- Rwandan President Paul Kagame says his country will ensure that the 1994 Genocide doesn't happen again.
Rwanda is marking 30 years since the genocide against ethnic Tutsis, and moderate Hutus where nearly a million people were killed in a hundred days.
The genocide began on the night of April 6, in 1994 when a plane carrying then Rwandan President, Juvenal Habyarimana, and his counterpart Cyprien Ntaryamira of Burundi - both Hutus - was shot down.
The attack sparked a rampage by Hutu government soldiers and allied extremist militia with the aim of exterminating the Tutsi minority, whom they blamed for killing Habyarimana.
Sophie Mokoena is in Kigali and has compiled this report.

Dear President Kagame, it is so sad that your country failed to show solidarity when the worst ever genicide of the 21st century is taking place on the people of Tigeay in Ethiopia. By conservative estinates about 1 milliion people gave been killed, 120000 women and girls raped as a weapon of genocude. These people are now being subjected ti genocide under your watch and you invited the genocidaire - PM Abbiy Ahmed of Ethiopia- and you say never again genocide; it is a shame. For the record, Rwanda supported the defunding of an internatiinal human rights e,perts for inquiry to the genicide in Tigray, which was established by the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Thus is a mockery of justice. I admire what you do in your country, but you should have played your in preventing genocide on the Tigrayans; the late PM, Meles Zenawi, whose family members are now targets of genicide in Tugray, has played pivoral role in stabiluzing Rwanda by sending able troops to Rwanda when no other coyntry was willing to do so. President Kagame, pls tell the Ethiopian pm Abiy to stop a leadership that leads the same or the worst type of genocide in Ethiopia. We have a law that people to have an Id based on ethnicity that expose to the attackers.Ruwandian had the same experience before the massacre.
