Im glad you’re happy, truly. I did just want to say though that I find the title misleading. Financing yourself to the hills is hardly affording something. But it’s each to their own. Wish you all the best.
Wait 'til you find out that financing is actually better overall for the financial point of view. As long as you know how to do your finances, which this guy seems to be alright, he's chilling and depending on the type of finance he will still own the car :p
@@zuzutm3391 It's not though is it.
@@VixenExige With a stable income, financing a car will allow you to first of all have the car and use it, and also still make money on the side so by the time your finance contract ends you could have made back the total money you would have spent on the car in the first place. That's the way I see it. A bit of a rough one because it doesn't include fuel, maintenance and yada yada, but this is strictly for owning the car.
@@zuzutm3391 pay £40k for a car cash or pay £50k for a car financed due to £10k interest over 5 years... after the 5 years it's probably worth around £30k due to depreciation & mileage so by the time you're finished paying £10k overs for finance your original asset is then worth £20k less...
Congrats my man. I was studying biomed science myself and struggled to get a trainee biomed position after covid lockdown. Managed to get a job in my hospital A&E as a Healthcare assistant to try and help me in the lab with no luck. Recently i was fortunate to start a job as a trainee train driver; completely different to the biomed degree and career plan but better off now and grateful 😊. May look at a nice car like you in a year
@@zaink7037 what I read here is someone who keeps finding ways to level himself up, big up to you my guy. Sort of stuff people don’t really appreciate. And I’m glad you’ve landed yourself a good job. Keep killing it!
I’m genuinely so happy for bro, first car is an AMG 35 & second car is R8 how can you hate on that. First time viewer & already subscribed, keep up the good work man❤️
@@Barterjpeg my guy! Appreciate you 🤜🏽🤛🏽
I could have got one of these but decided on a mk3 TTRS instead. Much better modern interior and mental when you tune it.
Reality is, UK salary is extremely low. After tax paid is only 30% of the many countries, the same job title and level.
That is true indeed
Leave the uk if ya don’t like it then

@@mattyelliott865 thank you my guy. Those were the days man haha! Glad to have worked with you. I know you’re a hard worker yourself, big things will be coking your way 💪🏽
An audi r8 is less than a new vw golf or a new ford kuga so its pretty affordable. Being able to run one though is another matter.
Wait till you have a problem with it. Suspension if on mag ride fails and is £1800 a corner, if you wash your car and then put it away without driving it to heat up the brakes to get the water off the discs, they rot from the inside out. Oil cooler pipes fail, coil packs fail. Buying the car in the first place is the cheap part, but good luck. Reperformance do lots of videos on R8’s.
When I was your age I also thought a nice car was a sign of success. Here's a different way to view it.
A half decent house up North is about a hundred k to own it outright. That's like 2 cars. Difference is, it gives you rent every month instead of taking rent off you as a car does. If you used a 25k deposit every 2 years you could have 5 houses within 10 years. If you have 5 payments each month of rent coming in, what kind of car could you lease in 10 years?
@@marcus.H that is indeed correct but I guess we’ll never know 🤣
@markalden it's all good 😊 to be fair, 5 houses would probably give about 5 grand each month in rent. After taxes and bills, you might keep 3 grand a month. That's a lot to have in 10 years. You would have mortgage debt if you did it so I'm of the mind that it's good to clear that debt up before buying a new car, but that's just a business minded attitude. Not for everyone
@@marcus.H plus keeping up to date with changing laws, late payment tenants, potential squatting troublemakers, maintenance, insurances etc...not without real stress. Unless all tenants are like the one my parents had. Rich diplomats kid from China! Exemplary discipline and like renting it out to a Monk. Kept clean, no late rents, basically managed the gaff like her own. Immaculate condition when she left.
@@autodigitvlogs just make sure your tenant is insured and do proper references. Also, get a guarantor
just because you can afford multiple deposits over a few years doesn't mean you'd be able to afford the multiple mortgages unless your incomes increase commensurately which is highly unlikely. If one or two houses were vacant or cost more than the ent income, it would only be a short time before you were in serious financial trouble.
At first, I thought he should have bought his first property, or put that money into an ETF. By the end of the video I changed my mind. I want an R8.

@@setasonte6392 thank you my guy ❤️
Good video. I admire you being so candid about this. Having watched a few of your videos with your big garage and yard, the car, and your relative youth, I confess I did assume parental wealth was involved. I think it's easy to make that assumption and then dismiss your lifestyle as unobtainable, as opposed to recognising that hard work, budgeting, and sacrifice were the reasons. I think that is because I might then have to admit that the reason I don't have my dream car/house is laziness, lol.
@@shia_labeouf thank you for this kind comment ❤️❤️ also, it is never too late to start 💪🏽

Get the R8 in for a service every year. It'll help a lot with resale in the future on a low mileage example like yours.
The MK1 V8 Auto R8 is the car for people who want to look like they drive a supercar but in reality it's just a TT for people with a complex.

There are more important issues in uk than affordability . Yup it can get stolen , need an alarm, immobiliser, tracker. Come to Dubai no such issues

so how much you paying a month for the r8
ua-cam.com/video/4dsuZYFxHl4/v-deo.html here is my little breakdown
Stuck between being hapoy for him and being disappointed. Happy he loves the car and is happy but disapointed coz thats stupid money on a depreciating asset on a average wage.
@@garyreid2472 we all depreciate my guy at the end of the day. So just gotta enjoy everyday when you can
Where is the cost breakdown video
@@Venturec4pital it is at the end of the video. But here is the link ua-cam.com/video/4dsuZYFxHl4/v-deo.htmlsi=D91bBubZ7-0V3nTy
In your own words, you spent years scrimping and saving to put together the 16k deposit. Did you really think loading up an additional 53k of debt on a depreciating asset is a good idea?
@@Ali-ju7jd no not really, but for a certain moment I was able to achieve something that I could have only ever dreamed about. Never said it was a good idea. Nor did I advise people to do so.
@@markalden Respect for your measured response. In my opinion anyone can take out a giant loan, you haven't achieved anything until the car is paid off
@@Ali-ju7jd Your mindset is too 1 dimensional. Not "anyone" can take out a giant loan, most people don't have £7k liquid to even drop a deposit to rent a supercar let alone pay a giant loan off consistently over years.
You're seeing just the car and the figure, not what the car psychologically represents when he "achieved" it or even the people and circles you meet with that car that can GROSSLY increase your earning potential beyond the scope of said car, you need to think way bigger.
His mindset is he achieved it. Your mindset is he didn't achieve anything. Which of those mindsets is likely to provide the inertia to go on to achieve more things..... Was it the greatest idea?, who are we to judge, I expect if your ideas were so good you'd have a better car fully afforded in cash because of those good ideas...... right? or maybe you don't have good ideas after all and you both have bad ideas but he's enjoying life more haha. All about Perspective.
How much did you spend on maintenance so far?
I put away £750 every year, I also had to change the suspension which I can't remember the exact price. I have a video of it on my channel :)
R8 is not affordable if you want a good condition Gated Manual or a dual clutch. No one wants the shitty ones
So what salary are you on to afford this? Because normal may not be normal if you’re earning 60k+
Probably between £40-55k depending if he is senior or not
It's a cheap old Audi and you live outside of London...the fact some people are impressed with this sums up how little ambition the average person in the UK has.
@@cogedlomatalo6955 🤣🤣 alright Bill Gates. Chill out
Wherea your r8
@@cg.paiva1 Got a Lamborghini instead 👍
@@cogedlomatalo6955 wow a Lambo how ambitious, not like I've seen or been in one a million times. Thought u were going to say something actually ambitious like a hypercar. Such an average yt carc😭
I thought what you sold the A35 for was extremely fortunate. Getting 10k over value. The downside is then taking that and spending £69k on an Audi R8. I'd hate to think what it's value is now. Back in negative equity unfortunately. Investing in a car at that price, at your age is a fools game. However, I wish you the best in your youtube Journey.
@@Calm_wisdom definitely very fortunate about the A35. And yes you’re correct, but I guess you live and you learn. Good thing with the used R8 is, the depreciation isn’t drastic. So didn’t knock me back too much. Thank you so much 🙌🏽
Be lucky to get £40k for it
