot...now the mopping pad gets plenty of water the way it should. I agree on wishing it had more suction, but I've tried two other brands of robots with supposed higher suction...2700pa and 4000pa, and the t8 holds its own and am very satisfied because of its more gentle and smart navigation, compared to other harder bumping robots. The app is better and easier to use than the proscenic m7 and Veavon V8 robots.
Thank you for your Honest review.
I just purchased my T8 with Auto empty Attachment.
I Initially had issues with the Bin not emptying Automatically due to having the robots bin to full.
To work around this, I divided the rooms into sections then scheduled each area separately. This allowed for multiple trips to the empty station.
Empties now without any issues.
Thank you so much for your honest review!! This is the most transparent review I ever seen!!
Wow, thanks a lot! I appreciate the nice comment!
I just bought T8 aivi+ which came with the Ozmo Pro mopping attachment plus additional 3 bags (total 5) for the for the dirt bin and 11
disposable mop clothes (can be reused for at least for over 4000 square feet after wash it.) for the Ozmo pro a couple of days ago with the price around $628 in Taiwan. The Ozmo pro mopping did the mopping job way much better than the original mopping attachment.
Really honest and accurate review. Had mine since December 2021 and had the same experience.
my troubleshooting is i put it x2 passing in the app to have a perfect cleaning if im not satisfied little Dusty buddy will do a double shift lol!
For the wetness i pre water the pad at the same time that i put some soap and put it on and it makes a perfect job afterwards with the max wetness.
Also , i live in a basement appartement so somehow lots of moss type dust so it takes a little more maintenance to empty the bin despite the self emptying.
I never cleaned it like he did in terms of maintenance and dind't have a different experience i called my T8 Dusty for a reason , he is a Dusty little boy who does his job properly !
I dont regret my purchase at all , best one in the market in terms of prices and features. Never had him eat a cord or whatver!
I really like your view thank you. now I understand why mine won't edge as well because that setting helpful. FYI It says in the instructions to use purified water probably to stop calcium buildup really depends on your region.
I got it on Black Friday deals too, today I just ordered mopping pro and hoping will work great
Can comfirm - it does not get wet enough. Soak the mop pad before you put it on and wring it out. Seems to help!
Gotta love the dc17
thank you for your review! it was very helpful
Thanks for watching, Carlos! I appreciate the nice comment.
Thank you for the review 😅
Try spraying your mop head with water before you start &/or spritz spotty areas with water to soften them before starting.
thanks for the heads up
I got gifted one as my “ welcome to your new home” type thing and in my opinion this thing rocks. It might get confused and run in circles sometimes. But it has picked up so much dust and dirt off my carpets. And I was surprised that it was really quiet
It IS very quiet, and it does a pretty good job!
@@VacTech1 and also for the mopping, the pad needs more down pressure, for a more “even” cleaning and I did a “ life hack” and I put something between the pad and the water reservoir, and I got more of a wider and fuller clean. I used a pack of gum 💀 but it works better, and I would like to see, a update where the robot would move side to side for more of a scrubbing effect. I hope this all makes sense
Nice video!
GREAT REVIEW! My Ecovacs T8+ does a good job cleaning but it's navigation tends to fall short, it does not do well when encountering the corners of throw rugs and goes into a tizzy (runs in circles), the software is definitely on the poor side, and their technical support is the worse. It is almost impossible to divide rooms more than once unless you divide the room at an angle. Go figure. In addition, the robot steers clear of shiny surfaces such as stainless steel appliances which you pointed out. The 'drop off sensors' become confused when encountering geometric patterns on throw rugs and the robot runs around in circles. I got around this problem by blinding the sensors with masking tape. Ecovacs does not allow you to turn the 'drop sensors' off. I guess that they believe that everyone has a two story house. Lastly, the Deebot Pro Mopping System does not put out enough water and leaves the middle of the cleaning pad dry along with the floor no matter what water flow level you set it to. I returned mine. Not worth $100. When I submitted a review on the Ecovacs site, they refused to publish it. The following is their response. "Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time! Submit something new." One of their "guidelines" is to not criticize Ecovacs technical support. Ecovacs does not accept any fair or honest criticism.
Thanks! So I expected to love the product, but overall I was underwhelmed, as most of the key features outside of the amazing app had compromises. Hopefully Ecovacs can continue to improve their products performance, nav, and the self-emptying dock. I noticed many of the issues you mentioned as well.
@@VacTech1
What mostly bothers me is the poor tech support. I've gone back and forth with their tech support in regards to splitting up rooms. They never acknowledged that they have a problem even though others have the same problem. They have yet to upgrade their software to fix the problems. If they continue with their attitude, they will be surpassed by others and go out of business. They should be thanking people like yourself who publish honest reviews and fix the issues that you point out. We will see. This is my first robotvac so I'm learning quite a bit.
Roomba FTW
I’m disappointed this didn’t preform a little better. I really thought it would do better. I used to have 5 Neato bots and absolutely loved them. I’ve sold them now though because I enjoy manually vacuum too much and I felt cheated haha. Seems like this isn’t a robot that will unseat iRobot and their clean base offerings. Now if only Neato would wake up and make a self emptying option as well. Their 2021 lineup looks to be just more of the same from them. Great video!!
Thanks for the nice comment! I agree, I wanted the robot to groom and clean better overall. It did alright, but my Neatos and Roombas I've owned (I've only owned smarter Roombas that had cameras on top) cleaned better.
I have owned Neatos and they clean great but too much stuff gets stuck in the brushes and no auto emptying. They haven't innovated as much as I hoped.
Hi I bought this model that came with the automatic bin disposable and have been using it for 2months but of late after cleaning the vacuum cannot go up the ramp of the automatic bin with the mopping pad attached which it had no issue earlier now in order for it to go up the ramp I have to remove the mopping pad ! I have contacted the company and was told that I have to remove the pad which means I have to be around the house till it finishes mopping than what is the point of getting the so call intelligent robot vacuum! Could you tell me who should I speak to with regards to this problem!? Thanks
It probably would have cleaned the kitchen better if you dialed down the speed a bit. I noticed it was all the way up. I have all hardwood floors and I keep it on the low setting and it seems to not knock stuff around as much.
Regarding the mirroring issue on the furniture legs: Maybe the best fix for that is to just cover them with some masking or electrical tape? Even scotch tape might work since it'll be so diffuse but maybe won't stand out as much so you won't notice it as much (visually).
Tape would absolutely work. I've had to do it before. Good tip!
I've noticed my Roomba 960 is better at surface debris and my hoover upright is better at deeper debris. Having four dogs using the Roomba and running it twice a day let's me use the upright once a week instead of every other day.
Yes, I agree! I think robots are great for in-between using your main deep cleaner. If you have a good robot (like your Roomba 960), they absolutely cut down on how often you need to use your main vacuum! Both my Roomba 985 and your Roomba 960 clean better than this Deebot, but the Deebot still keeps the floors looking great when run daily.
Did you try running it on high suction? I'm wondering if it would do better just always using the highest setting (and slowest speed). If you still have it, I'd love to hear more.
I had it running at the highest suction setting it would allow on all floors. As far as my carpeting, it's a cheap loose nap, but not too long (medium plush). For everyday maintenance cleaning, it appeared to do a great job, and kept the floors clean. I do think though that in busier homes with pets/kids/heavy traffic, it could use a little more power, and I don't think the self-emptying dock will keep up with full-bins.
I’d love to see one realistic review. These stress test nearly made me not purchase any robot because of this. I decided just to buy one and if it doesn’t work I’ll return it.
I can tell you this model was mediocre (meh carpet cleaner, it blew around dirt on hard floors, self-emptying dock struggled). Ecovacs just launched new models, which are hopefully a much needed improvement.
Is this model better compared to T9?
I returned this machine as it was scratching my wooden floors. The front wheel is the issue. I also found the auto emptying need 4 attempts to get rid of debris. Otherwise I thought it did a good job, but the floor scratching was a big NO NO!
In your opinion, what is the best robot vacuum out on the market? Something that isn't "supplemental" like this one. My room is mostly carpets/rugs. Thanks in advance for your input :)
Great question, without a simple answer. Dreame makes the best versatile multi-surface robots. Thorough, smart, gentle, and entirely decent. Neato still likely cleans carpeting the best. They were always the champ, but I haven’t been able to test their latest yet. Roomba is second best at carpeting. In your situation, Roomba or Neato are the ones to try. If you go Roomba, get one with a camera for decent nav.
The sad truth is that they’re all still supplemental. You’re still gonna need to vacuum occasionally to protect the life of your carpeting. Real vacs are much more powerful than robots, which are just excellent for daily surface cleaning.
I hope this helps! Great question!
Do you know how to change the battery on theDeebot Ozmo T8 AIVI ? Does anyone ?
Please, I would like your advice between two types to buy one of them
The first is N10+
The second is ozmo T8+
How is this thing getting 3 hrs runtime?! I put it on lowest settings and can’t even finish mapping less than 1k square foot on one level without running out of battery. Returned first one and this one doing same thing
Suction power ,is it 1500 pa??N8 has 2300pa.
Any one know the suction power of T8 aivi and T8plus .pls suggest
What is the price rang..?
Do you think it's worth buying now?
Where I live it's 475USD.
Anybody help me please!! The mop doesn’t work good I think it does not touch the ground
I have a 980 roomba that takes 6.5, 8 hours to clean my basement. I want better navigation. Would this deebot be a good fit?
This Evovacs has great battery life, so it may finish faster, with less trips to re-charge. The 980 is a better carpet cleaner than T8+. One nice thing about most robots with Lidar though, is that they can clean in the dark too.
Who can help me with a pdf instructions or a link to it? I have the 8+, perfectly packed with foam and double box, and white sleeves and an installed dustbag, but no instructions....🤷🏽♀️ I have no idea how to start with the app. Couldn't find one on the internet with the exact type like this one.
Have you downloaded the Ecovacs Home app yet? That will walk you through setting it up.
Would you recommend this one or the roborock s6 maxv?
I think the roomba i7+ or i8+ is the best robot for the price, right now.
What is the difference between T8+ and T8 AIVI ? And what is the best ? Thank you 😊
The AIVI is smarter (with a camera on the front), but they're pretty similar. I would recommend a self-emptying Roomba over any Ecovacs, as they clean carpeting better.
AIVI is supposed to be smarter, but the normal T8 performs better at avoiding obstacles with its laser system as opposed to the AIVI camera.
can he jump over an obstacle 3 cm high?
Mine is about two months old, used on alternate days of the week and its just started to make a squeaking sound. Any idea how to get rid of the sound? Definitely comes from the front wheel.
You can lubricate the wheel's axle with 3-in-1 oil. Just make sure you get rid of any excess oil, as that could damage carpeting. Lubrication will take care of the squeal. Happens all the time on small vacuum wheels.
@@VacTech1 thanks! I'll give it a go.
@VacTech
I also found recently that if threads are caught in the brush underneath, they skid along the tiled surface of my floor and the wheel tends to drag instead of rotating as it should. Removing the threads etc from the brush stops the squeaking as well.
What kind of a handheld vacuum do you use in the video?
That's a Dyson V11 Animal. I have a review of it on my channel. Great machine, very handy!
Yeni aldım, İngilizce bilmiyorum, telefona program nasıl yüklenir, telefona ne yazıcaz?
It doesn't clean itself after carpet. There's no sensor that's full or not. You can't setup how often it's emptying to the station. Good for 100 sq. Ft. But not for the house. You can divide area only by 2, no more. Nice mapping, but it lost it after 3 days, no way to load it back. Spend again 2hrs to set it up.
Is this the DEEBOT T8 AIVI ?
No. This is the Ozmo T8+.
Where is this made?
Made in China!
I dont think this is the DEEBOT OZMO T8+ i think it comes with the 2.0 mop attachment
This definitely is that model. This one doesn't come with the Pro mopping attachment, but I imagine there will be lots of similar variants for this robot, and some will come with extra attachments.
You have to purchase the Deebot pro mopping attachment separately.
@@acharletta I would like to try that out. I imagine it would work better than the stationary mop pad it comes with.
My vacuum shouts at me everytime it does anything. In the middle of the night it’s shouts at me on how it’s now gonna charge itself
are you sure it's not ur wife
You can turn that of. Also I think it puts itself on silent mode at night
That's longer carpet than I've seen any of the other reviewers have, or than my own carpet. That's probably not helping anything, I bet.
Best buy has this now for $529
I'd still go Dreame or Roomba given the option. Just my opinion.
@@VacTech1 Roomba J7+?
@@FT86TT Yeah. Better dock and auto emptying system, and likely cleans carpeting a lot better. I haven't tried the J7+ yet, but owned both its predecessors, and they were both better carpet cleaners than the T8+.
Constant problem with the lidar on this vacuum robot
I wasn't impressed with this model. Came off as cheap and a half-effort. I'm assuming their newer stuff is improved, but I had far better luck with Dreame and iRobot's models.
Odd, vac wars said the exact opposite.
Deebo 😂
1st!
$129!
That's a great deal!
@@VacTech1 sold out instantly at bestbuy.
Damn. Did it come with the self-emptying dock too?
@@VacTech1 It should, will find out once I pick up later today or trm
Yes, it does come with the base.
I hate this vacuum lol so I’m here to see if I’m doing something wrong. The Shark robot is sooo much better!!
It's flawed for sure. For robots right now, I'd go Dreame, Roomba, or maybe high-end Roborock (still need to test the brand, but their robots look promising).
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Anti drop sensors keep this unit from doing its job. You will have to reset anti drop sensors 15 to 20 times in a week. You must be supervising this unit all the time, otherwise it will not do the job as anti drop sensors needs a lot of attention. There is no DISABLE OPTION feature in the app to disable the ANTI DROP sensors, and many people have been complaining about that issue since 2019. So far, NO UPDATES on the app. Another issue, the ECOVACS Deebot T8 AIVI Robot reset maps 2 to 4 times in a month, which is a headache. STAY WAY from ECOVACS products because it’s not worth it and buy a better well know brand on the market. I think this vacuum is like a test version to find out problems where people can complain.
This is the best software but it's cleaning performance is far behind.
It's very average for a robot, and the self-emptying dock is meh too.
i own this robot. The port to auto-evacute the dust inside the bin is too small. Therefore, be prepared to empty the dustbin yourself EVERY TIME. Other then that, it works good. FAIL FAIL FAIL🤮😡
I agree. There's two small ports, and they're too small. It's a shame, as its otherwise decent. Roomba's self-emptying system is far superior. The Deebot needs a way to detect when the bin is full, like the Roombas have. It makes all the difference!
@@VacTech1 there's two ports about the size of a quarter and a main port that's 3 1/16 inches wide by 3/4 inch high. The problem is the dirt /hair/debris gets log-jammed at the port exit during the suction phase, so you need to dig inside with your fingers to empty it. This totally defeats the purpose of an auto-empty robot and is a HUGE engineering FAIL.
@@cgianni5 I agree. I really wanted to like the robot, but the self emptying system isn't up to the task.
Its totally waste of money don't but this bot... Empty station is total failure..... Doesn't suck dust out of bin.... And most of the time it cant even climb empty station... After sale services are very poor...
Sadly there's much better options. IRobot and Dreame have better self-emptying bots.
It doesn't seem to do a good enough job based on this video.
It sucks. Mapping system sucks
Have you got this one? Was considering buying one myself..
